I grew up as one. My whole family stopped when I was 13. The door to door, preaching, strict rules. It's all real. I understand that it gave me the ability to speak in a convicting manner, but the separation from society, the not being able to convey what I thought about life and us, as humans...they lied to me. I was a child, so malleable, so willing to find purpose, a meaning to the chaos. People could say that life has no purpose, no meaning at all. Cover any ground, any argument against what I feel. All the way from "who hurt you bruh!?" To "I dunno maybe hes just stupid". But alas, as I sit here reflecting on my experience, and you, yours. It's just a matter of time, we all gonna die eventually.

Many who have left the organization thinking they were freed, well I would ask such people did you find the truth or did you simple left to be part of the world and do what you want? To me, I’m convinced JW are the only true Christians and outside of them there is no other religion that can even compare. I learned Gods name through them along with the truth of life and for that I’m really grateful.

@Carl Troke so Carla you think it's heartbreaking to follow what the Bible says at 1st Corinthians 5 1 through 13? It says to remove and unrepentant congregation , otherwise a small lump and ferment the whole lump, in other words contaminate the rest of the congregation. The Bible says we have to keep the congregation clean.. That's what the Bible says to remove them. Unlike many churches that will excommunicate you and not allow you to come back to the church, we allow the individual to sit in the Kingdom Hall and listen to all the meetings and work with the elders to repent of what he's done wrong. I have a disfellowshipped son he's 41 years old and he lives at home with me because he lost his job. So I will not throw him out in the street it would not be loving. So you see what you say is not true.

Christians are those who accept the teachings of the Bible and who, through the definition of the historic undivided Church, give assent to the Creed which includes the Holy Trinity, Divinity of Jesus the Christ, baptism in the Name of the Holy Trinity (Mtt. 28 !), etc. They use the 27 books of the Bible that have been accepted by the historic undivided Church. Church Fathers like Origen of Alexandria (c 185 to 254 C.E.) and the Easter Letter of Athanasius Bishop of Alexandria ( 367 C.E.), listed those same 27 books that we use today. Without any accepted Biblical scholars the J.W. organization has rewritten and reinterpreted the Scriptures in such a way that no Biblical Scholar (a person prepared in the original languages of Koine Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew who has shown to have studied the Scriptures in his educational field and has published his research for the critique of other scholars) can accept many of its teachings. J.W.s blithely accept the teachings (many times changing with "new light") of an organization that lacks Biblical scholarship that Christian churches would NEVER presume to do. Even the insistence on the name Jehovah shows this lack of true Biblical scholarship. The tetragrammaton was thought to be pronounced as "Jehovah" in the Renaissance and Reformation periods, Biblical scholarship beginning in the 19th century recovered the real pronunciation as YAHWEH. No one needs to apologize for referring to groups who do not accept the Creedal statements of the ancient and undivided Church as non-Christians. There are groups I met in Africa that worship one god and claim that Jesus was one of their prophets and that doesn't make them a Christian church. Where could I find a Kingdom Hall in 1800? Or in 1700? Or in 1400? Or in 1100? Or in 800? Or in 500? I could go on. Didn't Jesus promise to NEVER abandon His Church (Mtt.28: 20)? Yet believers in the Gospel were abandoned to false teaching until Charles Russell founded his Bible Student movement ? Was the Bible really mistranslated until 1950 when the organization, without a single Scripture scholar, changed many passages to suit their beliefs? If you choose to follow the J.W. organization, that's your business. Don't fault Christians for maintaining the Christian Faith of 2,000 years with history and the Holy Spirit to back it up.
Listen , When my mother forced me into this cult I was absolutely miserable . Starting from age 7 up until I was around 13 I had about enough ... I was always a very smart girl to know whatever she was trying to get me involved with was PURE EVIL . It got the point where I refused to be part of the occult or even participate . so she took it into her hands to ask the elders at the Kingdom Hall for advice and their advice was to throw me in a group home . That’s exactly what she did .... gave me up like I meant absolutely nothing to her and I was only 14/15 at that ..... A KID . I was Very lost very confused very hurt and I can never forgive her for destroying me leaving me feel so unloved and abandoned . Let me just say , this cult is extremely evil , manipulative, they destroy family’s , and do nothing but brainwash people. u become a slave mentality and physically and it’s sad that people don’t even realize it too. I’ve never experienced the things you did and I had many JW associations. I’m sorry to hear what happened to you. But I don’t agree with your statements on calling the organization evil. I experienced nothing not love and genuine warm hearted Christian brothers. I felt like family there. My first opposers to all this were my own family members which at first was hard for me to understand why. I asked myself how could my own family become so cold and hostile to me for learning the truth and sharing it with them? They were Catholics btw.

