this absolutely. i don't even particularly love Inside Out but it's the world i most want to see in KH4 specifically for these reasons. i do think we're due for an introspective arc for sora now that he's stuck without his friends in quadratum. his breakdown in KH3 set it up perfectly. also one of my pet peeves is when people just characterize sora as always happy-go-lucky all the time or boil all of his anger down to roxas' presence in KH2. his sadness and anger and fear and confusion have been a major part of his character since the first game, it's just that neither he nor other characters talk about it very much
Also the whole point of Inside Out is how Sadness does help build connections through support, which is Sora's whole bread and butter, not necessarily happiness. It wouls also be interesting for Sora to look at his own "personality islands" because stuff like home and family got wiped when the islands fell to darkness.
Having an Inside Out world would be a perfect excuse to have the Unversed come back seeing how they are beings made from negative emotions. Maybe have Sora spend the entire world defeating Unversed until he realizes that it isn't the way he should be going about it. That feels like a good way to tie together gameplay and themes of the movie.
One problem I've always had with the idea with inside out in kingdom hearts is why would sora end up in Riley's mind instead of the actual world but just now i had a thought in kingdom hearts sora is always trying to help people who are going through a lot of hurt so what if in kingdom hearts 4 before going to the inside out world sora feels the heart of someone going through a lot of hurt which is Riley and sora being sora wants to go help this person and so whatever kind of magic is used to travel worlds ends up putting sora in Riley's mind because the best way to help her is to help her emotions As for the enemies because it's inside Riley's mind we could see the return of the nightmare dreameaters what do you think of this idea
I too was thinking of Inside Out for KH4! With the theme of death rolling around for the center of the game, a sub-theme of emotions and understanding would go perfectly for Sora! And who knows if Strelitzia might learn something out it too?
I feel like Inside Out would be perfect to examine Sora’s mindset and how he can process his painful memories and traumatic experiences during the franchise. Rather than Riley, it’s Sora coming to terms with how constantly he’s forced to be happy so much, it’s slowly taking a massive toll on him, explaining rage form, his true feelings. Allowing himself to truly feel sadness so he can have a balanced mind and mentally heal from a lot of his trauma. This would actually allow him to gain powerful abilities and even a new keychain by the end. I imagine this “world” would occur throughout the game like Pooh’s book but in a more personal feel for Sora’s mind, allowing us to really understand the real Sora on a psychological level. I think it’s brilliant but should be carefully planned so it has a bigger impact.
I would actually imagine Inside out being another part of Dive into the Heart. Inside , Sora would meet the emotions and they would all look back on Sora's journey so far at the beginning of the game. While here they will coach you on the game's mechanics to give a crash course to newcomers and veterans while also getting veteran players used to new mechanics. He leaves this world thinking he needs to be more optimistic. I would have this world revisited later in the story when Sora's toxic positivity starts to take a bigger toll. As the villian monsters literally get inside his mind and start limiting his powers as the run amok. He can meet with the FF crew and Aerith can help him access inside his mind "The Mindscape" (Inside Out world) where Anger, Fear and Disgust greet him again, however Donald and Goofy are not physically there with him, the three emotions tell Sora that Joy and Sadness are lost in his memories, and he needs to help get them back. Sora's personality islands are falling apart, being vandalized by the baddies. He finds them, and while Joy is super helpful, Sadness is constantly dead weight in their party, to both Sora and Joy's befoulment. Sadness herself starts to believe she is useless and worthless and a flashback from the first game comes up "This ship runs on happy faces!". A boss fight spawns and Sadness proves useful in placating the boss who turns out to be Shadow Sora. Sadness allows shadow Sora to finally let all the feelings out that sora had been repressing since the first game. Sora himself finally breaks down and Joy realizes that Sadness has a very important role and she can't always be at the helm if they want Sora to be properly motivated and that all the repression is what allowed the baddies to get in his head at all. The three of them find their way back to central command where the five emotions balance each other out to clear all the remaining enemies out of Sora's mind by restoring Sora's personality islands. Sora can from this point on return to Aerith who can take him back to the Mindscape where there will be plenty of mini-games to play with the 5 emotions in his personality islands and as the story progresses, the player will have access old mini-games from previous games as the emotions show him memories they found. =========== Bonus: During the game's credits, it shows a scene of Sora playing a game against Donald where Sora appears to be winning while goofy relaxes in the background. The camera zooms into Sora's mind where the emotions are working as a team to keep him on task. The camera then goes into Goofy's mind where his emotions are all taking a nap. Then to Donald's mind where four of his emotions are hiding from his anger who is throwing a tantrum in the central command room.

