Nicely done Chelsea. My niece just purchased the same car and color. I sent her a link to this so that she can see what she needs to have done. It shows the work that goes into such a nice job. I get allot of questions on charging labor in my excavating business. It’s not just the cost of the equipment but the years behind the controls that counts. I always say Home Depot sells shovels if they want to do the work. Take care…
Well said! Thanks for watching
With your experience and the work you put into it plus the amazing results the customer is getting, It's definitely at least $1,000...Good job Chelsea!
I typically leave the choice of coating up to the customer. I explain the options and prices and bill them based on what they choose. Of course that's separate from my labor costs.
One thing i won't do anymore is try to apply a coating without polishing. High spots galore. I'm not sure why, but it's only when i didn't polish.
Another excellent video!! 👍🏻🇨🇦
Freaking 🔥🔥🔥🔥 video 2:08
chelsea!!! 💐🐿️💐
First and ready
This pricing is also dependant on location. In SoCal average cost for a "3 yr coating" with a polish runs $1500 for a VW Golf sized car. What boggles my mind are the people charging this amount are not Licensed or insured. If your not Licensed or Insured, than your not really a business, its more of a side hustle and prices should not be as high due to the risk the customer takes to have someone that isn't insured or licensed working on their car. Nano coatings have their place, but they are HUGE money makers for the Professional Detailer primarily due to the prep required to apply them. Ironically, most Americans don't keep their cars long enough to get the benefits of a Nano coating. Statistically in the USA the average person keeps their car 3-4 yrs. The Auto Manufacturer's warranty paint on average 3 yrs. So for some? Unless you plan on keeping the car long term (most don't) its a waste of money paying for a nano coating application.
Think of the costs in NOT having your vehicle coated! Great video.
Great video, consice and to the point.
Nice for you to put things into perspective. Now, when the plumber shows up and does the job in a half hour and charges $100 or whatever, people can look at that van full of equipment and hos obvious knowledge and understand.
Very informative thank you
Your prices pretty decent honestly, I would of charged 800$ for the outside only so your right on the spot
In your opinion how does the Mckees 37 compare to DIY 8 year coating ? Great video !!!!!!
I’ve not seen the diy 8 yr back so can only speak on application- I prefer the Mckees 37 application vs diy 8 yr. I’ve worked with it more and understand how to use it properly though. I’m not a fan of the sponge applicators or applying in a circular motion so that may be affecting my comparison.
Great video. One thing not mentioned in the cost was there is cost for water, pressure washer, rags (washing rags), electricity and building space. That should be calculated into cost applied. Perhaps it’s in your hourly rate. Excellent!
@@johnfontaine1257 yes that’s in my hourly rate but definitely worth noting and thanks for mentioning it
Okay. I have a stupid question:
How long will a ceramic coating last on the shelf?
Some coatings do not have an expiration date on the bottle?
Most have a one-year shelflife if unopened and then once opened anywhere from four weeks to six months.
Great content. I often wonder that detailing for myself instead of my customers adds additional hours, affecting profits. How do you find a balance? Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏
When you put things in perspective that the free stuff you’re giving away is time with your family or materials that a customer isn’t paying for that takes money away from groceries or things your kids need it helps you say no
I have just had the real experience with Chelsea full detailed, ceramic polish and ceramic coated my new car. It’s not just her expertise and showing all the steps. It’s also her adaptability to the specific characteristics of the car and condition . Her changing on the fly to get the best outcome is a testament to a great detailer. Worth every penny
Thanks Ed 😊
Chelsea, I love this type of content! Awesome vid, thank you for taking the time to make it. I did have a question about using iron remover. I usually spray it all over each panel of the car when I clay it as well, I break the car up into sections. Is it any less effective doing it how you showed with a spray on the towel and one on the panel vs spraying it over the entire panel? Thank you so much. 💪🏼💪🏼
I think it depends on the condition of the car but for newer cars or average condition this doesn’t affect the outcome but for severe rail dust I would spray more heavily and let it sit a little then do the clay towel treatment
What a great video Chelsea. The only thing I would add is if you're using a "clay mitt" (PSDT for Yvan) is make sure you're using a surfactant based Iron Remover and not a solvent based. It will eat the mitt. I've heard Yvan mention that lately. For everyone else if you stick to the DIY Iron remover it will be fine to use.