If I never got a blood transfusion I would’ve never had a spinal fusion at 16 by my corrupt and evil doctor. My parents are extreme sinners and divorced. They’ve ruined my childhood and life by being addicted to drugs, greed, gluttony. I have to live with my mother until I can get the rods removed, as they’ve caused me extreme pain. But she constantly blames me for the surgery and wasting her money. All I want is a family to just eat and talk to that aren’t sinners. I feel the world is so corrupt, I need to find like minded individuals. I agree with not celebrating many gluttonous and harmful holidays such as Christmas and birthdays. Just makes sense, every day is a holiday and gift from god, why must we bring pride and attention to ourselves so much. I like that they don’t support war either, jw just makes so much sense to me.

Most young people leave for many reasons that are not allowed as a Jehova witness, for example the want to start having sex or smoke pot, or some are gay and want to be free to do whatever they want. As for us older people, we've been in the mud and have done all kind of crazy things and when we find out about Jehová, we realize this is the right way, and wished we had listened to them in our younger years.

But before I tell you what they are, I will let you know that my mom and sister are part of that religion. And me myself, am ok with that religion. A leader that calls “All” the shots, and tricks his/hers followers into believing he/she has some kind of power. Or that he/she is god, or has a very strong connection to god. 2. A cult forces there followers into Isolation. Making them all stay in one place, close to the leader of the cult. Also they don’t allow there new followers to Socialize with anybody who is not part of the cult. 3. A cult gets there followers to give up all there money to the cult, or to have the follower give them a very high percentage of what they makes. Now all of these 3 examples don’t have anything to do with the Jehovah Witnesses. (1) They don’t have a leader, and there is no one claiming they are god, or speak to god directly. (2) All the followers have there freedom and are not Isolated. They can work whatever job they want, and they can talk with who ever they want. You probably walk pass a member today but didn’t notice because the act and look like everybody else. (3) No one is taking there money, they have the choice to donate money. Me for one, never donated money, and no one has ever asked me to. You probably wouldn’t even know where to donate unless you were looking for the donate box.

Nice Guy you are actually redefining a cult in order to avoid admitting that Jehovah’s Witnesses are in fact a cult. A personality cult like Jehovah’s Witnesses doesn’t have one leader that calls the shots but rather a group of leaders that calls the shots and makes extraordinary claims for themselves. The governing body who are in fact the leaders of Jehovah’s Witnesses do make extraordinary claims for themselves. They claim that in 1919 God chose them as his soul channel of communication with humanity. Jehovah’s Witnesses do in fact socially isolate their members from the outside world and repeatedly tell them not to have unnecessary contact with outside members and not to form friendships with non-witnesses. Not all cults go into isolation nor do they require all of their members to be in the same place. Look at Scientology or the Monies or the worldwide Church of God or in this case Jehovah’s Witnesses. The goal is to isolate them from outside influences and to limit their contact with nonmembers to avoid exposing them to potential information that could sway their thinking. Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot actually have any job they want as there are several jobs that involve interactions with other religious denominations and thus they are precluded from having those positions as well as any position that would put them in contact with the military. The idea that a cult has to take peoples money in order to be defined as a cult is simply false. The goal of the leadership could be money power authority or the leadership may simply be delusional and actually believe what they’re teaching but monetary acquisition is not a prerequisite of a cult. Jehovah’s Witnesses are a cult. They use shunning or disfellowshipping as they call it to keep people from leaving the organization and to keep them enslaved. A Jehovah’s Witness who raises objections to some of the teachings or policies of the organization will be branded and apostate and they will be slandered and their friends and family will be told to cut ties with them. Any organization that punishes you with predatory isolation and family estrangement for questioning what they teach is a cult.

@@hja52 never heard a brother or a sister call anyone a goat, infact people who arent receptive we actually like to understand their personal reasons why and we respect that, my grandfather once opposed JW when my dad was very young and he was one of JW he said JW were brainwashed and never let dad go to meetings, fastfoward many years later grandad became one of JW till the day he died. So even though someone may not be receptive we do not lose hope or call them goats. We love them and we try to help them. I tried so hard to study Jehovah witness but I wasn't born into it and I found it made me feel quilty nomadder what I did..I love them and I always will...it was my own falure..I was on drugs first of all.. second I couldn't just give up all the holidays and third of all I didn't agree with certain things like the no blood transfusion..it says don't drink blood, transfusion is threw the vein.i feel if you aren't born into it, it's very hard..But I have all the respect in the world for the jehovah witnesses also and I truly miss them.

