This song brings back memories. Around 1983/4 when I was in a short-lived five-piece swing band (2 sax/clarinet, drums, string bass and me on piano) we had mainly older pieces but I suggested we add a couple of Shakatak songs. I spent ages transcribing the solos from listening to Night Birds and Invitations from the vinyl and shifting the stylus to replay phrases repeatedly. Lovely to hear your original interpretation. Thanks!
This is great Kono, I like Shakatak they use a nice piano tone. I like the part when you played Night birds too! There's a nice song by 80s British jazz funk group - Imagination, the song is called 'Body Talk'. I think you might know it, it has a nice haunting piano arrangement. It would be nice to hear you play this sometime too with your wonderful improvisations! 😊
