I appreciate whoever recommended Joe to use ice cubes in the black tank. They used this platform to share it to so many other people. What a great idea!!! Thank you for all involved! Haha. Awesome, Awesome channel
I have been a truck driver for over 30 years and have been to that truck stop many of times . If I remember correctly that there is a sign when you enter the TV and movie rooms that say CDL holders only. A lot of truck stops have CDL only sections so keep an eye out for those . A lot of Truck drivers have a negative attitude towards RVers because they take advantage of things that are not meant for them. Drivers have time schedules and hours of service and rest limits. If spaces meant for them and one or more RVers are in those spots they could end up late for appointment and/or a citation for hour of service rules. This also includes Lounge areas and full service restaurants. Iowa 80 doesn't restrict laundry facilities to Professional drivers but a lot of other places do even tho they aren't always enforced . Nationally there are not enough truck stop or truck parking areas for the number of trucks on the road. This applies more so on the east coast and near big cities. The term "Truck Stop" implies the primary purpose for the facility is to serve Trucks and the professional driver. I am Semi retired (no Pun intended) I am hoping some day to get an RV and see place I couldn't see from a truck. Till then I have to settle for RV channels.
We so appreciate the work you've done as a truck driver! People don't appreciate what ya'll do nearly enough in my opinion. The staff at Iowa 80 couldn't have been more welcoming to us. They encouraged us to walk around and explore. (As people filming we actually had to get permission to film there in the first place.) I say that to say I don't believe we went anywhere that we weren't allowed and I was never given any side-eye by any truckers. As to parking, I thought we clearly showed that we parked in an RV section so I'm sorry if that didn't come through. I missed my initial turn and ended up driving through a portion of the Professional driver section but was able to make my way to the RV sites. As a general rule, truck stops aren't our go-to for overnights. If we're on a long haul we prefer a Walmart parking lot (or some such) but yeah, I can't think of a time we've spent the night in a space meant for Semis. -J
@@OpenRoading I know you didn't park in the truck spaces. I have been there so many times and I know what parts of the lots are for Trucks ,RVs and cars. I did see that part where you accidentally went into the truck parking and stated so. Iowa 80 is just as accommodating to RVers as to trucks. My comment was more towards other RVers who watch. Not just about Iowa 80 but all truck stops. It would have been nice if you stated that you got the Ok to go into several parts of the TS for filming. Some truck stops like Pilot and flying J have started to install RV hook ups just in case you didn't know that. The people that own Iowa 80 also own 2 other truck stops with similar services but smaller . One in Joplin Mo and the other on I 95 in NC.
Our permission was to film - not to go where we weren't allowed. You have to get permission to film commercially on site. We made no special requests other than to bring in the camera. -J
Careful!! It’s a slippery slope! Next thing you know you’ll be putting spikey lug covers on your rig and thinking you can visit a national park by flying over it!! 😂 -J
We used ice every summer on the way home from our 3 month summer place. We also used Calgon & dawn once a week while stationary. Our sensors always worked.
You two are becoming my favorite travelers! You are fun sometimes a bit wacky. Keep it up! One question, do you think the ice had anything to do with the water leak?
Thanks! I can't see how the ice would have done anything with the water leak as the ice was in the non pressurized plumbing (the black tank) and the leak was in the pressurized water inlet (a clamp failed). Now if my black tank springs a leak...we've got a whole other set of issues.... lol -J
I've been using the ice trick for a while, I know it's hard to find but anytime you stop by and you can find the chunk ice not the little cubes like you poured in it will last longer in the tank and do a little better job.
The cookies were delicious! And thanks so much! That means a lot to us. We always want our sponsored segments to feel like part of the video so that even someone who's not interested in the product would stick around and watch. -J
We use a 1/2 cup of dawn soap with 5 gallons of water on travel days between sites to keep it clean and the sensors working, once a month. I haven't tried the ice cube method.