About the meaning of "the Son of God" - in Israel, the son of a healer was a healer, the son of a prophet was a prophet, the son of a fisherman was a fisherman (Zebedee was a fisherman and his sons were fishermen, too), the son of a priest was a priest, the son of a carpenter was a carpenter, etc. Therefore, when Jesus said He was the Son of God before the Sanhedrin, the Sanhedrin regarded the claim as blasphemy. When Peter told Jesus he thought Jesus was the Son of the living God, what did Jesus say to Peter? That Peter figured that out with his human logic or reasoning? No, it was God who revealed it to Peter. It was impossible for Peter to grasp that with his human reasoning. In the same sense, the apostle John says it amounts to the conquest of this world to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We should accept and understand the expression "the Son of God" as those in Israel in the first century understood it - that by saying He was the Son of God, Jesus equated Himself with His Father in divine nature. The words of God should not be interpreted with human logic or reasoning. Consider the example of Psalm 2:7 - "You are my Son, Today I became your Father." By human logic, this verse means that the Son was created by the Father. But by divine logic, this is the prophecy about the resurrection of Jesus from the dead - compare with Acts 13:32-34. We should be careful not to subject the words of God to narrow boundaries of human reasoning. God bless.

God has a unique plan for each person, his way is good, he comes to give life and life more abundantly. Listen to God live the life he planned, you will enjoy what you do and be a witness on your own path. JW makes people keep a journal of a required amount of hours each month spent knocking on doors. Pretty legalistic.
@@101runaways I could not agree more. God has a plan for us all, healthy, rewarding, full of Love for one another and everything our heart desires if of the spirit. Not of things we attach ourselves with from the earth, big houses, cars and money etc... He will give us all that we need, and if it is a mansion so be it, as long as it don't make us greedy and feel superior to the less fortunate. We reep what we sow, we give to the poor, God repays us with good things that suit us. He comes first in everything. As for JW keeping a journal on the time spent out and about.... what happens when they don't perform as other members of the watchtower? Are they forced to do this, are they punished if they don't? Are they working for God or man?
Had them knock at my door once. I looked out to see 2 women in their 50’s and one girl who was about 25 and absolutely model material. I’ll admit it made open the door to see what was up. As soon as I did the younger girl stepped back and the 2 other ladies stepped in front of her and started their pitch. I almost called them out on it. Just said no thanks.
Those sound like Mormon women preachers. They use a tactic of bringing about pretty young girls to lure people in. Mormon men are the same. They have these young charismatic Mormon men who try to lure people in, that’s how my mom converted really fast. I was like how did she joined their religion really fast? When JW would teach she didn’t even bother. Jehovah’s witnesses typically are elderly women and couples and their daughter or son possibly. They don’t try to lure people in. For them, if you are interested in the truth they teach you further, if you don’t then usually they stop. But they are still doing Gods will and fulfilling Mathew 24:14.

One other thing, how can you explain Jesus saying "I am in the Father, as the Father is in me" if Jesus isn't God in the flesh?

Latter-day Saints (16 million followers) founder Joseph Smith, Jehovah's Witnesses (8 million followers) founder Charles Taze Russell, Seventh-day Adventists, (20 million followers) founder Joseph Bates. All these American movements announce "the moment is near", all proselytize, all demonize the world, all claim to have the truth, all have their world headquarters in the USA, and to top it off, all have a governing body exclusively made Americans. All these movements are in fact the product of an era, nothing more. Time will continue to pass with its vicissitudes without worrying about these small American movements which ultimately represent nothing on a global scale.

Back in the early 90s I was living on the top floor of an apartment building in Queens New York City. On a hot humid Saturday morning in August my doorbell rang. When I opened the door there was a JW women with her son who about 5 years old. The poor kid was wearing a suit and carrying a heavy suitcase. The mother asked me what do I think the biggest problem in the world is today. I looked at that poor child and the first thing that came out of my mouth was child abuse. I got the kid some cold water. I told the mother your poor child is sweating like crazy. You need to get him hydrated and a house with air conditioning. If you do not leave this building immediately I will call the police on you for child abuse. She thanked me and did leave. 30 years later I still regret not calling the police on that woman.
I've been doing Bible Studies for the past several months and I'm loving it. Its been the happiest times and challenging as Satan is trying his best to make me stop my studies. I'm still learning about the Religion but so far from what I've observed they're very normal people who are very misunderstood and theres a lot of false accusations made about JW so before you believe any gossip or news you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and do your own personal investigation if you're genuinely curious...that's what I've done. They never pressured me in anyway and you can ask a million questions and they'll respectfully and patiently answer you. Do your research and they encourage that. I admire there dedicated research and I love how seriously they take the word of God and want to share it. If theres good news, it's meant to be shared.

This video neglects to inform the viewer that Jehovah’s Witnesses can be disfellowshipped which involves being cut off by every member of the church including their friends and family if they choose to get a blood transfusion. It also neglected to highlight the controversial issues surrounding their belief in covering up the sexual abuse of children and not reporting it to police. They also didn’t talk about the fact that disfellowshiping Is used as blackmail to keep people from speaking out about disagreements they have with the beliefs or policies, it is also used to silence those who try to come forward about sexual abuse.

