Incidentally, the head of the BDO at the time, Olly Croft, the man who said "we don't owe darts players a living", had a BDO salary, lived rent free in a BDO property and drove a Rolls Royce. Also quite hypocritical as the BDO started exactly the same way, by breaking away from the existing NDAGB and taking over the running of the game.
Gotta love the arrogance of the BDO guy in this vid "wouldn't call that a WC if that's all they've got". First off, idiotic comment, the Football World Cup used to be only 16 teams, yet no-one ever questioned whether it was legit or not, because it was the best 16 teams in the world, for the most part anyway. And how, 19 years on, the BDO WC is now a mostly pathetic tournament, while the now PDC is thriving.
An amateurish feel to the BDO tournament every year, players look worn out and over the hill and lack quality! i find it unbelievable that the BBC commentators bobby george and the like fail to acknowledge the dominance, quality and huge exposure of Phil the power, the PDC etc. I understand they have a job to do but to keep mentioning the bdo u end up champion of the world is truly an empty statement!! lack of credible journalism and news reporting. BDO stinks!!
In 2021, the World Darts Council (now the PDC) is thriving, and the BDO is no more.