I'm gonna have to give this a shot! I think ours are extra gunked up because we rarely are going from hookup to hookup but rather boondocking to boondocking with a dump on the way. So we don't often get the chance to do the "in travel" cleaning. -J
OMG!! I knew we saw you there. We would’ve went up and said hi but we were on a severe time crunch. This was totes so cool!!! I can’t believe you even have one of the hosts from Vice of Miami Podcast in your shots too! I saw him there as well. Great content as always. 🎉
Great content once again, guys! I have to agree with Joseph on the disappointing popcorn ball. You can't even see it! They need a better display imho. The truck stop was epic, I would have a hard time passing on some of those chachki's!
The Iowa 80 Truck Stop is so cool! I hope to see it one day. On the black tank clean out I heard you are also supposed to put in a half cup of Dawn dish washing cleaner too. The blue one.
Thanks for riding along! I was telling Kalyn the other day that she and I still have yet to finish the movie we started watching with you and the gang in sedona. 😂 -J
You guys are so refreshing to watch and you take us along to see places we may not get to visit and I appreciate that 😊, my hubby & I have a motorhome that we get to travel in a few times a year since he is still working his marine business .... we love to travel and look forward to traveling more God willing in the future. Safe travels and have a blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas too. Look forward to next video
I just found your channel and being from Iowa and living in southwest Iowa, I really enjoyed your video. For awhile in the early 2000's, I also lived full time, but in an RV park in TX, in a large Jayco Designer. It would have been a 2000 model year. 37 1/2' with 3 slides. I have never been to any of the attractions you showed. I loved the recipe. The popcorn ball I could do without and I have very seldom been in southeast Iowa, so I have never been to the truck stop. I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos and I did subscribe to your channel. Thank you!
What an awesome video. I have so enjoyed all of your content (and yes I binge watched all once I discovered your channel!) I have taken notes on where we want to visit thanks to you. Thanks for your fun and truthful content. We hope to meet y'all somewhere along our travels.
Aw! Thank you! We love hearing when people not only subscribe but go back and watch to catch up (although I always recommend not going any further back than "We're broke" 👀 Those first two attempts at youtube were...something else.) We're much more real time on Instagram (Free) so if you ever see us in our stories somewhere nearby - give us a shout. We also release a members video here on youtube (Not free) that is more real time as well. If you see us release a Friday video nearby....chances are very very high that we're long gone. 😂 -J
Fantastic, fun video! They were really reaching on that popcorn “ball.” That truck stop was interesting. The cost of the shower was surprising, but then again I’ve never priced one. Loved Maxine’s gravestone! Took a screen shot of the recipe. How long did you guys end up baking the cookies? 10-12 minutes?
I loved the . . "Over My Dead Body" reference !!! ( I had a good laugh ) For future reference, put the NO STAIRS sign OVER the latch to open the door - that way you can't go out until you pull the paper back.
So agree with joe!! That's a bowl of popcorn. 😂 But, those lug nuts are really little christmas trees. This one was fascinating, Trinity looked like she loved the bath. Can't wait for the next one. 😊 Doing great 👍
Y’all are AWESOME!! Another fabulous ride along! 😊 I like all the whacky attractions. 😁🤩 I just watched a tour of a 29 or 30 foot Brinkley and thought of you two! I don’t know how big your rig is, but I think the Brinkley made me think of you since it looks residential (and more in line with your rig) instead of RV like (aka: ugly), and it had a desk. I am glad the RV park and truck stop were good stays. I’ve never heard of the ice cube black tank cleaner. I will remember that one! See you all soon!
I hope Christmas brings you a new affordable RV or the new year brings you less accidents in the RV. Our house goes up on sale Jan so as soon as it sales we’re getting an RV.
Bill moon was a truckdriver that broke down there and was stranded for 3 days. With no service in the area at the time he started the Iowa 80 truckstop
We had the pleasure of chatting with someone who has worked there for their entire working career. It sounds like not only do the run a great operation but they treat their employees well. -J
You guys missed the Rt80 truck museum at the truck stop, free to get in approximately 300 trucks on display, some one of kind .I had great experience there, ate at Grandma's Kitchen, food sucked prices high!!! Thanks 😊😊😊😊
ha ha, a cemetery. i thought we have been to most but we missed that one. its on the list for next trip. glad you two are having fun checking out whacky things.