Polite is one thing, however they have a strict shunning policy of former baptised members if those members choose not to return to the religion. If a person in the congregation unrepentantly practices gross sin, God requires that he be disfellowshiped. If we remain loyal to God and to the congregation by not speaking to the disfellowshipped person, the wrongdoer may in time take a lesson from that, repent and be reinstated in the congregation. It is the disfellowshiped person who has made problems for himself and for his relative.

If a member refuses to follow those rules and requirements, the club will oftentimes "disfellowship" or revoke their membership from the club. If a person commits a serious crime such as theft, fraud or an act of violence, they are thrown into a 6ft. by 6ft. cell and not permitted visitors and normal association for what can amount to several years or more. Hello, I recently purchased three t-shirts for my grandson they have dinosaurs on them but the dinosaurs also are wearing Santa hats and there are Christmas trees and candy canes on the shirts as well. My grandson is 3 years old and being raised by his grandmother. She is a Jehovah Witness and has indicated that she cannot allow my grandson to wear anything that may be construed as Christmas themed. I'm just wondering if this would be the case with my grandson? It did occur to me that some things may be happening, no one organization is perfect. I trust that what ever house cleaning needs to be done, will be handled. Our KH is being sold, mostly due to the many attendees are getting old, and we can't keep up the 'upkeep'. it's a small hall, one of the older ones in the area. As far as Pedophiles... I know how they can be, and could infiltrate any Faith, school, sports organization, Office Worker, Baby Sitters...any where you look - there are Abusers looking for a VICTIM. There are legal implications, that need to be handled legally - and many times people rely on the wrong people to take action. They go to someone, and unload their Responsibility in this - because NO one is Brave enough, or Emotional Strong enough to say - Stop. And in the case of children - WE all never Teach them to be Aware of Bad People. I know from my own experience, that abuse is kept hidden for decades, mostly because of Fear. I was a jw from june 2010 to october 2019, it is a very dangerous cult, I was very dissappointed in the sect when I did my research, which I should've done when I first joined. Damn! They caught me when I was 18 freshly graduated from high school, inexpierenced, and gullible.

One of the things I pointed out to them is that, even tho they claim to search for "honest hearted people", I told them that they are really fishing for people who are vunerable, gullible, don't have experience or never read the bible, and lack self esteem or self confidence. But there needs to be proof, and there are scriptural guidelines for that. Child abuse is not a JW problem, but a people problem. When such are found out, they are dealt with.

Edit: 1/9/21 Chile anyway so I was doing bible studies with the “sisters”? But as I kept attending some of the things that they were teaching were not clicking right with me....so I’ve cut contact with the girl who was teaching me, we left in good terms. For the past 5 months I’ve been searching for something deep from Christianity to Catholic but Chile its a no go fa me. Ive noticed that I’m more “happy/myself” when I’m spiritually connected to the earth. I am doing way more meditation which is so hard but I’ve come along way. I feel more at peace with myself. Thus all your friends end up being JWs and when you leave they’ll stop taking to you because you become worst than a “worldly” person. Another thing, the Watchtower Organization will take up all your time with many activities designed to keep you inside and when you leave you’ll see that you’ve spent years working for free for the advancement of the organization and you have nothing. No skills, no training, no nothing. It’s basically indentured servitude. Run away or pay the price your choice.

Many people leave because they find their trust is betrayed by the watchtower organization. A person should be realistic about the ability of the Watchtower Witness Organization to interpret the Scriptures. To date there has been a proven time prophecy failure rate of 100%. The Watchtower Witness Organization used Bible prophecy to explain that the following dates were of significance: 1780, 1799, 1829, 1844, 1846, 1872, 1874, 1875, 1878, 1880, 1881, 1891, 1906, 1910, 1915, 1920, 1921, 1925, 1935 and 1975. Every single one of these interpretations is now admitted as wrong. Even 1914, 1918 and 1919 were not fulfilled as expected and subsequently reinterpreted after the event. 1918 now meaningless as is 1935. This does not inspire confidence that Holy Spirit guides Watchtower Witness Organization Bible interpretations, or that current understanding of 1914 is correct.

This group went before the European Commission of Human Rights and openly lied about their stance on blood transfusion and more specifically, the expulsion of members who accept this procedure. The "persecution" they have incurred is deserved at this point.

