It's so cool when a railroad takes the time and expense to restore old equipment! Wonderful to watch this rotary operating. Thanks C&TSRR and CoasterFan2015.
Hey dude! Just wanted to say thank you for coming out! It was a blast to see all y’all on our railroad! Hope you come back this summer to see the most exciting year so far! The best is yet to come!
This is really awesome ‼️ I can watch the OY EVERY DAY ‼️ IT'S ALWAYS FASCINATING TO ME TO SEE THE SNOW FLY. I KEEP REPEATING MYSELF, BECAUSE I THINK IT'S SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL ❤️👍🏽❤️👏🏾👏🏾.
Hello , It is very interesting,it entertained ,educates me,I also enjoy many landscapes. , I really like 👍🏻 trains and I really enjoy the views .❤️🇨🇦💌📮
I took that train a few years back and it was fantastic. They have an open air freight car for the photographers, and that's where I was most of the time. It chugs along probably at around 20 mph, perfect for taking pictures. They even stop and serve lunch.
WOW! I thought I never seen day. A rare steam operating snow plow engine is been restored and run again! I do hope they'll keep restore those engines for many years to come around winter time.
From photos railroads have used 6 or 7 locos to push the rotary up the grade and into the snow, particularly when the snow was almost as deep as the wheel. The last loco would be operated in reverse so when the outfit backed up a tender would not be in the lead to be easily derailed. Derailing any wheel while snow plowing is a royal pain. I can just imagine the sound of that many locos pushing for all they are worth and the roar of the rotary. A video of that would be priceless.
This was so cool. Thank you. I grew up seeing one of these snow plows parked at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. I didn't know that any of them still operated. What a cool thing to see!
I seriously need to check this line out. I've been to both the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic and the Durango and Silverton, but I haven't been to either line since I was younger. I need to see what's changed in 20 years.
I am so Happy to see the old time steam engines and to hear there wonderful noise they make and hear there old time whistles, it sounds so Good! I just love these old trains….❤😊😊
I enjoyed it. I've always been a railroad enthusiasts very partial to railroads and and also big rigs I used to drive them. And also work for the railroad. And heavy equipment
Our local regional railroad, The New Brunswick Southern Railroad uses a Jordan Spreader on the line from Saint John to McAdam, New Brunswick. This spring the Canadian Pacific Railroad return to Saint John after being gone for almost 40 years. Corporate ideas change.
Omg 😆 such an awesome machine, wish this vehicle more power and strength in its wonderful and amazing new journeys. Love ❤️ all those trains 🚂, love you guys, keep doing what your doing, best wishes moving forward and many more!!!🥰🥰😇😇😇😇🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thanks for sharing this video. I've seen videos like this before. I would have loved to been with you on this trip. Would have loved to see that in person. Thank you again.
Mike, all your videos are excellent but you've really outdone yourself with this one. Absolutely amazing winter railroading and brilliantly captured here.
My real name is Michael McCluskey. I'm a fan of railroads and trains and steam locomotives most all of my life. In my early years I spent most of my time out in rural areas of Brookpark and Middleburgh Heights from 1959 to 1965. In 1965 my parents moved to the west side of Cleveland. It took to hopping freight trains to go on adventures as I hated the city life.
Devon Ray Hillary If you think this is cool, you should see Union Pacific’s Rotary Snowplow train on Donner Pass during record snowfall. It’s really something to watch. I’m sure Mike here has a video somewhere of the Donner Pass snowplow.
Great video! First time I have ever seen a K-36 wheel slip. They usually make mountain railroading look easy. I wonder if ALCO ever looked into installing turbo-electric drive on their rotary snowplows? The technology did exist in 1923.