For some reason when I think of an inside out world I’ve always imagined sora literally being transported inside his own head and the emotion characters represent his own emotions and t he final boss would be similar to recoded where his own heartless his inner darkness would rise and he’d have to conquer it in order to restore balance to his mind and in return his heart the emotions themselves are pretty universal characters so each one doesn’t have to be for Riley I think that angle would be interesting however if they stocked closer to the film that would also work phenomenal like you discussed here either way the film would make a fantastic world in lh4
That Sora video was freaking amazing dude. I always knew Sora was a more layered and complex character than people give him credit for, but that video explained it very well. Even though I didn't put Inside Out on my Worlds Wish List, given what it could mean for Sora's development, I wouldn't be against it either!
I agree 100%. It's hard to say what kind of worlds and topics will be in KH4, since they aim to be a bit more on the hard and realistic side (well as realistic as KH can go) but Inside Out has so fitting themes for a Kingdom Hearts game.
It would be cool to see the nuance that sadness and anger aren't necessarily darkness, and that he can learn to grieve and come to grips with his reality without giving into the darkness, and I think it would be even more powerful to have Riku go down that road with him.
Wouldn't it be really crazy if we end up fighting the first enemy made of light in the franchise in the Inside Out world? Like Joy/Happiness gets out of control and tries to eliminate all dark and negative emotions, and that Sora's attacks don't do any damage because they're made of light? So in order to save Joy and Ridley would be to learn with the rest of the emotions how to control the sadness, fear and rage in his heart so that he can control his Rage Form, and with that his darkness, just enough to save Joy form to much light? Like telling the message of the movie in a more action oriented way, and showing Sora that the "darkness" inside him isn't necesarilly a bad thing, but that he needs to control that darkness in order to archive balance in order to find peace. I say that because in this new era of Kingdom Hearts, the Master of Masters will probably be the next evil mastermind, and if he wants to eliminate darkness, it's only fair to assume that the light will be our next enemy, and that Sora and friends will need to reach balance between the two.