What do you expect them to do? If your saying that everything they believe in is fake, do you expect them to invite you to there next camping trip? Also a real cult doesn’t let there followers leave. Now your second point. What do you mean forbidden? I know they Recommend us not to, although I can’t remember the last time they did. But I can look up some expose videos right now if I want to, and they can’t stop me. They probably wouldn’t care. Your 3rd point is also weak. Yes they recommend us to have friends who are part of the organization. But again that’s something they can’t stop and wouldn’t try to stop. Like I said in one of my points, a real cult keeps there followers in one place. Now we spent most of our time with people who are not part of the organization. While we are in school or at work. Now if they really wanted to brainwash people. Why let them be with people who ain’t part of the organization? Why not make there own schools or work place? Now if someone does something bad like that and the friends of the person tries to hide it, then those people shouldn’t be part of the organization. My personal experience, someone in my hall did a sexual crime, and that person is in jail right now because the elders told the police. So I’m not Convince it’s a cult . They are told to soley obey the governing body and to not even question the elders, the entire model of living is designed to keep them isolated from anyone not inside the cult (bad association is what we are and told to stay away from) and you are constantly pressured for money. Steven Lett, a governing body member was on JW broadcasting telling JWs that they were spending more than what was coming in, and people needed to provide more. J M Well I don’t know what hall you came from (which I’m guessing you use to be part of the organization) . But my experience has been nothing like that. I have been doing whatever I want so far. And I feel no pressure, and I’m not isolated at all. I haven’t even gotten baptized because I don’t feel like it, and the elders barely mention me it. I would recommend you to actually look up the history of real Confirmed cults in the pass. I bet you would see a huge difference. Because I did see some expose videos, and people calling the religion a cult. So I looked into some real cults in the pass, and I was really confused about why people where saying that we were a cult. It doesn’t even compare a little. And what do you mean my examples match perfectly? 1. Who is our human leader that is saying that they are god, or who claims they speak Directly to god? 2. How are we isolated? A person that is isolated it’s allowed allowed to have a phone, or to have a car to drive to whatever place they want, or to work at any job they want. Who is stopping me from going to different church? 3. How have they taken my money? Because as far as know. I haven’t donated even a single dollar.

Think of the implications(spiritual death/eternal separation from God/Jesus and the Holy Spirit) the new world translation makes from God's true bible. Clarify a claim made 1 minute in about JWs at bethel "foregoing rights, like they are not allowed to have children." People don't get in trouble for having kids... it's just a full time commitment. If you have kids, you should be focusing on them. Most people who serve at bethel only do it for a few years, then move on with their lives, have a family and all that. There's no shame or punishment if you can no longer dedicate your time to the commitment. But they want people to focus while they're there. (Also, the food there is pretty good)
It is completely accurate that you cannot serve at Bethel and have children. If a couple is found to be pregnant, they are asked to leave. It's as simple as that.

But do you understand the difference between that and the place "forbidding you from having children?" They don't force birth control or get you in trouble or anything... But married couples that are accepted, are given very clear instruction (some may say warning), that if pregnant they would be asked to leave. So yes a married couple is forbidden from having children and serving at Bethel. I am not sure why this statement bothers you, as it is absolutely factual. Most of the time, if a couple decided to have children, they would leave, set up shop, and THEN try to get pregnant. So if someone at bethel gets preggers there, it is usually an "accident", and it causes their lives a major upheaval as not only are they going through a major life change, but they have now also lost the security of their dwelling and basic needs. Calling something out as a lie is not a form of persecution. Persecution is when you use media and construct laws to disrupt people’s lives. Those tactics usually encourage others to attack you socially and even physically. No one has said Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot drink from this water fountain and cannot eat at this restaurant. No one has used media to say, these people are bad and we will show only them doing bad things. If Jehovah’s Witnesses never use social media they’d never know. They are allowed to go about their lives and preach. That’s not persecution.

I was a child, so malleable, so willing to find purpose, a meaning to the chaos. People could say that life has no purpose, no meaning at all. Cover any ground, any argument against what I feel. All the way from "who hurt you bruh!?" To "I dunno maybe hes just stupid". But alas, as I sit here reflecting on my experience, and you, yours. It says to remove and unrepentant congregation , otherwise a small lump and ferment the whole lump, in other words contaminate the rest of the congregation. The Bible says we have to keep the congregation clean.. That's what the Bible says to remove them. Unlike many churches that will excommunicate you and not allow you to come back to the church, we allow the individual to sit in the Kingdom Hall and listen to all the meetings and work with the elders to repent of what he's done wrong. I have a disfellowshipped son he's 41 years old and he lives at home with me because he lost his job. So I will not throw him out in the street it would not be loving. So you see what you say is not true.