Great clarification to make
Chelsea, do you apply any type of topper after you applied the McKees 37 graphene coating before you give it back to the customer or the coating is the last step? Thank you for your time.
I don’t typically because it can affect the curing of the coating but you can apply the max coating to shorten the cure time an hour after coating .
Hi Chelsea I am a big gloss fan and I wanted to know which ceramic coating do you recommend that has that super gloss finish.
They all seem pretty equal but Armour Pro Quartz and C6 hydro lite seem to stand out a bit
Awesome video Chelsea! Really well done and thought out.
@@CarSuppliesWarehouse thank you!
Nice work
Car turned out beautiful great color blue
Great video. Quick question. If something went wrong and you had to remove the ceramic coating, how would it be done? Thanks.
Is it fresh as in a few hours old or is it fully cured?
@attention2detailswchelsea Both, thx
Been watching you since the old days but I just don't like ceramic coatings. I don't think its worth the effort to encapsulate your car in basically ~ Glass that bonds to the clear coat and eventually chips away leaving a surface as rough as the surface of the moon on your car when viewed under a microscope. The SIo2 also wants to bond to the microfiber towels just as much as the cars surface leaving them ~well, in the trash.
Some love it, some enjoy wax and car therapy more. To each their own I suppose
@@attention2detailswchelsea Your still the hardest working detailer out there. I enjoy cars and wax therapy ~ 😁😁
Thank you for making this video, very informative and insightful!! Well Done!
Love your videos. Thanks for all that good information. 👌🏻👍🏻
New vs Used...
Prices can vary definitely with a newer vehicle vs used but only in labor, materials are normally still the same
Excellent !!..your experience shows in the results !!
Great info and video. You do an awesome job on your customers vehicles.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video, it's super helpful.
Another fantastic video, thank you.
Excellent. And another one
Great job! You really put it into perspective. You do use the SPTA Cordless polisher. How do you like it?
I really enjoy it for paint enhancements. Heavy correction I use my Carshield polisher but mainly use those two polishers now
A good video but there are more cost effective chemicals that work just as good as the popular/yt brand, lik superior products or 3d, plus you can buy in bulk to save money.
Very true but not everyone can store bulk or need products in bulk. I wanted to approach this more so for the enthusiast who thinks they can do it cheaper than a professional detailer and to show how much it would really cost to buy products
What has been the longevity you typically see with mckees ceramic? Is it chemical resistant? How would you rate the sickness? Thanks for the great video!
I’ve seen it last 1.5 yrs thus far from customers who have returned for maintenance washes and it still looks great. Slickness dies off over time but if you use their graphene detail spray or hydro graphene coating it gives you the slickness you are looking for
Great video Chelsea! Thanks for making one with this content! I was wondering what is your leather coating of choice? I didn’t see it listed in your products used list! I’m having hard time choosing one. Thanks!!!
I typically use cquartz leather coating for long term or DIY detail Interior Ceramic for a 6 month more affordable option for customers
@@attention2detailswchelsea thanks Chelsea!
Great video as always Chelsea.
Thanks!
Most ceramic coatings come in much smaller bottles than 4 oz.
Yes and they offer small size bottles but I buy it 4 oz at a time for value
@@attention2detailswchelseaI definitely understand, but for the DIYer, like myself, the shelf life issue rules out buying that large of a bottle. I've had great success with Ethos graphene coating.
@@marcg1964 a 4 Oz bottle could easily be consumed by a DIY’er that owns an RV or full size truck with a camper shell. Not sure why you have to come on here and be so negative on something so trivial, then push another product. Your application is not every application. Get over it.
