I was a student for a year at Mindanao State University (MSU) as a exchange scholar from my country in Malaysia way back 1968. I never thought of visiting Maria Cristina Falls! I don't know why? It was only in 2018 that I visited the place due to the persistent encouragement of my grandchildren. It was majestic indeed.

    Hello Jay, Sach and Story,
    thanks for visiting my hometown..
my family used to lived on a housing community near Maria Cristina Falls..
there was a time when you can stand on the plantform area of the power plant and you very near the falls and you can feel the mist and dew of the falls in your face, but now its prohibited..
you shouldve visited the spring pools in iligan called timoga and tried the lechon being sold at the area..
theres a falls called Tinago where you can take a dip as well, but itll be a journey cause you have to walk a long way down to reach the falls..
thanks again for visiting and promoting my hometown..
    more power to your channel..

Hi Jay, Sacha and Story. I am thrilled you were able to see these particular waterfalls. I was there on New Years Eve 2019 on our way back from Zamboanga del Sur to Davao. It was a long drive but I insisted we stop there. It was closed then but I was able to convince them to allow us to visit. It is amazing. My daughter Zoa had turned six and was also fascinated by the cave full of bats 😊. Thanks for sharing and have a safe trip back to Surigao. This was clearly worth the stop. Thanks JunJun.

Your statement about the power production of the Agus VI hydroelectric plant was complete rubbish. At maximum output it produces less than one fifth of the power required for the grid in Mindanao. It's maximum output is 200 Megawatts Mindanao's daily peak requirement is over 13000 Megawatts. It should be noted that hydro power stations like that run on multiple turbines and usually they are run at a maximum of 2/3 of capacity so that they have redundancy in case of equipment failure so in reality that power station would probably be supplying around 10% of the power for Mindanao not powering the whole island as you claim. Next time do some research before taking for granted things that tour guides tell you in Asia.

Had our field trip to all Agus plants way back college days including- seeing the turbines underground the manmade lake. Those were the days. 😄

The hydro electric power plants there were started under the Quirino Admin (1953)

Thanks for showing us a lot of what nice places of Mindanao look like. So glad you did enjoy touring these places. And, have a safe trip back to Siargao, which you've considered your home for now. Looking forward to your next journey. God bless you, Sacha and Story.❤️

Went to Maria Cristina falls last 2015, it was an amazing feeling seeing the falls that I once saw on our culture textbooks..

Thank you, 8mfh for taking us with you on your Mindanao trip. I've lived in the Metro all my life and I haven't really been to any of the places that you went to. That makes me appreciate watching your vlogs even more. Makes me realize how beautiful our country really is. I am also looking forward to the next chapter of your Siargao life - after Odette. Take care Sacha, J, Story, and Poppy 😊