Even the insistence on the name Jehovah shows this lack of true Biblical scholarship. The tetragrammaton was thought to be pronounced as "Jehovah" in the Renaissance and Reformation periods, Biblical scholarship beginning in the 19th century recovered the real pronunciation as YAHWEH. No one needs to apologize for referring to groups who do not accept the Creedal statements of the ancient and undivided Church as non-Christians. There are groups I met in Africa that worship one god and claim that Jesus was one of their prophets and that doesn't make them a Christian church. Where could I find a Kingdom Hall in 1800? Or in 1700? Or in 1400? Or in 1100? Or in 800? Or in 500? I could go on. Didn't Jesus promise to NEVER abandon His Church (Mtt.28: 20)? Yet believers in the Gospel were abandoned to false teaching until Charles Russell founded his Bible Student movement ? Was the Bible really mistranslated until 1950 when the organization, without a single Scripture scholar, changed many passages to suit their beliefs? If you choose to follow the J.W. organization, that's your business. Don't fault Christians for maintaining the Christian Faith of 2,000 years with history and the Holy Spirit to back it up.
Listen , When my mother forced me into this cult I was absolutely miserable . Starting from age 7 up until I was around 13 I had about enough ... I was always a very smart girl to know whatever she was trying to get me involved with was PURE EVIL . If I never got a blood transfusion I would’ve never had a spinal fusion at 16 by my corrupt and evil doctor. My parents are extreme sinners and divorced. They’ve ruined my childhood and life by being addicted to drugs, greed, gluttony. I have to live with my mother until I can get the rods removed, as they’ve caused me extreme pain. But she constantly blames me for the surgery and wasting her money. All I want is a family to just eat and talk to that aren’t sinners. Most young people leave for many reasons that are not allowed as a Jehova witness, for example the want to start having sex or smoke pot, or some are gay and want to be free to do whatever they want. As for us older people, we've been in the mud and have done all kind of crazy things and when we find out about Jehová, we realize this is the right way, and wished we had listened to them in our younger years.

And what makes you believe that they are a cult? Because all cults have 3 things in common. But before I tell you what they are, I will let you know that my mom and sister are part of that religion. Anyhow, these are what all cults have in common.
1. A leader that calls “All” the shots, and tricks his/hers followers into believing he/she has some kind of power. Or that he/she is god, or has a very strong connection to god.
2. A cult forces there followers into Isolation. Making them all stay in one place, close to the leader of the cult. Also they don’t allow there new followers to Socialize with anybody who is not part of the cult.
3. A cult gets there followers to give up all there money to the cult, or to have the follower give them a very high percentage of what they makes.
Now all of these 3 examples don’t have anything to do with the Jehovah Witnesses.
(1) They don’t have a leader, and there is no one claiming they are god, or speak to god directly. (2) All the followers have there freedom and are not Isolated. They can work whatever job they want, and they can talk with who ever they want. You probably walk pass a member today but didn’t notice because the act and look like everybody else.
(3) No one is taking there money, they have the choice to donate money. Me for one, never donated money, and no one has ever asked me to. You probably wouldn’t even know where to donate unless you were looking for the donate box.

A personality cult like Jehovah’s Witnesses doesn’t have one leader that calls the shots but rather a group of leaders that calls the shots and makes extraordinary claims for themselves. The governing body who are in fact the leaders of Jehovah’s Witnesses do make extraordinary claims for themselves. They claim that in 1919 God chose them as his soul channel of communication with humanity.
Jehovah’s Witnesses do in fact socially isolate their members from the outside world and repeatedly tell them not to have unnecessary contact with outside members and not to form friendships with non-witnesses. Not all cults go into isolation nor do they require all of their members to be in the same place. Look at Scientology or the Monies or the worldwide Church of God or in this case Jehovah’s Witnesses. The goal is to isolate them from outside influences and to limit their contact with nonmembers to avoid exposing them to potential information that could sway their thinking.
Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot actually have any job they want as there are several jobs that involve interactions with other religious denominations and thus they are precluded from having those positions as well as any position that would put them in contact with the military.
The idea that a cult has to take peoples money in order to be defined as a cult is simply false.
The goal of the leadership could be money power authority or the leadership may simply be delusional and actually believe what they’re teaching but monetary acquisition is not a prerequisite of a cult.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are a cult. They use shunning or disfellowshipping as they call it to keep people from leaving the organization and to keep them enslaved. A Jehovah’s Witness who raises objections to some of the teachings or policies of the organization will be branded and apostate and they will be slandered and their friends and family will be told to cut ties with them. Any organization that punishes you with predatory isolation and family estrangement for questioning what they teach is a cult.

I tried so hard to study Jehovah witness but I wasn't born into it and I found it made me feel quilty nomadder what I did..I love them and I always will...it was my own falure..I was on drugs first of all.. second I couldn't just give up all the holidays and third of all I didn't agree with certain things like the no blood transfusion..it says don't drink blood, transfusion is threw the vein.i feel if you aren't born into it, it's very hard..But I have all the respect in the world for the jehovah witnesses also and I truly miss them.

When Peter told Jesus he thought Jesus was the Son of the living God, what did Jesus say to Peter? That Peter figured that out with his human logic or reasoning? No, it was God who revealed it to Peter. It was impossible for Peter to grasp that with his human reasoning. In the same sense, the apostle John says it amounts to the conquest of this world to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We should accept and understand the expression "the Son of God" as those in Israel in the first century understood it - that by saying He was the Son of God, Jesus equated Himself with His Father in divine nature. The words of God should not be interpreted with human logic or reasoning. Consider the example of Psalm 2:7 - "You are my Son, Today I became your Father." By human logic, this verse means that the Son was created by the Father. But by divine logic, this is the prophecy about the resurrection of Jesus from the dead - compare with Acts 13:32-34. God has a unique plan for each person, his way is good, he comes to give life and life more abundantly. Had them knock at my door once. I looked out to see 2 women in their 50’s and one girl who was about 25 and absolutely model material. I’ll admit it made open the door to see what was up. When JW would teach she didn’t even bother. Jehovah’s witnesses typically are elderly women and couples and their daughter or son possibly. They don’t try to lure people in. For them, if you are interested in the truth they teach you further, if you don’t then usually they stop. But they are still doing Gods will and fulfilling Mathew 24:14.

