Bud, don’t worry about not loving the band immediately because it is extremely heavy and what didn’t work for you doesn’t work for everyone. Additionally, Slaughter is Deathcore and Slipknot is Nu-Metal so the styles are noticeably different.The metal community doesn’t judge, we just enjoy having more members in the family.
It's actually funny you mentioned Slipknot because I checked out Slaughter to Prevail for the first time last night and I checked out Baba Yaga and I heard super duper early Slipknot in the chorus.

Don't know if you already know this, but if you visit slam worldwide on TH-cam, it can be a very good place to discover any new band of your liking because whats unique is mostly every band on this TH-cam channel has a different sound. Russian band, but with an American label, so some tracks are in both Russian and English, or all mixed, it's just information for those who haven't Googled yet....Sasha Shekolai's vocals can be heard in another slipknot cover where his vocals are similar to the young Corey Taylor from Slipknot...well, few people know that the vocalist was inspired earlier by Cory's vocals and not only vocals, the whole group was inspired by slipknot.

You know which channel I think is super underrated?? Metal Piano Music. The guy spends weeks composing classic metal songs into classical/relaxing piano pieces and he hardly gets any views. I love his arrangement of The Sentinel by Judas Priest. That guy really deserves millions of followers
Definitely Baba Yaga by them next time, it's a little more melodic and it's giving me an early Slipknot vibes (clean parts at least), the drums are on point too so I think you would definitely like it a lot. And they are Russians so big part of the lyrics are in russian actually.

Definitely do the the Bad Guy cover. My favorite is Lonely Day by SOAD, very funny and self-depreciating, with some surprisingly angelic cleans at the end too. If you have access to a heavy bag, try working the bag while listening to Demolisher.
Loved the instruments, especially the drumming. Not a fan of songs that are all growling, but at least they have different growls for emphasis. You'll have to show off your new tat once the wrap comes off.
You should check out some Periphery, good blend of tasteful growls and excellent clean vocals, and second to none musicianship. Bit more accessible than stuff like this (although STP are still class). Try “The Bad Thing”.
Should you ever do any of Alex’s covers songs I would suggest Bad Guy(Billie Eilish), Chandalier(Sia), and Ride(21 Pilots). They are of course ridiculous, but it’s part of the fun and charm of Alex’s goofy side doing these pop covers. Plus it might help you to decipher his growls when you know the lyrics.
