What probably held you back was your injectors. If you have stock injectors they are the limiting power factor. I made 302hp & 330lb-ft to the wheels on 33s with a 5k rpm pull maxing out my injectors. (Peak power was not reached)
Whats more sleeper than mud tires? People get flustered when i bark the tires off in 1st, 2nd and damm near 3rd cuz truck looks like a contractor truck

Sounds absolutely amazing! I’d love to do that to my ‘97 5.7l. If I had to pick which truck got boosted first, I think I’d go with the 5.0. I think that would make the biggest difference in performance once installed between the two trucks.
@@erickfirebird67 He is referring to LT4 "hot cam" from the mid-90's LT4 engines (2nd generation SBC). LS engines are still small-block chevys (3rd and 4th generation). The LT4 you're thinking of is 5th and 6th generation SBC. The LT4 "hot cam" is a common upgrade to 1st or 2nd gen SBC cams given a the rest of the valvetrain is in shape to handle it.

I get the cost is high for something like this, that's why it's always best to try and replace as much yourself as possible. Doing a cam isn't so bad, especially if you pull the heads off (which should have been replaced tbh). I only hope that having Chomper Chomp'n all over town is worth the cost, sure puts a smile on my face as I'm sure it does yours. Keep the vids coming bud, love the content.

I have an 06 cammed out, full length headers, 4.56 gears front and rear, and a 4 inch exhaust. I went thru 3 4l60e transmissions before I did a 4l80e conversion.

That install price is insane... I do my own work because of this amd also do my own tuning. 4500 dollars for a cam and a tune is the going rate I guess. To do all that work would take a man a day in the garage. Also add a trans cooler next to save the trans. I've ran 500 hp through 4l60's many times and everyone bashes them but if you keep them cool they live.

Good pick on parts and its worth it. Make sure you keep oil changes and maintain no water leaks at all. Keep oil cooler if can be done. It will help maintain performance. ❤😂🎉😅
I live in jasper alabama and i really like you're videos and i think this video has made me decide to cam my 01 5.3, im having to pull my motor anyway so might as well 🤷♂️. I kinda hydro locked my motor because i didn't have my rubber finder flares in and hade a cold air intake on and was going through some 1f deep water at about 15 mph and the water off the tire got into the intake lol... I'm pretty sure it broke a ring because it ran super ruff when we got the water out and the valves, pistons, pushrods and everything looked good. I'm pulling the motor out tomorrow. I've spent the last 2½ days after school getting it ready to be pulled out. It a little bet of a learning process lol. And some of the stuff is really hard to get to, to disconnect between the motor and firewall. I can't wait until i have to do it in reverse 😂.
That’s a pretty expensive cam swap. But looks like they did a good job and at the end of the day if you are happy with it, that’s all that matters. You are probably very capable of doing a cam swap on an LS. It’s fairly simple. Cam sounds good, just found your channel and I grew up very close to your Area and live in north AL now and there is a lack of speed shops here for sure.
I agree, you can do the cam swap next time! All I could think watching this was a junkyard 6.0 and a sloppy stage 2 Chinese knock off cam and re use the lifters, leave the intake and valve springs alone, and send it. Great job though, the truck sounds and runs great and you get peace of mind knowing it’s done right!
I hope your transmission holds up for you. My 02 avalanche has almost the exact setup cam and all and the trans that had no problems and relatively low miles before the cam only lasted about 3 thousand miles after the cam so now its built with a 3000-3200 circle d stall and its great. And yes it gets louder as did mine after the cam!
Believe this has a 4l80e since it's a crew cab so it should be fine. I may be wrong though Edit- didn't realize it's an 06 and he did a front end swap. It might have a 4l60e then, but kind of doubt it. The 35s would probably kill the 4l60e

Since you are in Alabama, I'll have to show you my intake setup. 4" with card style maf to 90mm throttle. It's loud but the throttle response is crazy. I'll be throwing in a cam shortly to go with all my other bolt-ons.
Love the cam man, you should get some wheel liners foe the rear of your truck! Rough country sells them, they're under 100 bucks and makes the truck look way better. Have em on my 06 cateye

A while back I saw a guy on his TH-cam channel drop tons of money on different exhaust systems until he finally got the baddest sounding one and it did sound sick for a Chevy truck and if I remember right it seemed like he went with some kind of NASCAR mufflers or something.
i feel you man, i installed a fast intake 92mm and a Holley 92mm throttle body on my 98 LS1 WS6 trans am and it costed around 1600$ in parts. (free labor i do my own work) then I go to a performance tuning shop and they tuned my car i spent 500$ for their dyno tune service they slap a quick tune on my car and made it run ok but it had idle issues and what not, they tell me oh its a vacuum leak, i checked every where spent 2 weeks chasing the problem down and i spent about a month trying to get a hold of the tuning place to re schedule for an adjustment they ignore me and don't respond, so i had to go to another local tuner and he had the car street tuned he is very busy so it took around 2 weeks for him to tune and diagnose my issue with my car very odd issue and had to pay another time to make it right wasn't cheap but I'm happy for now.

The trail boss stock’s actually look very good on Chomper. Maybe put some street tires on them or some small AT’s for a sleeper setup

LT4 hot cam and LS6 valve springs will wake that vortec up. Mine picked up a lot with that setup

An engine is just an air pump and changing the cam will allow the engine to to move more air so yes it would make it louder