Back in the early 90s I was living on the top floor of an apartment building in Queens New York City. On a hot humid Saturday morning in August my doorbell rang. When I opened the door there was a JW women with her son who about 5 years old. The poor kid was wearing a suit and carrying a heavy suitcase. The mother asked me what do I think the biggest problem in the world is today. I looked at that poor child and the first thing that came out of my mouth was child abuse. I got the kid some cold water. I told the mother your poor child is sweating like crazy. You need to get him hydrated and a house with air conditioning. If you do not leave this building immediately I will call the police on you for child abuse. She thanked me and did leave. 30 years later I still regret not calling the police on that woman.
I've been doing Bible Studies for the past several months and I'm loving it. Its been the happiest times and challenging as Satan is trying his best to make me stop my studies. I'm still learning about the Religion but so far from what I've observed they're very normal people who are very misunderstood and theres a lot of false accusations made about JW so before you believe any gossip or news you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and do your own personal investigation if you're genuinely curious...that's what I've done. They never pressured me in anyway and you can ask a million questions and they'll respectfully and patiently answer you. Do your research and they encourage that. If a person in the congregation unrepentantly practices gross sin, God requires that he be disfellowshiped. If we remain loyal to God and to the congregation by not speaking to the disfellowshipped person, the wrongdoer may in time take a lesson from that, repent and be reinstated in the congregation. It is the disfellowshiped person who has made problems for himself and for his relative.

If a person commits a serious crime such as theft, fraud or an act of violence, they are thrown into a 6ft. by 6ft. cell and not permitted visitors and normal association for what can amount to several years or more. I recently purchased three t-shirts for my grandson they have dinosaurs on them but the dinosaurs also are wearing Santa hats and there are Christmas trees and candy canes on the shirts as well. My grandson is 3 years old and being raised by his grandmother. She is a Jehovah Witness and has indicated that she cannot allow my grandson to wear anything that may be construed as Christmas themed. I'm just wondering if this would be the case with my grandson? I'm not looking to cause trouble I just am curious what the rules are.

It did occur to me that some things may be happening, no one organization is perfect. I trust that what ever house cleaning needs to be done, will be handled. Edit: 1/9/21 Chile anyway so I was doing bible studies with the “sisters”? But as I kept attending some of the things that they were teaching were not clicking right with me....so I’ve cut contact with the girl who was teaching me, we left in good terms. For the past 5 months I’ve been searching for something deep from Christianity to Catholic but Chile its a no go fa me. Ive noticed that I’m more “happy/myself” when I’m spiritually connected to the earth. I am doing way more meditation which is so hard but I’ve come along way. I feel more at peace with myself. The JWs frown upon relationships with outsiders who they call “worldly”. Thus all your friends end up being JWs and when you leave they’ll stop taking to you because you become worst than a “worldly” person.
Another thing, the Watchtower Organization will take up all your time with many activities designed to keep you inside and when you leave you’ll see that you’ve spent years working for free for the advancement of the organization and you have nothing. No skills, no training, no nothing. It’s basically indentured servitude.

A person should be realistic about the ability of the Watchtower Witness Organization to interpret the Scriptures. To date there has been a proven time prophecy failure rate of 100%. The Watchtower Witness Organization used Bible prophecy to explain that the following dates were of significance: 1780, 1799, 1829, 1844, 1846, 1872, 1874, 1875, 1878, 1880, 1881, 1891, 1906, 1910, 1915, 1920, 1921, 1925, 1935 and 1975. Every single one of these interpretations is now admitted as wrong. Even 1914, 1918 and 1919 were not fulfilled as expected and subsequently reinterpreted after the event. 1918 now meaningless as is 1935. This does not inspire confidence that Holy Spirit guides Watchtower Witness Organization Bible interpretations, or that current understanding of 1914 is correct.