I know that things are pricey these days but $17 to take a shower sounds like a lot and I wonder who eventually got the towel that Kalyn put her grubby paws on😂 Yall have fun and be safe🤗
I'm a truck driver and I've gotten to go to this truck stop quite a few times now. At least four or five. I love the museum . It was really good. I love this truck stop
Welcome to our great State of Iowa. Put on ur list to visit the Loess Hills, Mississippi River Road and Lake Okoboji. That truck stop is huge yes. Stop there occasionally passing through. Oh yeah Amana Colonies!!
So…people get on our case for mispronouncing things…do you just want us to get killed in the comments?? 😂 I don’t know where to begin with those names! LOL -J
I’m in agreement with you both, time for a new or newer Rv. There are some really good deals out there, we bought a 2023 Alliance 382RK for half of the selling price. Found it on the Alliance for sale site it’s great.
I was born in SE Iowa and lived there until 1989. It wasn't till the 2000's that I finally visited the I 80 Truck Stop. All my trips before had been heading West. Good choice staying off of 80 on your way there, hopefully you did the same leaving. There is way too much traffic on Interstate roads these days and especially I 80 East of Des Moines. Lots more places to see in Iowa other than the Wacky kind.
Just a hint... I think you will enjoy our next video series (starting in about a month after this one wraps up and we have 2 other non-series related videos). -J
i believe the largest twine ball is in Cawker City Kansas, not Minnesota. Have never been there, but this is from watching other RV vloggers. Just saying.
I have been to the Worlds Largest Truck Stop, several times…. But the real treat is across the toad… “Grandma’s Kitchen”… and get the best Apple Dumplings!
Joseph, if you’re serious looking for an rv I know a lot of people hate camping world, but check out camping world Fargo, North Dakota and talk to Lynn. They are really good people in that place. I just bought a newer one just before I crashed my truck and they’re good enough to hold it all winter long for me in storage, good people.
That's super kind of them! Yeah, I hear a lot about camping world but honestly I think for the most part it's always a case by case - there are good ones and bad ones. So I really appreciate this recommendation. We're still a ways out from being able to justify adding a payment to our budget but we're certainly dipping our toes in the market. The toughest thing is we have a new RV that we LOVE....just out of budget for now. So a lot of weighing our options over the next several months. -J
Thanks for the ice test I put 10ths in my black tank in august, That 10ths probably didn’t last long in the Georgia heat In august I’m going to try 20lbs on my way back to Florida in two weeks and do the same color test Keep up the good work Peter
Wow I couldn't believe that you found my comment from 7 months ago about the ice and the black tanks lol looks like it did a real good job! I stayed at that same RV in Monticello. My experience was different it was in October and they were closed for the year but they let me stay there for a week and my door open right to the little creek or river or whatever. The only thing is over the weekend a big rig pulled in and the place filled up with cars and people were outside watching a Iowa game.. yelling and screaming... Was really loud.. of course with drinking... But then after that it wasn't too bad, like I said it was closed and I was the only one there. The downtown was really cute and it had a cute little grocery store so I thought it was a nice little town.. but that's at least 6or7 years ago. Trinity look like she had fun in the wash! Lol For anyone who may need the gospel: 1st Corinthians 15: 1-4, Romans 10:9,10 John 3: 15-17. God bless you and yours and all my brothers and sisters out there and across the world! 😇 Even so, come Lord Jesus!! ✝️🙏✝️
Hello. that truck stop is amazing!! Been a few years since I have been there, but... amazing!!! As for the issues with the RV.. they come in 3's at least that is what I have been told. haha. I do feel the issues come in groups, then it will chill out a bit.. or so I try to believe. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels.
Try the App Atlas Abscura. It’s pretty good at finding things in each area that are interesting. I agree with Joseph on the popcorn ball. Another good one.