This, this idea is perfect, and this is possibly the only way we can get the Heartless/Darkside Sora boss fight to come back from Re-Coded in glorious HD, like imagine the boss of that world is a Darkside Sora, it would also perfectly represent a line in KH1 were it says the More Stronger Sora gets, the Stronger his Shadow gets too, and we've seen the result of that in Re-Coded, where his Darkside Heartless gets so Strong that it shrinks down to take the form of Sora, it'd also be a great way to possibly have Sora bridge the gap between light and dark, being able to access Dark Magic like Riku can, and also be a great way to resolve the fact Sora does use Darkness in his Limit with Riku aka Session.
This would be so adorable. I’m gonna make some drawings of what Sora’s emotional characters would look like along with his identity Islands! I’m sure one will be Destiny Islands with his two best friends on it. Than his more goofy side island where he makes funny faces! since he does make a lot of funny faces growing up and throughout the games to cheer others up! Than perhaps an island of him sailing a ship because he seems to really enjoy that a lot. Imaging himself sailing the sea’s on the raft when younger and then getting Uber excited each time he’s inside of the pirates world! ❤
I think it could be more of an experience than a proper world. Everything is happening inside her head, or adapting to KH, her heart. Sora could dive into her heart to help her out. Something like she's being tainted by darkness and becoming a heartless or something an Sora helps her by using the power of waking (if he still has it) and when inside helping her he experiences all of the movie.
These videos kinda made me think Riku took the hard road in life, went too far at times, but came out a stronger, more stable person in the end accepting that he’s not perfect. Could be nice for Sora to face that too.
I feel like, for this to work, Inside Out would have to be a world that Sora returns a bunch of time in the story or, at least, more than other worlds. Like Traverse Town on KH1and Dream Drop Distance, or Twilight Town on KH2 & 358 days.
I feel like, if they did the inside out world, it would probably be best if it takes place mid- collapse of the islands of personality. A: this would give Sora lots of debris to grapple and fancy set pieces but also B: as Sora explore the islands of personality pre, mid, and post collapse, Sora could be confronted with echo's of Rileys emotions and memories. Its something I'd like to see them explore, not just for Soras emotions, but because Sora could very easily see himself reflected in riley- Riley was taken away from her old home and friends, just how Sora was swept away when darkness devoured the Island. Ever since then, he is constantly being separated from his friends, and though he holds onto his bond with Riku and Kairi strongly and keeps faith that they'll always be reunited, after so many separations and brief reunions, its not impossible that Sora might lose faith, or at least have some doubt, that it will work out this time. Sora might even, at one point, actually side with neither joy OR sadness but riley herself, since her wanting to go back home would mirror his own desires to... just be able to actually sit and have fun with his friends and not be worried about anyone getting kidnapped or threatened. that being said, the inside out world would also be a rather bittersweet world, and perhaps an omen- after all, the lesson riley learns through embracing sadness is that...sometimes things don't work out. she cant go back to her old home, and she wont see her old friends again - she has to build something new, that she has to hope will be as good or better than what she left behind. a lesson Sora might rebel against the idea of, since this whole time, the "guiding key" of his heart was always to reunite with his friends and bring people together. we know, as players, that they would never actually split up the destiny trio permanently, but for Sora, it might be a very real fear he has to come to terms with.
Inside Out wouldn’t be too bad. But I wanna see Elemental and Wreck-It Ralph as well why? If there’s one emotion that all three movies have that are paired with say Sorrow, Despair, and Fear. It’s RAGE. Anger, Ember, and Ralph all had rage. And remember the Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed are all basically living manifestations of all forms of negativity. So the movies I believe that should be in this game along with Inside out would be perfect for the problems we’re about to face in KH4 and fitting for the new enemies (or maybe the Heartless, Nobodies, or Unversed will return I don’t know) we’re about to fight

One problem: The world of Inside Out takes place entirely inside Riley’s mind. Sora has no way of getting inside her mind. My Question is: HOW IS THAT GOING TO WORK OUT!?
How about if the inside out world was the hub like traverse town but when ever sora learns a new lesson from the Disney worlds he visits a core memory is made making the islands of personality.
I mean, Sora already had face and learn to value negative emotions, that was the whole point of Re:Coded where he is tested to take ownership and understand the hurt inside of him, and he comes to the conclusion that even if carrying hurt inside him may make him feel bad, it also helps him feel alive and connected to the people he knows and for who is hurting Yes this was Data Sora, not real Sora, but the point diving into the journal was to have a safe "test run" of what would happened if Sora were to be faced with all the emotions, memories and pain that the hearts within him have experienced, as if he wasn't ready his own heart could be damaged and the fact that Data Sora passed the test means that real Sora would most likely be able to do it as well, which is what starts happening in DDD when he reconnects with Roxas, and later in KH3 with Ven and Xion
Never saw Inside Out yet but i hear good things 👍. And while this does sound interesting, it be kinda weird to base a world Sora (and possibly company) could travel to is inside a specific person inhabiting that world. That being this character Riley.
The big reason I don't think this would really work, is who is he's going to be interacting with Riley or her emotions. I mean honestly, the main story of Inside Out is a little too grounded four Kingdom Hearts.
I really liked Inside Out as a movie, and I really wish Disney would just continue doing the classic Disney worlds. NOT Pixar. Toy world was annoying and forced, same for monsters inc.
I hope it happens because Sora has some hidden emotions that he chooses not to show his friends.

These videos kinda made me think Riku took the hard road in life, went too far at times, but came out a stronger, more stable person in the end accepting that he’s not perfect. Could be nice for Sora to face that too.
Maybe he’s just more pragmatic and less idealistic than Sora, but it’s nice to think of it on a more emotional level.
I feel like, for this to work, Inside Out would have to be a world that Sora returns a bunch of time in the story or, at least, more than other worlds. Like Traverse Town on KH1and Dream Drop Distance, or Twilight Town on KH2 & 358 days.