And what makes you believe that they are a cult? Because all cults have 3 things in common. But before I tell you what they are, I will let you know that my mom and sister are part of that religion. And me myself, am ok with that religion. Although, yet to this day I refuse to get fully involved with them because of my own personal reasons.
Anyhow, these are what all cults have in common.
1. A leader that calls “All” the shots, and tricks his/hers followers into believing he/she has some kind of power. Or that he/she is god, or has a very strong connection to god.
2. A cult forces there followers into Isolation. Making them all stay in one place, close to the leader of the cult. Also they don’t allow there new followers to Socialize with anybody who is not part of the cult.
3. A cult gets there followers to give up all there money to the cult, or to have the follower give them a very high percentage of what they makes.
Now all of these 3 examples don’t have anything to do with the Jehovah Witnesses.
(1) They don’t have a leader, and there is no one claiming they are god, or speak to god directly. (2) All the followers have there freedom and are not Isolated. They can work whatever job they want, and they can talk with who ever they want. You probably walk pass a member today but didn’t notice because the act and look like everybody else.
(3) No one is taking there money, they have the choice to donate money. Me for one, never donated money, and no one has ever asked me to. You probably wouldn’t even know where to donate unless you were looking for the donate box.

I wish you would have responded to my examples, but ok. You kind of just looked into one of them.
So to your first point. Of course most people would stop talking to you if you leave. What do you expect them to do? If your saying that everything they believe in is fake, do you expect them to invite you to there next camping trip? Also a real cult doesn’t let there followers leave.
Now your second point. What do you mean forbidden? I know they Recommend us not to, although I can’t remember the last time they did. But I can look up some expose videos right now if I want to, and they can’t stop me. They probably wouldn’t care.
Your 3rd point is also weak. Yes they recommend us to have friends who are part of the organization. But again that’s something they can’t stop and wouldn’t try to stop. Like I said in one of my points, a real cult keeps there followers in one place. Now we spent most of our time with people who are not part of the organization. While we are in school or at work. Now if they really wanted to brainwash people. Why let them be with people who ain’t part of the organization? Why not make there own schools or work place?
Now your 4th point isn’t just a cult thing by the way. Lots of non religious organization hide that kind of stuff. Anyhow, that’s one example that may be true. I don’t know. Now if someone does something bad like that and the friends of the person tries to hide it, then those people shouldn’t be part of the organization. My personal experience, someone in my hall did a sexual crime, and that person is in jail right now because the elders told the police.
So I’m not Convince it’s a cult . If you don’t like the organization, just say you don’t. But to call it a cult is simply not true.

They are told to soley obey the governing body and to not even question the elders, the entire model of living is designed to keep them isolated from anyone not inside the cult (bad association is what we are and told to stay away from) and you are constantly pressured for money. Steven Lett, a governing body member was on JW broadcasting telling JWs that they were spending more than what was coming in, and people needed to provide more. JW match perfectly to all 3 of your examples.

Well I don’t know what hall you came from (which I’m guessing you use to be part of the organization) . But my experience has been nothing like that. I have been doing whatever I want so far. And I feel no pressure, and I’m not isolated at all. I haven’t even gotten baptized because I don’t feel like it, and the elders barely mention me it.
I would recommend you to actually look up the history of real Confirmed cults in the pass. I bet you would see a huge difference. Because I did see some expose videos, and people calling the religion a cult. So I looked into some real cults in the pass, and I was really confused about why people where saying that we were a cult. It doesn’t even compare a little.
And what do you mean my examples match perfectly?
1. Who is our human leader that is saying that they are god, or who claims they speak Directly to god?
2. How are we isolated? A person that is isolated it’s allowed allowed to have a phone, or to have a car to drive to whatever place they want, or to work at any job they want. Who is stopping me from going to different church?
3. How have they taken my money? Because as far as know. I haven’t donated even a single dollar.

Clarify a claim made 1 minute in about JWs at bethel "foregoing rights, like they are not allowed to have children."
People don't get in trouble for having kids... it's just a full time commitment. If you have kids, you should be focusing on them. Most people who serve at bethel only do it for a few years, then move on with their lives, have a family and all that. There's no shame or punishment if you can no longer dedicate your time to the commitment. But they want people to focus while they're there.
(Also, the food there is pretty good)
It is completely accurate that you cannot serve at Bethel and have children. If a couple is found to be pregnant, they are asked to leave. It's as simple as that.

But married couples that are accepted, are given very clear instruction (some may say warning), that if pregnant they would be asked to leave.
So yes a married couple is forbidden from having children and serving at Bethel. I am not sure why this statement bothers you, as it is absolutely factual.
Most of the time, if a couple decided to have children, they would leave, set up shop, and THEN try to get pregnant. So if someone at bethel gets preggers there, it is usually an "accident", and it causes their lives a major upheaval as not only are they going through a major life change, but they have now also lost the security of their dwelling and basic needs.

Calling something out as a lie is not a form of persecution. Persecution is when you use media and construct laws to disrupt people’s lives. Those tactics usually encourage others to attack you socially and even physically.
No one has said Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot drink from this water fountain and cannot eat at this restaurant. No one has used media to say, these people are bad and we will show only them doing bad things.
If Jehovah’s Witnesses never use social media they’d never know. They are allowed to go about their lives and preach.
