I recently came across your channel and you had me at donkey, dogs, cats, 40 acres, and chateau. We live on the Canadian Prairies on an ex-farm with 60 acres - the two of us with 5 dogs and 7 cats. Always lots to fix, plant, weed, clean - it's never ending and, mostly, that's just fine. Just wanted you to know I appreciate your work you are doing and the plans you share. Keep up the great work!
If you add plain silk panels under the curtains and use the curtains on the outside then that would give it a very rich luxurious feeling.Extend the curtain rods either side of the window and use the original curtain rail for the silk. Just an idea.

Amanda, I too save my coffee grounds from my drip coffee maker. I have sprinkled them in my gardens for 50+ years. Coffee grounds and egg shells put nutrients in the soil and encourage worms in your flowerbeds and garden. An old recycling habit long before there were even thoughts of municipal recycling. Yes the beautiful wallpaper does go with the marble fireplace....this room is going to be stunning. The curtains do look lovely, whatever happens you will find some windows for them to grace.
A tip on recycling coffee pod aluminium, I bought a Christmas tree made from beautifully crafted coffee pods (mostly green) that had been twisted and flattened into circular shapes with gold accents and the odd red one and glued onto a profiterole tower cone. I bring it out every year as a table decoration. It looks amazing.
The wallpaper is beautiful. It's easy to hang. You can do it yourself. What a comfortable looking room the salon is. It's gonna look wonderful once it's complete.
Your Chateau has so many beautiful features and the proportions are just perfect. I hope you don’t have to replaster the walls before papering. I have papered over some dodgey areas of my walls and am turning a blind eye for now. I curse the hunt, last year there was a massive organised hunt “ battu” that surrounded our property and they had all parked their white vans in our garden !!! We are surrounded by farmland and forest .I keep my dog inside on Sunday morning or she barks madly at the hunters and I don’t want her to scare away any animals that might be taking refuge in our garden. My veg garden is also very overgrown and weedy. I need to crack on, as Spring will be here before we know it. The warm Autumn really brought the weeds on !

Curtains were used to block drafts in winter,they even used them on doors. Up in winter, down in summer. Rugs the same to warm floors, down in winter up in summer. Did and I still do in Virginia.

Get some of those furniture sliding disks - pop them under the feet and slide furniture on the floor without scratching it at all. They're made for wood/tile and carpet. Total lifesavers. The wallpaper is gorgeous, an obviously a perfect match to the fireplace!
I had kept lot of those Nespresso pods in my greenhouse/potting shed (one day, yes one day I will tackle this boring an time consuming job and empty them...), I was very surprised that some animals, I think mice, ate all the coffee out of them!!! You salon will look amaaaaazing with this stunning wall paper, wow it's so beautiful!

Yes, the petite salon needs some love, with that said, I love the wallpaper you have chosen. The branch motif in the wallpaper composition goes well with the fire place mantel. You will need new draperies for this room. You can always recycle the other in another room, perhaps another guest bedroom. It would look very grand indeed. Your style is so different from what was there before so don't worry if you never reuse the old drapes again. Love your style. I wish I was your neighbor, I'd help you with your garden. From what I can tell - your climate is comparable to ours here in the Southen US, zone 8a. If so, you can get onions, cabbages, and other cold hardy crops in February. I cover them with a frost cloth but an old mattress pad will work, too 😊 I absolutely adore those curtains! I'm hoping you can use them.
