    Hello! The ink result is really pleasing and the filtered one is stunning. If the result looks too perfect, what about applying the halftone filter randomly to let the ink work show and keep the hand made touch else where? Or may be it is because grey doesn't print on manga comics process? It's really impressive. I love how you paint the leaves. I should train painting these. Cheers

      Yes there are a lot of tutorials and books on this topic and the rules themselves are not difficult but they require a lot of practice. it's best so simplify things and then add details gradually as you go. With this you can start with only simple boxes and when you have those right you can add all the rest.

    Maybe too good or too realistic doesnt fit the style of the story they're working on, guys! I suppose the art should serve the story, just like the character design, dialogues etc. So if the background is too photo realistic it can be out of synch with the kind of story they want.

  • @goku21youtub
    @goku21youtub 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    hmm the left part of the picture didnt look like a modified photo ,,,the right part a bit more , i think just a small layer of black fineliner for the details instead of shading could revert the photo look .. the photolook happen when the fine details turn into blotches like in your painting here ..

    How do you use the black ink? Brush directly into the little bottle or do you use the thing that does little droplets of ink? I didn't know you could mix with water for lighter greys, I thought this kind of ink was 100% black, it's a little bit like watercolor then.

    • @mattjabbar

      You can use whatever you want 👍 "manga" just means "a comic" in Japanese. If what you make is a comic and if it's published in Japan it's a manga in way. Of course there are more "traditionally looking" mangas and more "digital, modern" mangas but in Japan even if a comic is drawn on a smartphone or in Paint it's still a "manga" 👍

    • @mattjabbar
      @mattjabbar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The method I'm using here relies on the fact that I'm using a brush and waterproof ink. Thanks to that I can safely layer the ink and control how strong each wash is. I don't think you can do this with a pen. Any nice brush and waterproof ink or paint (like thinned down acrylic gouache for example) should work though - you don't have to use the exact one that I have.