I feel like, if they did the inside out world, it would probably be best if it takes place mid- collapse of the islands of personality.
A: this would give Sora lots of debris to grapple and fancy set pieces but also
B: as Sora explore the islands of personality pre, mid, and post collapse, Sora could be confronted with echo's of Rileys emotions and memories.
Its something I'd like to see them explore, not just for Soras emotions, but because Sora could very easily see himself reflected in riley- Riley was taken away from her old home and friends, just how Sora was swept away when darkness devoured the Island. Ever since then, he is constantly being separated from his friends, and though he holds onto his bond with Riku and Kairi strongly and keeps faith that they'll always be reunited, after so many separations and brief reunions, its not impossible that Sora might lose faith, or at least have some doubt, that it will work out this time.
Sora might even, at one point, actually side with neither joy OR sadness but riley herself, since her wanting to go back home would mirror his own desires to... just be able to actually sit and have fun with his friends and not be worried about anyone getting kidnapped or threatened.
that being said, the inside out world would also be a rather bittersweet world, and perhaps an omen- after all, the lesson riley learns through embracing sadness is that...sometimes things don't work out. she cant go back to her old home, and she wont see her old friends again - she has to build something new, that she has to hope will be as good or better than what she left behind. a lesson Sora might rebel against the idea of, since this whole time, the "guiding key" of his heart was always to reunite with his friends and bring people together.
we know, as players, that they would never actually split up the destiny trio permanently, but for Sora, it might be a very real fear he has to come to terms with.
Here's something else, even if he gets back to his home dimension, things will never truly be the same for him ever again
Inside out need to be in kh4 so that Sora can learn about emotions and learn how it works.
Inside Out wouldn’t be too bad. But I wanna see Elemental and Wreck-It Ralph as well why? If there’s one emotion that all three movies have that are paired with say Sorrow, Despair, and Fear. It’s RAGE. Anger, Ember, and Ralph all had rage. And remember the Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed are all basically living manifestations of all forms of negativity. So the movies I believe that should be in this game along with Inside out would be perfect for the problems we’re about to face in KH4 and fitting for the new enemies (or maybe the Heartless, Nobodies, or Unversed will return I don’t know) we’re about to fight

More Pixar would be a great thing in kingdom hearts. There’s going to be a sequel to the inside out coming out next year in 2024 too.
If they do it I wonder if it’s gonna show how much each wielder is feeling deep inside
Please Nomura and team, don't fumble this chance to examine Sora's emotional introspection now that he's cut off and alone 🙏🏿. Show the naysayers that he's not one-dimensional and indeed has layers ✊🏿💪🏿.

I was thinking that Kairi could explore the “Inside Out” of her mind if she were to be playable in KH4.
One problem: The world of Inside Out takes place entirely inside Riley’s mind. Sora has no way of getting inside her mind. My Question is: HOW IS THAT GOING TO WORK OUT!?
How about if the inside out world was the hub like traverse town but when ever sora learns a new lesson from the Disney worlds he visits a core memory is made making the islands of personality.

I mean, Sora already had face and learn to value negative emotions, that was the whole point of Re:Coded where he is tested to take ownership and understand the hurt inside of him, and he comes to the conclusion that even if carrying hurt inside him may make him feel bad, it also helps him feel alive and connected to the people he knows and for who is hurting
Yes this was Data Sora, not real Sora, but the point diving into the journal was to have a safe "test run" of what would happened if Sora were to be faced with all the emotions, memories and pain that the hearts within him have experienced, as if he wasn't ready his own heart could be damaged and the fact that Data Sora passed the test means that real Sora would most likely be able to do it as well, which is what starts happening in DDD when he reconnects with Roxas, and later in KH3 with Ven and Xion
Never saw Inside Out yet but i hear good things 👍. And while this does sound interesting, it be kinda weird to base a world Sora (and possibly company) could travel to is inside a specific person inhabiting that world. That being this character Riley.

The big reason I don't think this would really work, is who is he's going to be interacting with Riley or her emotions. I mean honestly, the main story of Inside Out is a little too grounded four Kingdom Hearts.
