Right? Imagine never reading the books and simply from hearsay characterizing Lady Jessica's role in the book as based on an outdated or old-fashioned worldview when at the time it was really progressive. The Bene Gesserit and subsequently the Honored Matres are hands down THE most formidable faction in the Dune universe, NO ONE FUCKS WITH THEM, and if they try they're swiftly dealt with. @@zippymufo9765 First, autism is not a mental disability, it's a spectrum of different mental conditions, affecting social behaviors and communication, inducing a vast array of possible atypical socialization patterns. It can also result in the brain lacking a "filter" to sort out information, creating a sensorial overload. Secondly, it is not a mannerism in itself, but yes it comes with a series of mannerism and physical signs recognizable, like fidgeting, lack of eye contact, forgetting words, delayed speaking, speech bursts, obsessive tendency towards specific topic. Rebecca is the best part of the movie aside from Javier. Timothy needs to thank the gods that he just has that look and maybe attend a few acting classes in the meantime
I think doing Dune in two movies is only great if both are greenlit. If the Studio awaits to see the box office , in this forsaken covid era, I really wonder if I want to give them my money in the first place. I watch the first half of Dune if the end is guaranteed. Sorry Hollywood I just don't trust your men in suits.
It would be insane for them not to do it. It will happen somewhere no matter what. I personally think it will make enough money not to be a problem but part 2 will happen no matter what
That's nice that you acknowledge the native land. It makes we wonder though, if Canada has lately become very conscious of the native tribes, why does Canada continue to have such liberal immigration policies which allow ever larger numbers of non-natives to move onto native land? Have the natives been asked if they want their land to continue to become ever more populated by non-natives?
Enough of the native land acknowledgements every time you pick up the microphone. According to this logic every youtuber filming in North America would need to say this speech at the beginning of every video since all of it was native land. That's not gonna happen.
Seriously? Land acknowledgments are the least we can do. Indigenous people get so little representation as is, so if you can't handle someone taking a minute to acknowledge the land we're standing on, then that's your own problem. Also what is this constant obsession with "wokeness" just bc people are being respectful? It's one of the largest film festivals in the world, so your TH-camr comparison is a straw man that makes literally no sense
Rebecca is somewhat unpleasant. She might be hiding nerves behind performative arrogance. She was perhaps the weakest link in an otherwise superb film. Perhaps she lacks the intellectual capacity to understand the role or the multi layers of the work.
For me it is the scify version that is still tops. Even given the cheese factor, the less money and some bad dated cgi, some of the costumes. For me the scifi miniseries is still the best. This version had really bad sound and music for me. The use of grating shitty bagpipes was beyond stupid. The several parts of weird screaming chanting wasn't for my taste. The lack of character interaction and scene time. . . If you didn't read the book you don't get the full impact of Yueh's traitorous actions. He is barely in it. Remove the ceremony scene and put in the dinner scene. More interactions in made up scenes with the characters. Yet another hype disappointment.
This movie is like lipstick on a pig . You ask why ? Well it's because because no matter how great Frank Herbert's book was it can't make the abortion called a movie look good ! Even the 1984 movie is ten times better by comparison !

Rebecca still doesn't know how powerful Benne Gesserit are.
They're at the helm STEERING the direction of so many events in the Dune universe, it's crazy to me that this is even a thing.
Talk about impervious to reality, read the damn book Rebecca.
@@ryanwilbanks2258 Buncha nerds. Relax.
Getting to the honored Matres is a lot of reading.
@@ryanwilbanks2258 the multiple instances of her crying, seemingly always on the edge emotionally. . .
I wanted to like this movie and it was decent but honestly it was a major let down for me. The music and sound sucked ass for me.
I thought with splitting the book we would get more scenes never brought to the screen. Leto's hallucinations as he walks in the desert with his father. Not in the movie.
The dinner scene. Not in the movie. It was like there was less screen time for the characters and their interactions and too much scenes of made up crap like the ceremony scene in this movie and the long lingering nature shots. Along with a few montage like scenes.
God Emperor is my favorite book and I was hoping in some way maybe this director would find some way to bring that book or Heretics and chapterhouse to the screen but now I don't want him to even direct the part 2 of book one.
Just so disappointed
@@ryanwilbanks2258 it’s pretty obvious how powerful they are in the movie. They are inserted at every single level. Calm down