That was strange, when you opened the oven with the cookies I could smell fresh Christmas cookie! You must have invented smell a vision, just glad it was for the cookies and not the black tank cleanse
Right angle (90 degrees elbow) on your city water fill will help in more ways then one. (Their $4.73 at walmart) Surprised you don't have one. Also it appears theirs day light coming through sides of the fill might want to spend $5 and seal that up. Also FYI: People at parks enjoy watching new people come in some even place money on if your going to hit something. Attention is given to new things. (namely someone backing in)
The leak was because the clamp on the inside had failed - so I’m not positive a 90 on the outside would have helped any. Maybe though! And to anyone betting on someone backing in - may I suggest you watch them discretely as opposed to outright staring. 😀 -J
I was impressed. Either my tank is extra filthy or it just works well. I usually just fill the tank an extra time when I'm at full hookups and flush it out (sometimes twice). -J
Joesph, I have an elbow that attaches at the black tank outlet that is called a “blaster”. You hook a hose to it and you can blast that, umm, “stuff,” out of the black tank. It’s amazing what comes out. It got my sensors working again. With your clogged washout inlet maybe this is something you want to look into. If you get one be sure it has a closer lever at the hose attachment too. Another fun video. I love this wacky attraction series. Can’t wait for more.
Right across the river in Illinois is a campground called Fisherman's Corner. One of our favorite campgrounds! Right off I-80 first IL exit. It's a COE.
I have been to the Iowa 80 truck stop. It was fun. We have family in Iowa driving by a lot finally stopped this summer. Iowa is a great state to explore.
its not the RV dealer that is the problem; its the shoddy workmanship right from the builders assembly line that is the problem that makes me never want a new RV.
@@larryfreeman7979 For sure - but I will say if you work with an honest salesman... (😬) and do your research I'm confident there are newer rigs out there that are made to last. But they are the few and far between... AND you'll probably pay for it. -J
Just 1 20lb bag and our tank is 40 gallons. I will say - our tank is probably extra gross due to the fact that we haven’t done much other than water flushes every month or so due to the fact that we are rarely at full hookups. -J
I was talking to an employee of the truckstop recently (since I only live about an hour away). I thought they told me the museum was not open five or seven days a week. Also, did they tell me that they no longer buy vehicles for the museum, but only except donations of vehicles? Also, is it true that Mr.Moon founded “black cat scales” or whatever its called on the yellow and black signs across the country for professionals to have their semi’s weighed?
Dido what alcoa1489 said I believe I’ve shared this exact sentiment.. haha 😂 makes sense Joe, that recipe will live on for ever 👍 cool you guys thanks for having me along.. I have a 5 year old red healer male named Oliver, Olly 🐕 and a one year old blue healer boarder collie mix female named Angel. They constantly roll in gross stuff, I think it’s like a smell good thing for dogs 😂. Love it you guys 👍👍🇺🇸❤️
@@OpenRoading I know so I get his nails trimmed, then bath him with some smell good shampoo and with in 2 days he rolls in something. So I get the hypoallergenic non sent and Olly lasts longer. He got Angel my female pregnant and she is do anytime. Finally got coworkers wife to hook up a gmail so we can say hi and share more..
If we don’t feel safe / comfortable at a park (even if we have paid)….. are more than happy to blow our $$ and move elsewhere just for the peace of mind!! 😃👍
Is this heaven? It's Iowa. Loving the wacky attractions! Dogs just seem to love rubbing their faces in poop 💩. I'll bet that elevated wash station was a real back saver! 😊 🐕
Haha - Our videos are always behind real time anywhere from a week to as far as 6 weeks this summer. Depends on how many videos we shoot in a particular week. Usually we're shooting one a week but when we were in Alaska we were shooting 1.5 to 2 per week and we only release 1 per week. -J
The closed barbershop got me thinking - maybe I missed this, but how do y'all manage your hair? Random barbers and salons across the US? How about a "if we get x likes on the video, we'll put spikes on" challenge? 😂
LOL! Somehow I think Kalyn wouldn't even put the spikes on for 100K subscribers. 😂 Hair is two completely different ways. I walk into any random hole in the wall barbershop or...if too busy to look any random sports clips and get my hair cut. "Number 2 on the sides as short as your fingers can get it on top, a little longer in the front." Kalyn does a couple of hours of research looking at reviews for specific hair stylists before carefully selecting one to do her cut. So far... her way of doing it has led to far fewer bad haircuts than my style of doing it. 😂 Oh - sometimes Kalyn cuts my hair as well. -J
By the time you occupy any "new" rv, it's already a used rv. You can't escape the constant maintenance on any rv you use constantly. Leaks will always surprise you. Learning where issues arise is an asset that you'll have to learn all over again
For sure. New rv, new rv problems. But age also brings its own problems - sometimes bigger ones. We are approaching the stage where this rig will need a top down overhaul, or we have to consider a new rig. -J
Would love to see you stop in Batavia NY to see the largest sprayer/water fountain and right across the street is large armor guy!! Love your videos!!!
