- Auguste Rodin landed a sixth Group 1 of his career as he battled to victory in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot under Ryan Moore.
The victory provided master trainer Aidan O'Brien with a 400th Group or Grade 1 victory on the flat!

I read a lot of comments on other videos about how Auguste Rodin is is not a top racehorse. Just look at his CV. He has the best CV of any horse in training. He's clearly a superstar who will be remembered for a long time. He was outstanding today

No! Stop exaggerating, you read comments from many saying he's a good horse but no great, this was a substandard Prince Of Wales, and his two main rivals were withdrawn, he won it fair and square (although aide by the ride Inspiral received) but he was all out to see off a couple of group two horses, but didn't don't let facts like that stand in the way of a good whinge, hey? Oh, and by the way, I backed him, (just for the record) I was very surprised he wasn't 4/5 or less.
The way he excellerated to take the lead and then excellerated again when they got close was impressive.
Great horse, but probably the greatest trainer that there has ever been.
His performance is not at all surprising to Japanese. Deep Impact is the answer.

The key to this colt is having firm or good to firm ground with a lively pace to run at. Auguste Rodin appeared to have both of those factors in his favor today at Royal-Ascot in winning the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes. When he's got that sound surface & lively pace scenario, then I think it makes little difference to him whether he's racing at 10F, 10-1/2F, or 12F. Even with the challenges that came at him late from French contingent Zarakem & Horizon Dore, who both for the record ran awfully well in defeat, Ryan Moore never appeared to have ever gotten rattled, nor did he allow Auguste Rodin to either. He just always looked like he was gonna have enough in the locker and be able to repel those challenges that came late without a lot of effort in doing so.
Has won 3 grade 1’s with the word ‘soft’ in the going.

@@Martin.Lewis..The only group 1 with soft or heavy was at 2yo. So he had a lighter frame to carry.

yeah defo good to firm horse seems to have his days off too but solid horse he probably be even better at 4. Strikes me as the type.
Very well said mate, he's a class horse but very quirky, he likes things the way he likes them. One thing he always showed is fantastic heart in a battle, very smart horse always saves 10/15 % of himself.

@SIGMASIGMA-ex1xkSigma Trueshan doesn't run when the ground is good/fast like this race. Hukum wouldn't either. Pyledriver the same. Possibly Baaeed would be unbeaten on fast ground and a better jockey.
The point is horses need somethings in their favour and not negatives.
That is basically how good gamblers make money.

Brave winner, didn’t look like he was entirely happy on that faster ground but stamina and class got him across the line. Hope they take AR to the King George and the Arc 😊

Auguste Rodin looks like he’s still improving. As soon as the pack got to him he picked up again & won with a bit in hand. He’ll be tough to beat this season.
He has been beaten twice this season, he picked up today against group 2 horses rated pounds below him. His rating remains at 125, he isn't improving he is running to the same level when he wants to and 125 is his ceiling. An above average Derby winner who is building a nice cv of group 1 wins but definitely not in the superstar category that some would say he is.

Great ride and win by Auguste Rodin probably doesn't get the credit he deserves due to only ever doing enough in his races. Will be interesting if O'Brien runs City of Troy and Auguste Rodin in the Irish champion stakes before COT goes Arc and Aguste Rodin breeders cup

I think this is a very smart horse and they’ve finally figured him out. There’s a lot of talk about his resemblance to his grandsire Sunday Silence and that’s right but the horse he really reminds me of in his style of running is his maternal great grandsire Sadlers Wells and this performance was just like that horse taking the 1984 Eclipse. Taking the lead and just pulling out more. Never flashy but tough as teak (and didn’t go on the soft - hence his only poor run in the Arc). Which makes me believe he’s going to be quite a stallion and remember Sadlers Wells sired Galileo (amongst others) and through him Frankel. I think it would be fascinating to see him on dirt. Both him and City of Troy are out of Galileo mares which I don’t think is a plus but with that resemblance to a great dirt horse in Sunday Silence I’d imagine he has the greater chance. I know Justify was a great dirt horse too but City of Troy more closely resembles Galileo who bombed out on dirt. Would have been interesting to see how White Birch had got on against him away from his favoured track and going. Hopefully they’ll meet again.

@@Cindrella-q1r What's there to joke about? This opinion is internationally recognized and accepted for its accuracy in terms of a career which ended in a sequence of 33 wins. It is very unlikely that Auguste Rodin will reproduce Winx's success under Moore.

Did well to find his old form & stave off a couple of French Group 2 horses, but didn't prove he'd reverse form on the streaking White Birch; also, I wonder if would he have held off the noticeably absent Passenger if that one showed up & reproduced his last race; at any rate, keep him at 10 furlongs the rest of the campaign if you don't want to see any more "mysterious" clunkers; he can go back to 12 for the easy pickings at the BC if they don't point for the Classic.
A few mistakes on Inspiral but without a decent start from the wide draw he was always going to be beat. But if the Gosden's want winners again they need to find a top jockey...

Think this is the ride that confirms it, he is appalling. Inspiral is the classiest horse in this field, if not joint with AR but Shoemark made him look like a 100/1 shot. Way too far off the pace yet again

He wouldn't be that far away he did run well in the Derby .But his last run flattered him l think. Time will tell.

@@MarkFayleyes I would agree with you on that. Like Ace Impact and so many other French winners of the Arc he won't be seen out until the Arc trials and that will be his only prep for the Arc. First Look didn't do an awful lot for the form this week but on different ground and so soon after the French Derby I'm not going to focus too much on that run (even if it did see me miss out on 2k that day 😭).

Ive won more money on this horse than any other horse ever. You actually get good odds on him considering his overall achievements. The fact that he throws in the odd stinker is to our benefit from a betting point of view. Id never back him at odds on but in reality he should be odds on every race

There was nothing to beat in that race. That white horse that trounced it the last time would have won easy if it was able to race. Guyon was in a bad position on the second. If things went smoothly it could have given Auguste Rodin something to think about. Moore deserves no credit for this ride because it had nothing to beat. It looked like a group 2 horse beating some group 3 horses. That used to be a good race. Racing must be more finished than I thought it was.

@christophebonhoefferofbelg9846 Racing will bring everyone to tears in the end. I was full of enthusiasm 10 years ago, but the fraud has gotten out of control. I'm only informing the people. I'm happy enough because I'm expecting the worst, so I never get disappointed. I feel for you if you think you're going to make money backing horses. If you do, I'm afraid you're going to have to learn the hard way like so many more. It actually was possible to make a few quid years ago. I often made thousands, but the corruption nowadays is out of control. A bit of advice from an old boy. Call it off. It's a waste of time. Moore, Murphy and Colin Keane are as dodgy as the rest of them.
White Birch would not have beaten him. Ascot is a different course and the going was much faster. I’m guessing you’ve come to racing late and with limited knowledge or experience.
@MartinJackman-mh4gx We'll never know what would have happened. I think White Birch would have beaten him again. It ran a good time at the Curragh last time out and isn't short of gears. Auguste Rodin was workmanlike in beating a 33/1 shot. I can't see any reason how that performance by Auguste Rodin would be enough to reverse the placings. I knew Auguste Rodin would win because it looked like a poor Prince of Wales in terms of quality. I'd be in no rush to back Auguste Rodin again after that display.