I can hardly wait to see it
For some reason, I find Villeneuve's shyness, and slight autistic mannerism incredibly charming.
"Autism" is a mannerism now? 😂 Didn't it used to be a mental disability?
@@zippymufo9765 First, autism is not a mental disability, it's a spectrum of different mental conditions, affecting social behaviors and communication, inducing a vast array of possible atypical socialization patterns. It can also result in the brain lacking a "filter" to sort out information, creating a sensorial overload.
Secondly, it is not a mannerism in itself, but yes it comes with a series of mannerism and physical signs recognizable, like fidgeting, lack of eye contact, forgetting words, delayed speaking, speech bursts, obsessive tendency towards specific topic.
Being diagnosed with high functioning autism myself, i recognize a lot of those symptoms in Villeneuve. Not saying he is autistic, just that he has some of those traits (all of the aforementioned to be precise).
@@agahnim0196 Then why did I just see a video of a autistic child punching themselves in the face? 🤔 Seems like people like you have co-opted the term to justify unusual personality traits? And of course to use as a defense whenever someone criticizes you-----"but I'm autistic!" 😃
@@zippymufo9765 xD "Why does my anecdotal experience of seeing a video of something add up to me still thinking you don't know shit about your own condition?" I dunno dude, why does it? xD My god, it really doesn't get weaker than this. "You people co-opted the term that was literally made for you!" xD "Why on earth do you think you know anything about how people might present as autistic just because you're autistic?" xD Jesus fucking Christ, you can't make this stupidity up.
You literally took someone saying that autism can be cute and, because YOU think having autism is some sort of sub-par human experience, turned that compliment into an insult because you literally can't see it any other way. Pa.Thet.Ic. That is SO pathetic, dude. What's worse is you really thought you did something.
@@zippymufo9765 You saw a VIDEO? Wow! That changes everything! I saw a video of a 3 year old playing piano like a pro. All 3 year olds MUST be great at piano! You idiot.
A MONTH...A MONTH..AND A EFFIN WEEK...JUST KILL ME...
What a great job… Brilliant film
What did he mean by over an hour of extra footage just for IMAX? They don't mean you get an extra hour of the film just for watching it in IMAX do they? Or am i being thick and over thinking it??
@Ash 777 Right. Yeah i was being thick. Thanks Ash.👍🏽
Over an hour of footage will be in the taller aspect ratio. Meaning it'll expand from the 2.39 ratio and open matte to the IMAX screen
@0:37 Bro if you're so bummed out you're occupying native peoples land, you can leave and give it back to them. "I just want to say sorry I'm here so I seem like a good person, I don't actually care though" vibes. By the way every group of people took land from other people, that shit is our trademark. If you don't think your people did, you haven't looked that far back in history yet.
Man we need IMAX theatres in smaller EU countries so much...
Holland has it
The tension between these two
That should have been three hours long.
Is it me or does it feel like there's some friction between Denis & Rebecca in this interview?
Sexy yet sophisticated, are they married? English isn’t his 1st language but good job.
It's typical Quebecois humour.
They’re obviously joking around
They seem just friends, which is nice
She's in character.
18:17 I think he thought she said testicals :,D
Oh man she wears that dress wowie
Could not get a frickin ticket for any showings.😠
Dune will have a”certain” audience
Meaning?
?
Dune fans?
*eyes narrow* you got something to say?
Meaning Dennis fans. Dune fans like the books and accept that the movies will be what they are... adaptations.
Yea, uh, there was nothing human about this film. Even the actors are the last people I would consider your everyday “human”.

Rebecca is determined to think that her Jessica is less sexist than novel Jessica.... I guess we shall see
The novel Jessica isn't sexist at all unless you're some SJW identity politics loon.
Her version destroyed the movie for me. The weakest link. Crying blubbering, just shit.
MAJOR SPOILER:
There's a lot of sand.

23:56 WHAT AGE
Okay... look. I love Denis and I think he is one of the best directories of our time. Rebecca is also one of the best actresses around. I love what they do and admire their work. But this interview is extremely cringy and difficult to watch.
theyre joking around, Denis tries to make her uncomfortable
Yes, it does feel uncomfortable to watch. Feels like there's some argument beforehand and that's why it took Rebecca such a long time to come on stage after being introduced.
Don’t worry. They are good friends. It’s just a typical Quebec sense of humor that we have.
The chemistry is huge between those 2! They're having à blast.
Rebecca is the best part of the movie aside from Javier. Timothy needs to thank the gods that he just has that look and maybe attend a few acting classes in the meantime
Rebecca is like the big game football cheerleader trying to say something funny in the middle of the years biggest D’n’D game.
Cringier then the interview. You and Dennis friends?
I think doing Dune in two movies is only great if both are greenlit. If the Studio awaits to see the box office , in this forsaken covid era, I really wonder if I want to give them my money in the first place. I watch the first half of Dune if the end is guaranteed. Sorry Hollywood I just don't trust your men in suits.
The only way it can be guaranteed is if you actually watch it…
It would be insane for them not to do it.
This is a cringy interview to be sure
that dress won't age well...poor girl
poor girl? lol... the audacity
Enough of the native land acknowledgements every time you pick up the microphone. According to this logic every youtuber filming in North America would need to say this speech at the beginning of every video since all of it was native land. That's not gonna happen.
Wat? This is a recording of a live event, not some rando youtube video
@@JINORU_ so now we have to say the land acknowledgement speech at every live event in north America? The wokeness never ends.
No just at Head up your Ass film festivals. Most people understand that colonialism happened.
@@allisterpaquette187 I agree. Same with the whole "I'd like to thank God" and so on... God doesn't exist.
What a horrible dress
This film was crap, Lynch's version is still the best!!! This was boring soulless trash although Barons Brando impersonation was pretty close,
For me it is the scify version that is still tops.
@@porkmilk8984 Agreed also thumbs up for Children of Dune
This movie is like lipstick on a pig . You ask why ? Well it's because because no matter how great Frank Herbert's book was it can't make the abortion called a movie look good ! Even the 1984 movie is ten times better by comparison !
lol ...
