I have all the tables for FX3, and the new FX seems like a money grab. I didn't buy all the tables just for them to re-release them at full price again. Existing table owners should get the tables at a considerable discount.

@@pinballwiz45b Yes, but not enough. Anything less than a 60% discount is a spit in the eye to those who have spent good money on the tables already IMO. I'll just stick with FX3 and save my money and avoid Zen's money grab.

He definitely has a point of the naming also, because I'm just starting to get into some arcade style gaming, bought an Atgames ALU a month ago, and plan on buying the 4K ALP when it's released, and I've seen videos of people using the PinballFX and FX3 on their ALP machines, and then got really confused the FX is newer and comes after comes after FX3. This video at least clarifies that issue for me.

Only Portal and Walking Dead are not jumping over. 33 remasters remain to be released on FX as of today. Bethesda should be no problem; the remastering process I imagine takes quite a bit of time to get right. Jurassic Park is in there -- look under "Universal Pinball".
We didn't get Ninja Gaiden on PC. Gotta enjoy console exclusive titles.
We had an opportunity to purchase tables individually but with an in-game currency. Stackable discounts based on number of tables purchased.
We were fortunate enough to get tables transferred over throughout FX, FX2, and FX3's lifespan. I can imagine a lot of costs transferring everyone's tables over, and even the process from FX2 to FX3 wasn't all that perfect.

  • @gregg5958
    @gregg5958 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I think some of the older tables just aren’t there YET because of resources. They couldn’t work on all these new tables AND work on ALL of the old tables too. So a compromise was made else the release would have had to be pushed even further back. I think they made the right decision. Given a choice what would you have done? Only bring the old tables over? Then people would complain there was nothing new.
We are already seeing releases and information far quicker than they ever have shared as a company ever before. It was a painful and looooong transition, but it was worthwhile. Now they can move forward and it will be bigger and better ultimately!!

Pretty sure Zen already confirmed all classic tables eventually coming back. The feeling you have with the Noir table is probably a lot like the feeling i get with the Brothers In Arms one: It's one of my favorite shooter series of all times (first 3 main games obviously) and the table captures the essence perfectly, pure nostalgia. Zen really know what they're doing when it comes to the licensed tables.

They are it’s gonna be in zen original pack 2. They are working on bringing back all tables from fx3 and even some from fx2 (southpark ) I agree that it would be amazing if this had all happened at once but I think they just needed to get the game out to get things and money rolling in to keep green lighting stuff after the big Covid delays

One other thing that I consider a big upgrade is getting a new ESRB rating, meaning that original artwork can be freely used on tables across all releases (barring licensing issues for celebrity likenesses). The guy in No Good Gofers just didn't look right without his cigar!

I am loving the animation and surely that's the bonus niche to the virtual compared to mechanical. The added depth to these tables also seems mind blowing. I'm new to pinball and started to play Fishtales on FX3 on xbox about 1 month ago and really liked it and was going to buy the Indiana Jones table for it (as I loved that one growing up as a kid) but it was $23 AU and seemed a bit much for a table and then I heard about Pinball FX is even newer and tried that and the graphics seems a bit worse on xbox and the tables are more expensive. Also, I'm only a part time player and don't like the pretend tables and only like the real tables like Adam Family, Getaway and Indiana Jones. I tried a few fake ones and they don't feel fun to me but I really enjoy the Williams ones.
Just yesterday I checked the xbox store and seems there is a sales on with tables at a big discount so I will be buying some for sure. Indiana was $23 now its $8 so definitely worth it for that price and will be giving it a go.

I am not going to buy all of those tables again just to have them on the new engine. They've just chosen a really bad way to do things in this version.

I suspect some of the very old tables are missing is because some of them were flipped copies of real-world tables they didn't have the rights to. (Early Zen was naughty Zen. I don't think they ever thought they'd be in a position where one day they could be business partners with Bally Williams, Stern etc.)

Pinball FX has improved over the last year, but is still a gigantic disappointment in my eyes.
Comparing the PC versions, PFX3 looks better, sounds better and plays better as far as the Williams tables are concerned.
The only (slight) improvement I see is in the physics on the non-Williams tables where the ball now has some bounce and doesn't drop dead on the flippers anymore.
The downside is that there now is even less of a 'feel' of weight, with the ball seemingly made of rubber rather than steel.
There's a jumpy quality to ball behaviour that just doesn't seem right.
Audio is worse now; same sounds, but awfully balanced and significantly distorted ROM audio in the case of some Williams tables.
Overall, rather then the jump in simulation quality I hoped for FX is IMO a downgrade and offers no incentive to move over from FX3.
Shame really, I would'nt have a problem paying for tables I already own provided the experience is substantially improved, but I guess I can keep the money in my pocket now.

I agree. I don't understand how every comment doesn't mention that graphically FX is noticeably inferior. I don't like the springy rubbery physics although I could see how that at least could be a preference thing. I get weird judders and hitching in gameplay on FX, whereas FX3 is buttery smooth. The new tables seem cartoony and overly saturated. The whole FX game seems to be a huge step backwards. I like buying the occasional new table... and now I just won't.