That could be a boring video. 😂 Picking music is actually one of the surprisingly time consuming part of the editing process since each video uses between 20-30 clips of music that last anywhere from 20 seconds to 2 minutes depending on the segment. (Not every channel does it this way, but it's a style we've incorperated) We have a subscription to artlist: artlist.io/referral/9063004/Joseph A subscription like that is honestly the only way to do youtube with music as they have soooo many music options for you and you get the license to use them on your channel. As to how I pick, it's all based on the mood of the video. Tense? Dramatic? Funny? what's going on for that short period of time. For the Jazzy Greensleeves - we're making Christmas cookies so it just felt right. And then when we went to taste them it was more of a "Hallmark Christmas movie" tune which was a more subtle holiday feel to help transition out to the next segment. 😁 -J
@OpenRoading Well, I think you have a good recipe. (See what I did there?) This is the first time that I can recall recognizing a tune, and I have watched every video. I would also not want to distract from the content with background music. In this case, it just made me laugh. So, it serves the same purpose as J's attempt at humor. ;-) Speaking of which, I do believe the family was making the 'over my dead body' a reality. I love it! I told that story at a gathering yesterday.
@@tennesseeturner Awesome. I appreciate that feedback! And yeah, 99% of our songs you won't recognize because once you enter the recognizable (modern) song market you start having to pay biiiig licensing fees. Everything on artlist is super generic OR renditions of songs that have passed into the realm of "fair use" or whatever the term is for once something is old enough to just be used however you want. Whenever I hear a popular song on a big channel I'm like "oh hey... they're making some bank" 😂-J

Another great video, but WOAH, $17.00 for a shower? That was crazy to me. Thanks for taking me along with you. Hope all is still good. ***EDIT*** The ice thing I never heard of, but will try it now that I know about it. Thanks for sharing that too.
@@OpenRoading WOW! I hope you had plenty of extra shampoo and soap to "steal". ;-) Maybe a free towel or 2 at that price? No, I don't think that look would lessen the water issues. You've had your quota of water leaks. No more for at least a year. Trinity also enjoyed her bath. Good job.

I appreciate whoever recommended Joe to use ice cubes in the black tank. They used this platform to share it to so many other people. What a great idea!!! Thank you for all involved! Haha. Awesome, Awesome channel
And you only had to endure a few seconds of really crappy video. (See what I did there... 😂) -J
(As people filming we actually had to get permission to film there in the first place.)
I say that to say I don't believe we went anywhere that we weren't allowed and I was never given any side-eye by any truckers.
This is good stuff. Thanks for taking me along. I'm not a backseat driver and I don't eat much.
We've got some popcorn..... 😂 -J
I agree Joseph (for once LOL!). The popcorn ball looks like a bowl of popcorn. It should stand on it's own!
Careful!! It’s a slippery slope! Next thing you know you’ll be putting spikey lug covers on your rig and thinking you can visit a national park by flying over it!! 😂 -J
@@OpenRoading awww, you remember me!!!! Seriously love you both, but watch yourself 😀
Iowa, the place of that great movie lines, "Is this Heaven" "No, it's Iowa". The baseball field is still a big tourist attraction in Dyersville
If you make a giant popcorn ball....they will come. I think that was the line. -J
We used ice every summer on the way home from our 3 month summer place. We also used Calgon & dawn once a week while stationary. Our sensors always worked.
