I think my favourite 4k release for 2023 is Picnic At Hanging Rock - the new transfer and restoration is STUNNING and I love the colour grade. For a movie that’s nearly 50 years old it really is impressive.
Just so you know, there were lots of films in the 20s, 30s, and 40s (and beyond) with female leads. Mae West, Bette Davis, Ida Lupino, Claudette Colbert and Joan Crawford were often put as first billing above the men. Don't listen to anything that Jennifer Lawrence says.

My Top 10 in no particular order are... Pray for the Devil, From Beyond, Dawn of the Dead, Double Jeopardy, Puss and Boots: Last Wish, Kubo and Two Strings, Rocky 1, All Quiet Along The Western Front, Mask of Zorro, The Lighthouse... Not gonna lie, I enjoyed Black Adam too. I need to get Dragonslayer. Also,I bought The Frighteners from Turbine, and that's one of my favorite 4k's in my entire collection... It looks like that came out last Nov, but it's a must own 4k.
It's funny, I've seen several people these last couple days mention they just got the frighteners. I just bought it the other night as well. Excited to see if it's a good movie or not. Every person I've seen get the set has said what a good movie it was.

Five of those are last year. Six if you count virgin suicides. We got a criterion 4k in July in the states. Man do I love canal releases. Elephant man 4k might be in my top ten 4k ever. Admittedly it is one of my favorite movies period

I’d probably swap out one for Training Day (which did have a proper 4k case here in the UK), and the Arrow LE of The Last Emperor, Star Trek First Contact and Rocky 4

She got it at the awards show in 1946 beating out the hugely popular and leading lady Gene Tierney for "Leave Her to Heaven". Gene Tierney, Rita Hayworth, Betty Grable all leading ladies of the '30s and '40s Ken. In fact, for the '40s, these three were huge.
Great audio with decent Atmos home theater really makes movie much better 🙂 war movies usually have good audio. Unkown Solldier have really good.All the cannon feels like horse kick.

I like the Air Force one the best so far! Midnight run on 4K looks absolutely amazing for being a 1988 release. It was a definite upgrade over the Blu-ray and visuals and maybe even sound as well but definitely visuals. Very impressed with midnight run
Thumbs up for Dragonslayer and From Beyond. Beatiful releases. Only wished the documentary on Dragonslayer was more extensive, it felt a bit rushed editing wise. But it looks gorgeous, they didn't hit with the dreaded DNR hammer (well, maybe a bit at the end). I saw this classic for the first time on this release. I am a huge fantasy fan but somehow i never caught this movie. I don't think it ever played on TV in my country or i must have missed it.
I probably was. It definitely looked the best it ever has and I love the movie. Just hard choosing between all these amazing releases. But hey, it was still an Honorable Mention. 🤷♂️
Prey for the devil was too Generic for me Ken LOL it was pretty good in some scenes though I have it on DVD and you got the original TCM and Dawn of the Dead Remake on here nice I have the Original TCM on 4k to Happy Easter🆒🆒👍👍
Just watched Primal Rage on youtube for free. Quality of stream was really good but the movie was below b-quality. The corny college parts, the acting , and the dialog were really bad. Not sure how made your list Ken?

Please... when holding up a product to show, don't wave your arm/hand around. We can't see details if they a blurred by motion and only appear flat on the camera for milliseconds. This is especially true for us older folk.

Not a huge part. Also didn't have any new features. When the margins are so thin between audio/visual quality, something as small as the aesthetic can play a part.
Okay. I’m finally going to have to chime in on Bubba Ho-tep. I think you need to give it another chance with a different mindset. Bubba Ho-tep is perfect and it’s because as a viewer it’s like you are in a nursing home with them. They are old and can’t get along well, in bed a lot because well they are old and in a nursing home. Coscarelli didn’t do an all out impossible old people in a nursing home feet. He had them be like real old people in the nursing home. Old rock crazy person talk and old crazy or are they say who they are. The mummy is also old and needs to feed to restore. He is also old and feeble which is why he attacking nursing homeS that’s the joke of the film!! 😂 You feel like it’s slow and nothing is happening because well they are old and in a nursing home so they are slow and battling an ancient mummy who is also just has disabled as they are then as a viewer we are watching this like finer were in a nursing home. The Elvis dirty humor is he is a former old school rock star so of course! Bubba Ho-tep is genius because it takes you to the nursing home with the characters.
To add, when you watch it next time. You’ll be prepared for how level and non action heavy it is… but just picture your self as a resident in a nursing home as you watch it.

Count me in as a Primal Rage fan. Definitely glad I decided to pick it up. One of the highlights you did not point out is Bo Svenson's pony tail.