Oh baby they slipping and the stack talk from those engines...damn beautiful ❤ they are definitely working on the incline pushing through the snow ❤❤
Oh my gosh, those lonely whistles as they headed over the trestle...... and that rhythmic chugging sound, I love it!!!
Glad that some part of the world still uses steam engines
2 are kept for Donner Pass area
OUSTANDING, Thanks for posting!
Steam power is a stroke of genius and STILL functioning after a hundred years! A thing of beauty and asight to behold! 😮
An absolutely beautiful video. Thank you again!!
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome shots. Always wanted to see what mountain railroading looked like 100 yrs ago in color HD
I grew up as a young boy in the 1940s with steam I absolutely loved this video.
Legendary footage. Glad I found the original

Happy that C&TS Rotary OY is back in operation at the Cumbres & Toltec.

Amazing shots! Wou were in perfect position to catch the wheel slip as the train struggled up the grade! I thought she was going to get stuck!
Absolutely brilliant, Mike, many thanks for making this video!!
Very cool! Love it when the two locos slip and have to start over! Amazing video! Thanks!

I seriously need to check this line out. I've been to both the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic and the Durango and Silverton, but I haven't been to either line since I was younger. I need to see what's changed in 20 years.
cool video. Lots of pollution just to clear some inches of snow. Glad we’ve gotten cleaner and hopefully will keep getting more that way!
I've been on that line but never in winter. Boy, what a show! Great footage.
Great video, fantastic scenery and rotary action. Cool wheel slip audio! Thanks for sharing!
I am so Happy to see the old time steam engines and to hear there wonderful noise they make and hear there old time whistles, it sounds so Good! I just love these old trains….❤😊😊

Yup, things change over time. Thanks for commenting, Charles.
@CoasterFan2105 A Charger owned by CalTrans is also numbered 2105. So an 2105 will still exist after the Coaster one is retired.

Narrator has a soothing voice.
It’s pretty impressive how they restored that in under a few months.
I feel like you would know the answer to this-what are the regulations on a steam rotary? Is it treated like a locomotive where it must have a 1472?
@@blackbirdgaming8147 I honestly don't know, that's a good question.
Mike, all your videos are excellent but you've really outdone yourself with this one. Absolutely amazing winter railroading and brilliantly captured here.
Excellent video!
Thank you, Paul!
Nice work, Mike! The narration is great!

Fascinating, thanks for this !
This never gets old to watch.
Brings back memories from that nostalgic DVD Marathon of Steam Volume 1 Part 2. Good on ya mate.
Sorry about the typo. I meant Volume 1.
I finally found a snowblower worthy of upper midwestern winters! hahah
Fantastic coverage! I like that you provided a little bit of background info in the beginning as to how the photo charter worked.
Very emotional to see and hear at full volume and base! This needs to be maintained before extinction!
Awesome video!
Thanks so much!
Great homeschool lesson for my preschoolers! They were mesmerized.
FABULOUS! Thank you so much
Just bought one of these for my ho scale layout, just cause they're cool.

Unbelievable! I never seen any snow plow trains in the USA.
You don't see them all that often in the US! Thanks for watching!
Devon Ray Hillary If you think this is cool, you should see Union Pacific’s Rotary Snowplow train on Donner Pass during record snowfall. It’s really something to watch. I’m sure Mike here has a video somewhere of the Donner Pass snowplow.
U.P still uses it's Rotary Snow Plow in Wyoming when the snow gets serious. These things were built to blow snow mountains.
Complimenti!!!! Bravissimi! Quanta neve
Great narration and filming.
Fantastic video, very impressive!
the only one I've every seen in operation (online because we've never visited a place with a functional rotary in winter) was WP&YR rotary number 1
Beautiful work as always, Mike. Glad to finally meet you. Watch for my article in Narrow Gauge World! Bill Jolitz
Awesome video! Is the tank car for supplying the rotary with steam water?
0:25
What is that strange contraption?
Me: you didn't see the title then

Awesome...just awesome .🤗
Did you know the steam locomotive 3801 is fixed?
Dose the Nevada northern railway operate a rotary snow plow?
Cool video. Thanks.
Nice video! What a rare thing to see.
