Dude, I'm so sorry to hear that you got taken to the cleaners by that CB shop because I am an electronic technician and started my electronics career working on Radios, TVs, CB, and Ham Radios and it's the biggest rip-off market on the planet as these guys charge three times what the parts are worth and four times what their labors worth because nobody knows what they're doing. I sure as hell do, and it ain't all that complicated!! 🧐 BTW when I had a CB, I had the SWR down to 1.2:1 and communicated at least 35 miles with a SHURE power mike and only 5 watts connected to a 1/4 wave antenna (9.5 ft)! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺ P.S You should NOT be hearing yourself in your radio, that is harmful regen and feedback and don't let anybody else tell you otherwise, and to everyone with a mobile two-way radio you need to regularly service your radio, coax cables (especially the connections), and antennas to keep it in tip-top operating condition, just like you do your truck and trailer! Also get your own SWR meter and use it regularly to check coax and antenna connections!
Very interesting video Mikey. I enjoyed the breakdown of all the towns pretty neat. Glad you finally made it home be safe enjoy your weekend God bless you and I'll see you on the next one. 🙏✌️☄️☄️R. BkKTS
That was my first large car Transtar 2, COE. Fully equipped for the time when I drove it. Power and heated mirrors and power window on the right side and a 3 stage Jake brake and AM FM radio. CB? Radio Shack 21 channel and some Firesticks on my mirrors! Lol! From there I moved to a GE That I ran for a long time. Afterwards? It was a Uniden and a string of Cobra 19's and whatever antennas the truck came with! You remind me of a couple guys I have worked with 😂! They knew thier stuff. General Lee and Strikers and linears. I knew when they were around and when they were either in front of me or coming up on my back door. Those were the guys who I ran back and forth between PA and Holyoke, MA and sometimes PA and Richmond, VA with. Good Times and memories. It's harder and harder to find a good radio shop. Best of luck with your new two way! God bless and safe travels.
Phone booths and Phone books. Also remember phone's at your dinner booths. So true brother about So much to do when only one day off. Shut down and sitting in Golden, Co.
If you’re ever around carencro just outside of Lafayette hit up hop cb and pc repair if you need any CB work done. He’s been working on radios for over 30 years and drove trucks. A 2 SWR is still kinda high. 1.5 and below is where you want to be. Sounds like you need some new coax. If you ever run your own coax go with RG8X. Good coax and a good ground make all the difference.
Those darn CB’s will drain the wallet. Of course about 25% of drivers even use them. Which makes it more frustrating. Stay safe Mike catch next time ✌️
Brother Mike.. the scenery was great, to see the old town as time stopped but we've sped up. thanks for keeping it real and take a rest brother. From SC to LA God Bless and safe travels till next time..
I remember when we had beepers......hated when it went off cuz then had to start looking for one of those ole nasty pay phones to call the office to see what was up.....
It's hard to find a Sonic in Virginia now. We had 2 in my town but now we have 0. You have to drive 30 minutes to find 1. Dollar Generals are popping up every 3 miles though.
Man I love those old cabovers too. 1st truck I ever rode in was my grandpa's early 80s international when I was 6 years old. That's when I was hooked for life. I drove a seasonal job for a couple years in the late 90s that had me in a kw k100 and boy I miss that truck. My dream truck now is an old Pete 362 but my wife says she won't be riding with me if I get one and I don't blame her lol. So I'm ok with setting that dream aside
I drove the cabovers for my 10 years on the road before i went local. I sure remember the Walmart Internationals. We called them cornbinders. Those cabovers would beat u to death if the road was rough! I still loved them though.
No ken moran.. chad my boss is not associated with Ken moran.. but yes chad owns the tanker and flatbed and they do have some bulk pneumatic and some dry van stuff..
@@Life-On-18-Wheels I drove for Ken Moran too, when he bought the maroon Internationals with flatbeds. I knew Ken and Chad weren’t related, I just held back on putting their last names out there lol and I get all my cab work done at the 103 too, great guys up there.
Hello Mike and Bella. Wow, Mike I have just noticed that you have lost a lot of weight over time from when you first started this channel. Very nicely done by staying on the carnivore diet. Bella seems to know just when your getting close to home, front seat checking things out.

@@raymondbradley6788 you can tell he watches Boneheaded truckers too 😅
Lmao I watched a few videos
I think the 30 minute video format is the sweet spot for you. Just my two cents, for what it’s worth.
Definitely love cab overs that was the first truck I drove otr was a 1977 mack cruise liner no ac or power steering 😃

Absolutely
The red on antenna matches the Pete emblem on the side!! Looks nice!
A other awesome video once again 👌.

Thanks for the video! I'll definitely try that recipe at the end! I got all the ingredients and muffin pans.
Absolutely
$400?? Hell that’s why ain’t no more cb shops left!😂 might as well just get a new radio for that price
I remember when we had beepers......hated when it went off cuz then had to start looking for one of those ole nasty pay phones to call the office to see what was up.....
Daggum, 😂I was sitting here and after your video ended, I saw the sausage baskets. Now I know what's for breakfast. Thanks.
Lol they are tasty

I'm glad your CBS working again
Calhoun cb shop does good work
Hi Mike ! Those antennas offset the red Peterbilt emblems on the hood. They look good. Thanks for another awesome video .
I always had better luck with a single antenna , however that was back in the 80's. May be a big change since then. Dave
I hear 1 is best and then I hear 2 is best.. I seem to think 2 but who knows
Couldn't see that for away but was that a 9670 my dad drove a cab over grain hauling ❤
at lease cally looks happy 2 going home
U look tired. Hope u got some rest..I been eating 2 Muffins every morning since u first showed them. We love em
My Dad drove a couple different Mack Truck Cabovers (orange), always love seeing one on the road, catch ya on the flip flop!
I always liked running two antennas on mine

What does SWR mean for a CB radio ?
Winding rroad through Arkansas looked fun for my Mustang. 😊
SWR standing wave ratio And that’s all I know
I thought it was short wave radio.
What george said
$160 a piece for finals? Man I would’ve just got a new Stryker radio… Good you got it fixed either way.
New radios are alot more expensive
Does Bella ride more in the passenger seat with the new truck Mike? Drive safe. God Bless.
Oh yeah.. the base of the seat is a little bigger and she can fit in it without falling off
@@Life-On-18-Wheels Bella is singing Moving On Up in her head.
Geesh 400 that's a lot of scratch. We're in the wrong business. 😎
If that’s a Stryker u can check your swr on your radio and adjust your coax or antennas yourself
It a connex
What kind of antennas do you use Mike
Everhardt steel base load
Dad drive for Ken? Or himself? Chad owns the Tanker Division and flatbed too?
