It has been 40 years since I used to vacation at Seaside Park, NJ with my family. Now I live in Colorado. It is devastating to see what has happened to these wonderful beach communities. Thank you for posting.

Unbelievable damage. Thank you to all the police, national guard, fire and ambulance crews, and utility workers. They worked long hours and put their own safety aside to assist others both on the barrier island and mainland during hurricane Sandy. Never saw anything like it before. Thank you for all your hard work.

Twelve years ago I moved to Manhattan and John was one of my first roommates. Within months of [barely] knowing each other, he took me down to the shore. Like every other person that entered that house, I left will a full stomach, a good nights sleep, and a sense that I was part of the extended family (and a hangover, but that's not important). My heart goes out to all of you guys, but if there is any community that bounce back, it's you. Please let me know when I can come down and help.

Unfortunately for a lot of us it’s not a great little place to get away for a summer vacation, it’s where we live and make our living. The destruction is unbelievable thanks for sharing.

The video starts about 1 1/2 miles from my house. Thankfully, I had very little damage--gutters, some siding, a couple of trees, no power for 10 days but nothing really major. The most I lost was a couple hundred dollars of food in the freezer/fridge. My niece's house in Normandy burned down . People I regularly saw at local businesses lost everything. These houses were not all summer homes. These were year-round homes completely washed away, flooded out, or burned to the ground.

Nothing like this has ever hit the Jersey Shore. The landscape, wind currents, and ocean currents usually throw the brunt of major storms further out to sea. This storm was an anomaly--it was absolutely huge and slow-moving, during a full moon (higher tides), and carried massive storm surges. The location of the houses aren't to blame. Some were over 100 years old.

Can we get a re-upload without the music? I'd rather hear what they're saying.

This video shows where one of my closest friends house once stood. It was one of the houses in Mantaloking that burnt to the ground. Was anyone out there witness to when the fire started and details that can be shared?

Maybe building houses on a small sandbank in the middle of the ocean wasn't such a good idea in the first place

I suppose in these trying times there’s some comfort in knowing that President Obama has been elected to a second term. He's a practical leader and understands what all the poor disadvantaged middle class people in Mantoloking and Bay Head are going through. He should be given credit for his swift and unending response to this crisis. God bless America! Now can anybody tell me where I go to extend my unemployment benefits and when my free health care begins?

There's several homes not more than 20-30 feet from the water. You obviously are in complete denial.

Do we tell you where you live is a cesspool? Do you even know what a cesspool is? Keep your negativity to yourself, please. That was home to a lot of people.

I voted dislike... It would have been an informative video, but the effect of the left and right blinders screwed it up... What was the purpose of it?

Charles Norris it’s a phone video. There wasn’t iPhones wit 2 cameras on it. It was a razor. And they snuck onto the island. What are they going to bring a thousand dollar camera...... I vote like...