That's awesome! I've been convinced that the ice thing is effective. -J
Cool! I don’t see us using it too often since usually we are headed to dry camping. -J
Those cookies look so good! (And you did such a great job with the Surfshark promo. You really made it interesting.)
The cookies were delicious! And thanks so much! That means a lot to us. We always want our sponsored segments to feel like part of the video so that even someone who's not interested in the product would stick around and watch. -J
@@OpenRoadingdid y’all actually use oleo or did you sub something else? Is Crisco a type of oleo?
I know exactly how those time crunches are!! Here’s a friendly wave hello a few weeks late. 👋 -J
The lug nut covers were perfect. Joe was right on that one.
Yessss!!!! Would dress her up nicely! 😄 -J
Can’t wait to try the cookie recipe. Thanks for sharing. 😊
They are delicious! -J
Great content once again, guys! I have to agree with Joseph on the disappointing popcorn ball. You can't even see it! They need a better display imho. The truck stop was epic, I would have a hard time passing on some of those chachki's!
In the popcorn balls defense it’s almost 10 years old and has settled a little…but it’s still in a bowl so it’s a poor defense. 😂 -J
@ haha it needs a refresh!
The Iowa 80 Truck Stop is so cool! I hope to see it one day. On the black tank clean out I heard you are also supposed to put in a half cup of Dawn dish washing cleaner too. The blue one.
I'll toss that in there next time! -J
You two are so funny... Safe Travels and thanks for sharing all these oddities with us.
Thanks so much for that encouragement! We appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Here's to your next adventure whenever that may be! -J
So glad that water leak didn't seem to be a major snafu. Awesome video!
Yeah - just a lot of drying out in the basement and yet another annoyance. More on it in the next video! -J
Hi
Another great video
loving the wacky attractions
love the banter you both have with each other
Aussie fan 💜
It’s still crazy to me that we have internet friends in Australia! -J
Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! We really enjoyed your state as we rolled on through! -J
Loved this video! You guys are so entertaining!!! Safe travels!
Awesome! Thanks for stopping by and letting us know! -J
What an awesome video. I have so enjoyed all of your content (and yes I binge watched all once I discovered your channel!) I have taken notes on where we want to visit thanks to you. Thanks for your fun and truthful content. We hope to meet y'all somewhere along our travels.
Aw! Thank you! We love hearing when people not only subscribe but go back and watch to catch up (although I always recommend not going any further back than "We're broke" 👀 Those first two attempts at youtube were...something else.)
We're much more real time on Instagram (Free) so if you ever see us in our stories somewhere nearby - give us a shout.
We also release a members video here on youtube (Not free) that is more real time as well.
If you see us release a Friday video nearby....chances are very very high that we're long gone. 😂 -J
Fantastic, fun video!
They were really reaching on that popcorn “ball.”
That truck stop was interesting. The cost of the shower was surprising, but then again I’ve never priced one.
Loved Maxine’s gravestone! Took a screen shot of the recipe. How long did you guys end up baking the cookies? 10-12 minutes?
I don’t remember how long…but that sounds about right. We kept our eyes on it! -J
I loved the . . "Over My Dead Body" reference !!! ( I had a good laugh ) For future reference, put the NO STAIRS sign OVER the latch to open the door - that way you can't go out until you pull the paper back.
Glad you got a smile! I have a hunch Maxine had a sense of humor and would have enjoyed the reference as well. -J
So agree with joe!! That's a bowl of popcorn. 😂 But, those lug nuts are really little christmas trees. This one was fascinating, Trinity looked like she loved the bath. Can't wait for the next one. 😊 Doing great 👍
P.S. I'm going to try that recipe for sure.😉
Trin doesn't hate baths... but it takes her a second to remember that. 😂 -J
There’s a Brinkley model that we love…but out of our price range for now. But we’ll see what the future holds. One step at a time! -J
@@OpenRoading - I am praying you are blessed with the perfect rig at the perfect price at the perfect time!