Aside from the need to purchase the same tables again (which, if I absolutely had to I wouldn't mind), I've heard people say that the physics are different. Now, I constantly go back and forth between PBFX3 and Zaccaria Pinball, which have completely different physics, and I've been able to adapt to each pretty easily. I don't think the physics in this would be a major issue for me with the tables in this. I like to see it as if each product was a different venue, and the duplicate tables in each, especially if they're older machines, are likely not to have the EXACT same fine-tuned physics.
*As a contextual example:* I went to two different pinball arcade venues one time a few years ago, and the Attack From Mars at one venue didn't feel like it had quite the same physics as the Attack From Mars at a sister venue down the street, but I managed to adapt.
The only other issue I've heard about is a very miniscule flipper lag. I'd have to feel that for myself to form an opinion on.
If anything, It'd probably only be for tables I don't already own, and it seems like there are QUITE A LOT!
That said, I'm gonna remain optimistic about this product and give it a chance, and disregard the bad aspects unless they make themselves too prevalent for me to stick around.

There needs to be more on a ladder style play, i only play the williams set now but wouldnt mind buying in to things like they had in 3 with the ladder system. For me, I am disappointed that Pinball FX, has caused them to drop new tables support for Pinball FX2. I committed to FX2 on the Mac, and no more tables being added. That plus there is no new version for the Mac to enable play of the newer tables, Like Addams Family or Indiana Jones. I asked questions on their website and email distro, and no answer. I prefer someone to say they dropped FX2 support, instead of ignoring me.i committed a lot of funds to their game when I purchased many tables. FX2 is frozen in time.

ZP2 uses the PX engine, and while FX3 has Indy there, I wonder if system specifications are a factor, and how many Mac users would have ended up purchasing Indy on Zen Pinball 2.
Anyway, Zen completely hopped from PX to Unreal, which is why we haven't seen Addams Family or World Cup on FX3/ZP2. Given Zen Pinball Party on Apple Arcade, time will tell if (or when) FX arrives on Mac.

Follow up: I got a reply after a 3rd email to tech support. Here is the reply not great news.. "Thank you for writing. Mac as a platform is an interesting topic since it is not the most ideal platform for gaming. Our products were having issues too. We won't release new tables or content on Mac. Windows and consoles are now the main platform for the newest tables and content. Sorry about the inconveniences."

I've bought all their tables multiple times. But I'm just not doing it again and I'm not paying a subscription either. Unfortunately Pinball FX3 is it for me. The Indiana Jones table for that game will be my last Zen Studios purchase, probably for life.

Zen actually lost me in Pinball FX on the mechanical changes made. The Pro physics is a horrible mash-up between Zen physics and Williams Classic Arcade physics in Pinball FX3. The ball has this weird rubber ball quality, especially in the way it bounces. Flipper tricks feel ackward and artificial rather than it being an accurate physics simulation. They should have sticked with their original intention to add realistic physics to all tables in FX rather than this half-and-half implentation. The Zen originals are still boring and too long-playing with this new Pro physics and the Williams tables are too easy and unrealistic playing. Unfortunately, Zen has made it clear that they are sticking with this, so I've moved on.

There's been a lot of unnecessary hate towards FX and Zen. Personally I'm loving it and the future looks very promising. Zen has tried to make it as accessible as possible to everyone across all platforms. I play on Series X, cabinet and Quest 2, the new releases are welcomed and I know they will nail the cabinet mode. I tend to go all in, I don't feel I should get tables for FREE just because I bought them on a previous version or Steam, when you look at the replay value, the tables individually aren't overpriced, the 'ticket' system was away of addressing this but sadly the moaners forced Zen to reverse this. I have to say the Quest 2 FX tables is the best experience, the level of detail and immersion is mind blowing!! Hopefully they will revisit this platform in the future

Sorry, no way I'm paying AGAIN for licensed tables I've already paid for. It is insulting to have me spend hundreds of dollars over the years on tables, and then you want me to pay again because you basically improved what you didnt do correctly that I already paid for??? No flipping way. It's moves like this that make the community turn to other means of getting the tables they want to play.

    • @pinballwiz45b
      @pinballwiz45b ปีที่แล้ว

Here's the thing: They were done correctly. There is no wrong way of doing things, but when you make improvements on a physics model built for Williams and retroactively apply them on releases prior, you're going to run into problems. Those tables weren't built with Williams physics in mind. We're talking tables dating as far back as 2009/2010.
FX2/FX3 originals play very differently in the new FX.

You don't get to claim "Oh its improved", all that says to me is "Oh we ripped you off before...and we will again in a few years" If they offered upgrades at a HEAVILY discounted price vs new purchases, that's another discussion. I prefer Pinball FX3 if I want to play the old tables. Almost all, if not all, Pinball FX tables are at the very least soulless, with several of them being ugly.
Look at the World War table; Horrible table that reminds me of the original Future Pinball tables made by an amateur.

There's no reason that a purchase of a six year old product (FX3) entitles you to a completely repogrammed (in a completely new engnie) free FX tables. It costs them Zen dev time and money to create a whole new platform with completely reprogrammed tables. They deserve to get paid for that.
You still own and can play all your owned FX3 tables, so whining "They're forcing me to buy the same tables I own!" is nonsense. If those tables are "the same", then why would you expect/be entitled to a newer, separate product?

Same corny 70’s bar aesthetic. Can’t filter tournaments by physics type. No Fish Tales. No “Pinball Royale”. I’m so incredibly disappointed but too addicted to not buy new releases. I won’t re-purchase tables I already own FX3, at least until FX has made considerable improvements. It’s just baffling. They put so much effort into to the unlocks you get for each table, but you can’t properly look at them outside of editing where they are placed in the show room. You’re in this cool, customized room that you’ve designed, but you load a table and you’re back in FX3 Disco Land. I don’t understand it. It’s frustrating as hell and I don’t feel like they actually care or listen to anyone.

Weekly events, including a free table you can play that rotates out.
