- With news that Hurricane Florence winds could be prolonged due to stalling, which also greatly increases our rain (and flood risk), we make the difficult decision to evacuate Myrtle Beach. We're heading to Georgia.

The more I watch this channel, the more I hear that Chuggaa is the real MVP. The world needs more kind people like him. I hope you and your family will be ok, and that everything is alright when you return.

I know how annoying unsolicited advice can be. Can I interest y’all in a hurricane story?
We stayed during Irma because we had literal gallons of water stored up, cans and cans of food, we’re on the second floor, and my husband is quite a capable outdoorsman. My only concern was if a tree were to fall on us, or if we were to have a tornado pop up. The night it hit us, my family was fast asleep, but I had convinced myself I needed to stay awake in case one of those tall, skinny, bendy AF pine trees crashed through our home. I stayed up all night, and when my husband woke up and stood in front of me the next morning, I hallucinated that he was stretching up toward the ceiling (I don’t do well with sleep deprivation😅). I said to him, “you’re getting so tall.” And literally passed out.
Anywaaaaay I’m glad you and your family is safe and had a place to stay! Try and make the best of it! Evacuation Vacation? Ok I’m done.

With how unpredictable the hurricane is, I'm glad you guys evacuated. Emile is like the most generous person in the entire world haha.

This just shows how much of a good person/friend Emile is too Stephen. Not because he gives them these amazing gifts, but because he opened his house up too his friends and their family in a time of crisis.

That might be the hardest parts of evacuating, honestly.
Shiny Misty I can’t imagine. My house is everything to me, I can’t blame people for not wanting to just pack up and leave.
Emily's generosity of gifts has been amazing to see in the past.
But I will admit. This kind of generosity got me to cry a little bit. Just making sure everyone's safe and he's willing to do this for you guys is absolutely amazing.
Thankfully, the hurricane slowed dawn further then anyone thought, and was a category 1 almost immediately after landfall
I know right, I am so glad it has slowed down, I live south of Stephen and Mal, So I have also been scared.
Emile is that friend you love to have, he truly is one of a kind. Wish I had a friend like that.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, stay safe. Your safety is more important than anything materialistic things. It is incredible that Emile is letting you stay with him, further solidifying his greatness! I feel awful that you have to do this, but it’s for your own good! I'm glad that you were able to get to safety. You're absolutely right, evacuation is one of the toughest things to do. At least you were able to plan and weigh all options to make that decision.
I recently had to evacuate my home due to wildfires in California (specifically, the Carr Fire), and at times, there's little/no warning. It seems like a year for unpredictable natural disasters......Stay safe, everyone!

i live in houston and i wish i would have left i have about 2 feet of water literally less then 5 feet from my front door before luckily it started to recede
I don't think it's as bad as Harvey was. It doesn't look like it will cause as much damage, both in property and in life. I live around the Houston area on a third floor and we still got flooded to shit. Florence is still bad though.

Best of luck to you, Mal, your parents, and the kitties. I'm glad you're smart enough to analyze the reports and decide to evacuate after taking all precautions, and hoping for the best. This is how you survive. You're a smart guy Stephen. And I hope your time with Emile is a good time (even if it is unnerving to know all your stuff is at risk). Be sure to get a good view of the walk-in monster closet for us again. Maybe that's where you'll be sleeping if the couches are full.

I was a bit worried yesterday and kept checking the channel to see if a new vlog had gone up. Glad to hear you guys got somewhere safe, bless Emile for taking so many people in on such a short notice, and hope everything stays safe.
I'm glad to see that all of you are safe. I remember Hurricane Sandy back in back in 2012. I live in the northern area of New Jersey. We didn't get hit too hard. Heavy rain, wind was a bit on the high side. No damage to our house, but our power was out for two weeks. Lines around the block at gas stations, very cold every night, downed trees and power lines creating road blocks, etc. Not a fun time.
Oddly enough, the last TH-cam video I watched before I lost power was one of your vlogs. I can't remember which one it was for the life of me, but I do remember that you two were living in the second apartment at the time.
Anyways, sorry to gush about myself. Just wanted you to know that you can make it through this. Best wishes!

It's hard to watch from a distance as people you care about are in a potentially dangerous situation. I'm glad you guys decided to leave, but I'm so sorry you have to live with that anxiety for the next few days while you wait to see what happens.

I am so thankful that you all are safe! Though it has weakened to a cat 1, Florence could still cause problems like flooding and isolated tornadoes. Things can be replaced, you and your family cannot. You all made a smart decision to leave. Praying for a peaceful return home.

We’ve been having our own brand of crazy here in Massachusetts as a bunch of houses spontaneously exploded last night. It’s kind of screwed things up for us and all that and I’ve got to be honest I kind of put y’all in the back of my head.

I had to evacuate during Harvey and it was so stressful and scary. And you guys had many more things to worry about than I did, like cats and equipment, so I know it was probably twice as stressful. I am glad you guys are safe and I will be keeping you in my thoughts!

I am couple days late... but I'm glad you all got out when you felt like it was right to do so. That kind of decision can be the hardest thing you can deal with. As someone from the Midwest, I have no idea what it's like to possibly have to evacuate due to a hurricane. I'm glad that Emile helped you guys by letting you stay at his place. I hope your house stayed safe, but you guys are honestly more important.

I was north of you guys and my hometown was hit pretty hard by Florence. I’m from Wilmington, and I chose to stay. We had a lot of people get really bad flood damage and we lost huge trees that I never thought would get damaged at my house. It was crazy. I’m glad you all chose to evacuate.
We evacuated from Pawleys on the same day, and also with two kitties, and also to inland Georgia. It was adorable to watch our kitty Sunshine walk around the car trying to figure out where the heck he was. He was incredibly brave until the windshield wipers turned on. Didn't leave his carrier again after that. We then had a full blowout on a tire of the car my dad was driving less than 10 miles from the hotel because of course we did. I'm still glad we evacuated, and I'm relieved that y'all did too. Hope our houses are fine when we get back!

Good call leaving Myrtle Beach if you're that close. Classes where I go to school were cancelled yesterday and today to allow people to prepare off campus, but our current location likely won't see much of this. Even so, I go any further east than I am right now.

its been a bit of time since i have left for a hurricane but i rememeber coming home from ike and just seeing my house wrekced. Its just another part of life. it sucks but I wish you both the best.
Evacuating, no matter how not bad or bad the hurricane is, SUCKS. You have to pick up all your stuff, leave your HOME, and wonder if it will be in one piece when you get back. It just sucks so I’m sorry you have to go through that. Stay safe! Try to have some fun with Emile!

I pulled up a live hurricane map when I was watching this and I got scared after seeing the name 'Myrtle Beach' popping up just a little bit southwest of the swirling clouds. I really hope your house will be fine. Evacuating must be hell. Good luck from the Netherlands!
