This dish originated from Kelantan, Malaysia, and well loved by others as well. It is called 'Nasi Kerabu' (Rice + Salad mix). The rice is cooked with the flower to get the natural blue color, and the salads are usually taugeh (bean sprout), cabbage, kantan (a type of flower-vege), long beans, and some leafy greens. Then dressed with a stir fried grated coconut with fish meat. Sometimes also accompanied with sambal and batter-dipped fried fish. The art of eating this is by mixing all side dishes with the rice 😋
Sunghoon's way of eating Nasi Kerabu by mixing everything together (just like bibimbap) is the correct way of eating it ^^ It is a dish well enjoyed by people from Malaysian East Coast (and also many others too!). To make the 'kerabu" or the ingredients to mix with the rice, you have to use herbal leaves. However, such rare ingredients could be hard to find so thinly sliced cabbage, beans sprout, and sometimes carrot can also be used for the 'kerabu'. You can eat it with hard boiled salted egg, keropok (fish cracker), grilled beef, grilled chicken, or anything. The choices are endless with Nasi kerabu. Overall, it is a very healthy dish :)
