NFS The Run is truly the best Need For Speed Game (In my opinion). The graphics have aged surprisingly well, the gameplay is immersive and exciting, the dynamic soundtrack is unrivaled, the car list is up there with the best (plus decent customization), online mode has a great net-code, the handling model is a perfect mix of arcade and realism, the challenge series is a nice addition, the police are perfectly aggressive, extreme mode offers a real challenge, and of course the story is the best in the series. What's there not to like? (Side note: The race featured in this video only adds to my point). BlackBox truly went out with a bang.
Yeah, they really hit their peak for this one - except not including freeroam and making it a linear game. It saddens me that they died after the release of this game.
The gaphics aged really really well. I'd say if this game had more tiny details, more polygons on the cars and higher quality textures along with a small lighting update it's already up to 2020 standards. From all Black Box NFS this NFS have the least amount of mods available. NFS MW 2005 have graphic mod, more cars mod, sound... Independence pass was definitely the most heart racing moment of any need for speed game I've ever played. The music, the cinematics, the avalanche. Even today it still gives me chills

5:10 Actually there were plans to do something like that. Around the time the first or second underground came out (would appreciate a check on which one), there were plans to alternate each year between Hot Pursuit’s focus on high-end supercars and Underground’s Street racing focus, but due to the vast success of Underground, they scrapped the hot pursuit installment (called NFS Repoman I believe) which would eventually become Most Wanted.
This was one of the first racing games that I've ever played when I was a kid, and well I fell in love with the topic of cars because of this game. I would hop on my PS3 and just play this game over and over and over again, just the intense music, the cars, and the cutscenes (muah). And Theo you really are right about Driveclub, Forza, NFS, and The Crew, I want all of the companies who created these legendary games to come together and make the best racing game known to mankind itself.... This is hands down probably my favorite NFS game, probably even my favorite game today years later....
Forreal bro the best races the series have ever had even the last race when Marcas tries to shoot you and you have to race through the underground railroad against a freakin train.....insane experience. These races were amazing. My favorite tracks in this game would be the Vegas races, I just loved the structure of the city tracks, This Race you're doing on the summit, the canyons and the last race against Marcas.
I miss when game developers took chances like this. This game was extremely fun to me and tbh I didn't even know it had DLC and yet I still had fun with this. I definitely loved it when it came to the cop chases.
I remember beating it on extreme last year, and really struggling with the time attack you did first and having to do a glitch to swap cars into the BMW M3 GTS.
Your next let's play should be undercover (PC) or Split/Second. But yes, I agree, this single event is the most legendary vehicular event in video gaming history. And you're not a real man until you've done a zero reset run on extreme difficulty down independence pass.
It would’ve been cool if black box used the bmw gt2 kit for the e92 instead of the gts also in my opinion the sounds in the run are better than the current nfs car sounds
Idk if anyone else remember, but my favorite race from this game is racing in the forest with all the yellow leaves all on the ground, having to race with the snowflake edition Porsche 911 with the blue headlights
The reason the run feels fast in 60fps is because everything is scaled correctly, as in the roads aren't like 4 football fields wide like in most modern racing games. So the effect you're getting is the same as in real life when you go 50 on a backroad versus 50 on the freeway. It feels faster but it's not because the environment is closer to the driver.
Theo is right, the Artillery Avalanche run is one of my favorite events of NFS, it litterally puts the "Need" in Need for Speed. I bet if u could grab the guys from Split/Second and get them to make a new NFS game. It would create another "The Run"
By far the hardest NFS, and I LOVE IT!!! Pants, you are NOT a baboon!!! You are CORRECT!!! That IS the BEST race in NFS HISTORY!!! It surpasses Heat in so many ways. Yes, the other two had more story and features, but they lack substance IMHO. The could have executed them better. I miss blackbox. They knew how to make a proper NFS. The RUN is proof of it. The physics, the sounds, the sights, the soundtrack....truely an unsung hero. A tiny bit more character depth would have been nice....
The whole gameplay of NFS the run was soo good, it was intense and fun and the soundtrack was awesome and the whole game was thrilling. It almost kinda reminds me of driveclub. But this specific level does remind me off motorstorm apocalypse and split second
YES! NFS : The Run so intense racing the best car selection I've ever seen in a NFS game .In NFS Heat I replicated the 2012 Camaro ZL1 from, This game, The Run has the best soundtrack ever! The car damage was good too. :) This game needs a remaster for PS4 and PS5 it would be amazing!
This race goes to the number one spot in NFS history as being the most badass thing ever created, ya'll can fuck off with U2 and MW05, because this is the shit and I like how it says "Survived" after each "checkpoint" it really adds immersion and fear, I hope to see more races like this in future titles
What I'd like the most in the next need for speed game is a first person camera option. How cool would be speeding and near missing traffic in first person!?
Everyone talking about the game or this video but no one talking about that banging idea of alternating NFS styles like COD!? You can have your NFS MW 2012 and Hot Pursuits from Criterion and have your night life modded classic style from Ghost studios. Each studio gets 2 years to work on a title. How great would that be!?
Motorstorm Apocalypse in my opinion had way more set pieces in terms of intensity and race designs. Almost every race was like Independence Pass. And Split Second had pretty good set pieces most of or all of them were way more large scale as well and they were optional and interactive. In terms of The Run, the best race was the San Francisco race because of the level design and the theme, with the most cops and city Lockdown, the Run was the most 'Need for Speed' in that race.
The Run is massively underrated
It’s arguably one of the best titles in the NFS series
I wouldn't go that far, but it definetly is great

I miss blackbox. They knew how to make a proper NFS. The RUN is proof of it. The physics, the sounds, the sights, the soundtrack....truely an unsung hero.
A tiny bit more character depth would have been nice....
Ya you back boi
The whole gameplay of NFS the run was soo good, it was intense and fun and the soundtrack was awesome and the whole game was thrilling. It almost kinda reminds me of driveclub. But this specific level does remind me off motorstorm apocalypse and split second
Wouldn't the "perfect race" be on hard and the driver has a flawless run, even the best driving inputs and line? None of which this man has ever done?
The Run is so underrated.
Corsa and mcla still cancelled soz
dead meme
Sad m8
Daniel Neubert sad m8, I cri everytiem
@@MidnightClubStillCancelledSoz indeed, quite sad m8.
Very sad m8
The Chicago Escape & Las Vegas escaping the cops too
Play this game to this day, online and all
That’s crazy how black panthaa can play old need for speed games!!! 😳😳😳
The Timetrail music is legendary
This game is so underrated. Its one of the best game in the franchise. For me its the best.
Honestly the soundtrack in this game was the best ever, change my mind
This race goes to the number one spot in NFS history as being the most badass thing ever created, ya'll can fuck off with U2 and MW05, because this is the shit and I like how it says "Survived" after each "checkpoint" it really adds immersion and fear, I hope to see more races like this in future titles
This was probably the best nfs story wise, eventhough the non driving parts were qt events it was still cool as fuck
Test Drive Unlimited was truly a gem of it's time
Pants: Imagine having GTR Police cars
Me: Laughs in Dubai
Tochigi Prefecture: AM I A JOKE TO YOU!?
What I'd like the most in the next need for speed game is a first person camera option. How cool would be speeding and near missing traffic in first person!?
''Its ok, we take down the police man as well''
Everyone talking about the game or this video but no one talking about that banging idea of alternating NFS styles like COD!?
