  • In this introductory video, we are looking at different types of bits and cutting tools for our CNC projects! CNC mills and routers like the Carvera and Carvera Air can manufacture a wide range of projects with many different materials, and choosing the right bit is key for finding success!
In this video, we look at spiral o, ball nose, engraving bits, drill bits, and more as we cover the basics for beginners and users who are new to CNC machines and subtractive manufacturing.

IMO this is the missing manual content every owner who is new to CNC needs. Thanks for making it, and keep content like this coming. One topic I would love to see covered is how to properly and strategically handle jobs where you need to rotate the work piece 90 degrees. For example, if you are shelling out an enclosure, but need to carve out some holes for jacks along the side. Assuming every piece of stock is slightly different, what are the best pratices and recommended order of operations?

Thank you for your comment and support, as well as for your feedback! We are striving to provide more introductory tutorials and guides like these, and will look into creating a more detailed one for rotations. In the meantime, we showcase how to use the manual xyz probe for a 90 degree flip in this tutorial which may be helpful: th-cam.com/video/8rzZI3amxnw/w-d-xo.html

Second this, the bits, and a nice table of speeds and feeds for materials, (the list of material sold by Carvera would be perfect) Help reduce the learning curve. Videos are great. but a table to look up information like this works a lot faster then searching videos..

@@infamy4k it's true... there's no reason for me to think "how to do rotations... oh, it must be in the Tic Tac Toe video!"

I have a request. How do you "home" the part like at 5:00 to perform the thread or the hole? Once you have milled the part, you flip it 90 degree and mill again but how do you set your 0 ? The manual probe cant be used when the part dont have 90 degree angle right?

Correct, you would use the manual XYZ probe for this as shown in this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/yNCbZI0ndpA/w-d-xo.html

@@Makera a bit hard for parts that are not flat or have 90 degree sides no?
