    I wonder if any of the young couples dancing on this show ever got married.
    If they did, they probably now (2018) have grandchildren and might be able to show their grandchildren this clip, telling them "Back in 1967, your Grandma and Grandpa danced on 'American Bandstand''. See how young we looked then!"

    Thanks for posting this! It is fun to see the color. I do see though that the bandstand says '68, not '67 as you state in your description. It is cool nevertheless! Famous and June were the most famous of all the regulars on the show. I don't believe he ever missed a taping! Great guy! I hope more of these color episodes come up. You will see some pretty bright outfits!!

      Hi Peggy! I wish there were more color episodes, but as of now there is only 1 that I know of floating around, but I’m always looking for more....I’d LOVE to see those bright outfits!
      About the bandstand logo and the title credits (American Bandstand ‘68), starting in the 64-65 season and up until 68-69, the logo and show title always had the second half of that seasons year on it. In this clips, for example, it’s Nov. 1967 but the logo and title says ab68 for the 67-68 season. I’m not sure why they didn’t just change the logos in January so it would always show the current year and not be so confusing, but hey, Dick Clark seemed to know what he was doing, lol.
      I’m so glad you are enjoying these clips!

      AB always changed the season's date with the September episode each year for the "TV Season year". I recall (just once, however) that AB changed the season's year in between episodes during one of those all-day tapings. We came back from break and saw that the logo had been changed to "AB 6#". I can't recall what year that was though. ~~ Don

    While tv studios still dressed sets to optimize picture resolution on the dwindling numbers of B&W receivers, this is definitely dressed for color.
    At least as much as Clark's production budget would dictate.
    One of the secrets to AB's on air longevity was that of the "bottom line".
    From its inception as a local show in 1952, AB was never over produced nor had any higher production values than were absolutely necessary.
    ABC, being a poor third in ratings until the seventies found its niche in cheaply produced shows. Clark's numerous creations from 1957 onward were among the lowest cost programs on the schedule for many years.

    Ironically, some episodes of "American Bandstand" were seen locally in color in Philadelphia in 1957, but were fed to ABC in black-and-white.
    The show didn't begin regular network colorcasts until September of 1967. It was the last ABC-TV network program (or program on any U.S. commercial network), apart from reruns or old movies, to be broadcast in black-and-white.

    There's alot of poignancy to this Song. It was the last one that Carol King did with her Former First Husband Gerry Coffin in the late 1960's, it was featured in the Hit Movie The Big Chill and when Aretha Franklin performed it in a Surprise for Miss King at The Kennedy Center Honors, she was so moved and touched she cried. Today her Music is seen on Broadway and Paul Anthony Stewart (Former Soap Star Danny Santos Guiding Light) plays Don Kirshner.

      Veronica A. and just think -- each episode was "pre-packaged" with identical sponsors' commercials before being distributed to every market that aired American Bandstand (with the exception of the small breaks for "station identification"). As much as I revere Bandstand, it kind of makes one wonder about the messaging, doesn't it? ~~ Don

    • @AmericanBandstandAgain
      @AmericanBandstandAgain 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The market I watched it on, because i am in Canada, was out of Buffalo NY with an antenna. The ABC station there, WKBW never aired the show between September and December for whatever reason, and only aired it starting in January till the end of August. This went on for many years until it left ABC altogether.