Oh man... that would be an awesome Christmas present. 😁. We're currently in the market for a truck - then the RV later. -J
Hope you visited the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum while you were there.
Not only did we visit it - we showed some of it in the video! 😁 -J

Thanks 😊😊😊😊
We actually showed that we went to the truck museum in the video! -K
Nice to see you in my neck of the woods! I live 5 miles from the I-80 truck stop. It’s like an oasis in the desert!

You guys weather turns on a dime up there!! -J
ha ha, a cemetery. i thought we have been to most but we missed that one. its on the list for next trip. glad you two are having fun checking out whacky things.
Ok... lIst of... cemeteries... or list of wacky attractions? Inquiring minds would like to know. -J
I know that things are pricey these days but $17 to take a shower sounds like a lot and I wonder who eventually got the towel that Kalyn put her grubby paws on😂 Yall have fun and be safe🤗
I will say the water was hot, the room was clean, and the towels were soft. That said - I am still glad we take our shower with us! -J

I’m in agreement with you both, time for a new or newer Rv. There are some really good deals out there, we bought a 2023 Alliance 382RK for half of the selling price. Found it on the Alliance for sale site it’s great.
Hope to get one down the road. The debate has been overhaul this one, or get a new one. -J
@@OpenRoading Joe, Y’all live in the Rv so you deserve an upgrade!
Minnesota's largest ball of twine is much more legit than Iowa's largest popcorn ball
I love how places lean into the whole "Largest" thing! -J
i believe the largest twine ball is in Cawker City Kansas, not Minnesota. Have never been there, but this is from watching other RV vloggers. Just saying.

Thanks for the ice test
I put 10ths in my black tank in august,
That 10ths probably didn’t last long in the Georgia heat In august
I’m going to try 20lbs on my way back to Florida in two weeks and do the same color test
Keep up the good work

Let me know how it works! We've had some people in the comments that reccomend tossing some dawn dish soap down with the ice. -J
I grew up less than 15miles from the popcorn ball... I'm with Joseph though on it.. :) It was a ball at one time.... Great videos.
Ok! Thats good to hear! All the photos on the the building show it in the bowl. 🧐 -J
Lol

That was strange, when you opened the oven with the cookies I could smell fresh Christmas cookie! You must have invented smell a vision, just glad it was for the cookies and not the black tank cleanse
😂 Oh man... if smell-a-vision is invented we're going to have to alter some of our content. We show dump stations farrrr too often for that. 😂 -J
Right angle (90 degrees elbow) on your city water fill will help in more ways then one. (Their $4.73 at walmart)
Surprised you don't have one.
I like truck stops for overnights when traveling. They usually feel very safe to me.
That's awesome. We generally have gone with walmarts for the quick overnights because.....shopping. 😂 -J
I’ve heard the ice tip before but I was skeptical that it would work well enough to be worth the bother. Thank you for testing that for all of us!
I was impressed. Either my tank is extra filthy or it just works well. I usually just fill the tank an extra time when I'm at full hookups and flush it out (sometimes twice). -J
@ I have a black tank flush inlet so I use that (same idea) but I’m gonna throw in the ice from time to time too now. 👍
I have a plugged flush inlet.... lol. -J
@ 😂 We can always count on your unique POV! One of the best things about the channel 🙌
The longest Interstate highway in the US is I90 with over 3000 miles, not I80.

I have been to the Iowa 80 truck stop. It was fun. We have family in Iowa driving by a lot finally stopped this summer. Iowa is a great state to explore.

@OpenRoading totally agree.
Love this series!
Cheyenne Camping Center would have done you right in Walcott for a new RV.
Haha! Would love to jump right into one but it’s going to take us some time to figure out exactly what’s the next move with regard to a new rig! -J
its not the RV dealer that is the problem; its the shoddy workmanship right from the builders assembly line that is the problem that makes me never want a new RV.
@@larryfreeman7979 understood. My rig is a 2018.
