    Inspiring work. I imagine the completed model will look more realistic than the studio model ever did. Kudos.

    All these enlightenments are amazing. I have no word... I don't know anything about custom electronics, but I know that the final reveal of this kit will be one of the best I ever saw. Up to next step, impatient to receive the notification from TH-cam telling me that you add your next video! Thank you this time again for sharing your amazing work and experience with us all and patiently, clearly describing each step of it. 👍

    Wow wow wow...Chris, you have outdone yourself on this build and it isn’t done yet! Amazing and really an incredible effort. Seeing the masterclass skill set you exemplify through this build is inspiring for me...thank you for posting this “saga” up!

    This is just a prime example of what planning, patience and skill can accomplish. Love the intricate detail and care you put in to your craft. You have thought of pretty well everything. The only thing missing, and I don't know how it can possibly be done, is that the ball in the alarm alcove usually is doing a gyroscopic tilting (as would the astrogator spinner) thing. But that would be taking things too far. I am humbled by your resourcefulness. I am retired and just getting back in to modeling and learning Arduino as I go. I have a J2, but it is the smaller one. If I could do 1/4 of what you have demonstrated to be possible, I will be happy. But that is a while down the road yet. Hats off to you, sir.

    Chris I had a couple questions for you if you don’t mind.
    1 where did you pick up the dowel pins for the magnets for the hull?
    2 where did you get the msgnets from & size?
    I am getting ready to start my J2 build here shortly, and used a lot of your techniques on my Deag MF. I am getting the plug in play version that moebius came out with for the lighting of my J2.GREAT build vids as usual Bro! 👍🏻

      The pins were just pins I had laying around in my stash, I think book shelf pins. The magnets are from Ebay. There are a lot of options a far a size goes. Here's a link.

      Yea, I mention and list in Pt 11 that the pins are in fact furniture shelf pins, and the magnets I mention and list as 10x5x3mm

      @modelsbychris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nolefan05 unfortunately, I guess I didn't say in the video, but based on the photo I display in the Pt 11 video, it looks like it was either 11/32 or 3/8 inch that I removed.

    Hello Chris, You connected your LED's to a 9 volt bus. Are the LED's actually 12 volt LED's with current limiting resistor for 20mA running with 9 volts? I have found +5, +6, +12 and +24 volt prewired LEDs, but no 9 volt LED's. What were your LED's rated at?

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly have no idea, sorry. I am by no means an electronic person and just wing it and teach myself along the way. The LEDs are running with resistors that I put on them, yes. I don't know about LED ratings or how to even tell what they're rated at. I just typically use 390 Ohm resistors because they're more than what's needed for some color LEDs and enough for others. Then I don't have to worry about figuring out what I need. I also sometimes increase the resistor Ohms to dim the LEDs as needed. I feel to many model builds that the LEDs are just to bright and intense, so I will add up to 1k Ohm resistors in there to limit the brightness of the LEDs, making them more realistic to the eye.

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I learned everything pretty much from the tutorials and forums on Adafruits website. It pretty much covers everything. Some of the coding I learned from Arduino.cc. lessons there.

  • @vcholman
    @vcholman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Chris, Are you able to share your wiring diagram and the code for the Trinket? What was the source for the 3 wire 4mm LED strip lights you used?

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I unfortunately, do not have a wiring diagram. I just kind of wing it. I drew out a plan for wiring, but I don't do schematics and such, cause I don't know how to do them. As for my code, I would share, as I've done with my other builds, but I haven't been able to find it. I have recently built a new computer, and though I always save my codes in a special folder, it seems the J2 code was still on my C: drive, and that got wiped and tossed when I build my new computer. I did locate my code I had posted on the Arduino forum when asking for some help, but I don't know that it was complete, which is why I was asking for help at the time.
