Bright sunny conditions made this morning session really difficult, I’m not sure if the flylife or conditions made the fishing slow, you can decide in the comments!

As you saw they will definitely take a lure during the mayfly.
I was on Corrib about 16 years ago during the mayfly, we were finding it hard to get them on thw dry fly as they were taking loads around us but ignoring our flies. We started trolling tazzies and in an afternoon had something like 30 trout, it was amazing.

Our club does mayfly competition all though may, so if you plan on entering a fish, there can’t be any spinning tackle in the boat. 😂 so it’s a delicate balance. I like trying the fly in May, might not always catch one, but it’s one hell of a challenge. 😄

I know you stress the importance of wetting the hands and after catching a few trout over the last year I cannot agree more. They must be one of the hardest fish to release.
