I'm restoring an oak savanna on my property, and as such, I have to remove a lot of trees. I'm surprised how many people think that a forest is the natural state of the environment everywhere when grasslands were at least as common. A savanna is no more than half trees, but they are scattered. Our land originally had only a few trees or none per acre and was mostly prairie. Most habitats require occasional fire as well, and very few people are aware of that.
By Jove! I do believe this is the most proper narration of stream restoration in the entire English speaking world! Heathens of the stream restoration should take note.
Beaver dam analogues, with one installed right where drain left original historical channel. Let the stream find its way down the old meandering course. Add some beavers. A little slower, but restores natural processes as well as cheaper, more cheerful. Do two projects for the cost of one.
Wouldn't it have simpler and cheaper to simply install some BDAs made of logs and rock baffles into the canal and let the stream just start some new meanders? It will then wander across the floodplain over the coming millennia as it has in the past.
Well let’s order no more lightening strikes then!🙄 N L, Well done In delivering a master class in how to demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of natural processes.

Beautiful project and beautiful video without the curse of background music. Thank you so much.
Well done gentlemen. You went above and beyond in so many areas

Great project well worth the effort, I wonder has it also restored the wetland source?
Great to see!
Thank you, enjoy it very much

What work if any is being done on the Thames ?
Just comparing 6 inch OS maps 1870 vs 1897 the same was done to Avon Water by Broadley Enclosure and Setthorns.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Tributaries of the Thames also.
The wood should go into the water.

Did the Tories eventually destroy all of this, or were you able to preserve some of the changes?
Great video. But look at 3:00. You were caught reversing the video
Is that Piers Morgan narrating?
