Thanks for the build! This looks really good. Very informative; I love seeing options and why everything was chosen, not just "do it my way", like certain other build people do. (No names. Wouldn't want to mention names. ;) ) Documentation on the pet/companion controls are unbelievably pathetic, so it's great to see them explained like this. Note to current viewers: Don't buy white gear. The prices have dropped so much now, that you can get decent traits on anything green and some blue at guild traders, without much effort or cost. White gear was good advice when Companions first came out.

I'm pretty sure Companions don't get xp from dungeons; that they only get xp from killing things. So you'd get the massive xp boost (and 10 transmutes) with 20 hour cooldown, but Bastian would just get whatever he'd get from doing any dungeon you'd walk in to, with another person or two or three, from killing stuff in there. On the other hand - I have a couple of friends who love to run randoms with just the two of them, and no random strangers. So they queue with their alt accounts on separate computers, then the alts drop out or are kicked out to make room for companions. I've heard some people actually do kick people out to make room for their companions, but that's pretty rude.
Don't forget that rune does an extra 20% damage reduction on top of the original if undead or deadra (which most things are) so a total of 40%, defo a must have Just wished they could use the new pet command system to make them stand on a pressure plate or activate a lever, like imperial city gates, or direfrost keep pressure plates, would be awesome.
I really hope they add more companions or have customizable ones. I want to run a companion and Bastion is the obvious choice for my build but his personality doesn’t really mesh with my play style. Just a little disappointing.
I solo, pve with a necro. And for my playstyle I have set both companions up as tanks. Bastion is a damn good tank, as DKs usually are. Used him in a few vet dungons. With Mirri, tried her as a healer and a dps. For some reason she keeps grapping agro...and dying. So I finally said "screw it. Make her a tank". And it seems to work, for now. Still needs work, but shes lvl11. Got some time. For me, I like using the companions as a pet. Let it take agro, then unload. Been having loads of fun with em.
Someone posted a clip yesterday on Reddit of their Bastian solo-ing a world boss. The player added in some basic bow attacks here and there, but spent at least half the video just standing there watching Bastian. edit: also, font is sort of an old fashioned word for like a crucible, so it makes sense.
@@tobarstep Okay, now look up the etymology for the word Crucible, and show me when that ever had anything to do with miraculous healing. You're right, words have different meanings, but Crucible was still the wrong word.

Was thinking of Mirri as a siphon tank (just like NB) with quicken traits, and this Bastian tank also looks cool! Even with the skill bar not fully unlocked, companion works as a promising tank in veteran dungeons. Except for the situation where they fail to hold block against one-shot AoE mechanisms. Now that you completed veteran arena with companion tank, would you try them as an off-tank in trials? I'm curious whether they would work in those situation.
Hi Deltia! I can't figure out anywhere how to bring the pet back to me off the current add, so I can get him out of aoe's. Right mouse didn't do it for me and I don't see the option in controls. Do you know where I can set this?
My silly self got confused. I for some reason thought I had to do daily dungeons. Maybe because the undaunted daily is in the same vicinity and It just didn’t register for me. I thought I was stuck having to group find to do the dungeons to even level a companion. I should pay closer attention. I tend to watch tutorials as I work. Thanks for directing me the correct way!
Sometimes you need a tank. It doesn't even have to be a great tank. (Sometime it has to be a really good tank, but you can avoid Trials, and stuff.) Clannfear works under most circumstances, and has a pretty good heal, but not everyone plays a Sorcerer.
8:05 You don't need to believe. You can know. You can actually prove that vigorous is better. Effective health is the metric you want to look at. Bolstered has massive balancing problems; vigorous is so grossly overpowered that there is literally no situation where it is actually a good idea to use bolstered, mathematically speaking. It's to the point where you don't even need to test whether bolstered stacks additively or multiplicatively; the outcome is always the same.
Her little heals is meaningless to most classes who have ring of the pale order, or classes who already have many self heals themselves like Warden or Templar. Tank comp > Baby heals comp
@@agtl3168 that's like saying pale order ring is useless. Fully leveled it's pretty much the same thing but you can take the ring off and do more damage. What benefit is bastion as a tank giving u? It's pretty hard to grind these companions and their skill lines just to level a comp that dies all the time. Mirri as heals stands way back away from the damage and barely dies with good gear.
So basically all that played this game years ago and made so much struggle of finding tanks and doing content with other fellow humans got fucked in the back nice

Holy water recepticle. A font is a basin for holding holy water, like a Baptismal font. A crucible is something for melting metal in.
I believe blood font comes from the oblivion game.

Can you bring a companion into an arena? They say no online but this is the second tutorial I've watched that says they did.
I wish you had noted the skill line when mentioning the ability. Sure, it is all there, but finding it is a challenge for the slower ones of us.

How do you call him back? Heavy attack to make him target a different enemy I know about but I dont know how you make him disengage with an enemy.

I'm glad they gave us companions. As a dps it's so hard to find people that want to run early game content. People just tend to run the new content.

Should be the Y key or whatever you pet command is in keybinds. Hold that key plus block key once.

Y and left mouse button will send pets (and companions) to attack. Y and right will put them on passive.

Yes, but you can also pick up a rapport bump when you enter the Mage's Guild by pausing to read a book on your way out. He's definitely a book nerd.

No. The companions take up a "slot" that another player would fit into.

How to do the companion command on console?
My tank bastion is just dying pretty quickly on world bosses, i bet it need to be levelled up before it can do anything interesting