@@larryfreeman7979 For sure - but I will say if you work with an honest salesman... (😬) and do your research I'm confident there are newer rigs out there that are made to last. But they are the few and far between... AND you'll probably pay for it. -J
I'm amazed at how well the ice cleaned your black tank. How many bags of ice did you use and how many gallons is your tank?
Just 1 20lb bag and our tank is 40 gallons. I will say - our tank is probably extra gross due to the fact that we haven’t done much other than water flushes every month or so due to the fact that we are rarely at full hookups. -J

The closed barbershop got me thinking - maybe I missed this, but how do y'all manage your hair? Random barbers and salons across the US?
How about a "if we get x likes on the video, we'll put spikes on" challenge? 😂
LOL! Somehow I think Kalyn wouldn't even put the spikes on for 100K subscribers. 😂
Hair is two completely different ways. I walk into any random hole in the wall barbershop or...if too busy to look any random sports clips and get my hair cut. "Number 2 on the sides as short as your fingers can get it on top, a little longer in the front."
Kalyn does a couple of hours of research looking at reviews for specific hair stylists before carefully selecting one to do her cut. So far... her way of doing it has led to far fewer bad haircuts than my style of doing it. 😂
Oh - sometimes Kalyn cuts my hair as well.

Jazzy Greensleeves? Ok, I think we need a video on who chooses the background music and why! :-)
That could be a boring video. 😂 Picking music is actually one of the surprisingly time consuming part of the editing process since each video uses between 20-30 clips of music that last anywhere from 20 seconds to 2 minutes depending on the segment. (Not every channel does it this way, but it's a style we've incorperated)
We have a subscription to artlist: artlist.io/referral/9063004/Joseph
A subscription like that is honestly the only way to do youtube with music as they have soooo many music options for you and you get the license to use them on your channel.
Everything on artlist is super generic OR renditions of songs that have passed into the realm of "fair use" or whatever the term is for once something is old enough to just be used however you want.
Whenever I hear a popular song on a big channel I'm like "oh hey... they're making some bank" 😂-J
Happy Friday
YAY! Welcome Anthony!! I hope you are having a good week! -J
Hey you guys so awesome to see this episode. I’m going to have to watch it later on my way to friends to watch Mike Tyson fight at 50 something a young big mouth. Always love ya guys videos. Will probably say more later.. God be with ya 👍🇺🇸🙏🏻❤️
Have fun watching that totally real, not at all staged, fight. 😁 -J
@ Ouch now I feel like a kid watching wrestling WWE 😂
@@GaryRupp-fe6ly lol. I donno... I just had a hunch that this was more of an event than a fight. That said... I know less about boxing than I do almost anything else in life. I hear Netflix didn't win the fight though... -J
@@OpenRoading hey my friends. Just got home and eating some dinner. You were right though it was about money Mike needed. Not the Tyson from 30 years ago. I was gonna yell at ya about best spots to visit then Kalyn saved you with Utah. I live in the Great Basin area and when you’re in Utah hit me up for a tour. And the best RV spots for free.
@@OpenRoading I’m going to watch the Giant Truckers spot tonight. They have me doing some stuff around the Dairy lately so I’ve been working still. But you guys are in my top three TH-cam Chanel’s.. I’ll catch up tonight. 👍❤️
That was fun…..
Glad you enjoyed it! -J
No Joe on the lug nuts! You gotta lose that one. I'm with you that the biggest popcorn ball was a bust. Freestanding or it ain't real. We spent some time in Iowa a few years ago and I was surprised at how much I liked the state. I've not been to any of the places in this video so you gave me good reasons to go back. Another great video, but WOAH, $17.00 for a shower? That was crazy to me. Thanks for taking me along with you. Hope all is still good.
***EDIT*** The ice thing I never heard of, but will try it now that I know about it. Thanks for sharing that too.
Yeah - that was a pricey shower 😂.
You really don't think the spikey chariot wheel look won't work on the rig?! LOL -J
Good job.
haha! If I remember right I took my own shampoo... I'm bad at this. LOL -J
