As you have said if the shaft from the abyss is not plugged properly by the church then the release of the locusts is inevitable. Extremely sad situation across the world. Most modern mentions of the Jerusalem siege avoid talking about the details of it. Unfortunately, that gives many church goers/Bible readers the false impression the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 apply to a future event in Jerusalem. But when you read the terrible details of what happened inside and outside the walls, you really begin to see Matthew 24 come to light. And while researching Roman history I did find the Vespasian legions surrounded the city but then pulled back for several days. This gave time for those who remembered Jesus's warning to flee the city. The reason they pulled back is not clear but it happened. The Zealots were really insane IMHO, just off the charts crazy.
After researching the siege of Jerusalem I too was convinced of Matthew 24’s fulfillment. You’re right, most churches if at all mention the siege will give it maybe a sentence or two and move on and never go into the detail. The evidence is right there. Also, the portion you mentioned about the legions backing off is recorded in Josephus’ The Wars of the Jews 2:19:7 regarding Cestius Gallus’ retreat from the city (fulfilling Matthew 24:15-16). Eusebius of Caesarea establishes this fact in his History of the Church 3:5:3-4. This occurred in AD 66, just before the war went fully into effect in AD 67.

Revelation 20 mentions that the devil was hurled into the lake of fire where he will be tormented for ever. If that is also a part of fulfilled prophecy, are we to understand that Satan is no longer our adversary or is there something additional to understand about this. I know it will be a long time before you get to some of these scriptures but i have been wanting to understand this along with many other questions about this revelation subject. Is there a book that you would recommend that is inline with were you are going in this series?? Thank you again for what you have shared and revealed up to this point!!
Good question. Thank you! Revelation 20 says that the final doom of Satan comes at the end of an extended period of time. We are living in that extended period. Satan is 'bound' in that his power is no match for the Gospel. Where the Gospel is not heard, or where it is ejected, darkness comes back in and Satan gains influence. Our task as Christians is to beat back the gates of Hell with the weapons of our warfare, which includes the Gospel, which is the power of God for salvation.

I opposed closing the church then, and I would continue to oppose it now. There are places in the world where a gathering of Christians for worship is punishable by death. Nevertheless, Christians continue to gather in obedience to Christ.

Excellent teachings Bruce. That being said, jumping off a cliff and muzzling your face and taking repeated jabs in your person are not tenable comparisons; thus wisdom is not found in cdc guidelines. I would point to Matthew 15 and the purity laws/rituals that the Pharisees had mandated as a better comparison which clearly Jesus rejected. Something to consider. Keep up the great work! Not G 5207 strong's 'Son's' Genesis 6:2 "That the son's of God having seen the daughters of men..." Not the messengers or angels but son's. Little details like this matter.

The Roman soldiers were a strong force they had gold helmets (like crowns of gold) and on their gold helmets they had what looked like womens hair, plus they had breastplates of iron. I think John was describing the Roman army (soldiers) and not like you say the zealots, but I could be wrong. 🙏
You are correct. Some Roman soldiers also wore helmets with a mask that looks like a person’s face that can be lifted up and pulled down. Also, in Revelation 9:17 John describes horses whose heads were like the head of a lion. The helmets (or Chamfron) that horses wore in fact had an engraving of a lion on them.

For what it's worth, I actually accept Dr. Heiser's 'divine council' views of Genesis 6, Genesis 11, Deut. 32, Psalm 82, etc. In my opinion that approach to this particular text raises far more problems than it solves.

This Revelation is like actual History written in the reverse order.
So where are we now in the book of Revelation or we even in the book?

The Hebrew of Job 1:6 is 'ben,' or 'son' (Strong's #1121). Thus it is rendered in the NKJV, ESV, etc.

We need to be disciples of ou6 culture that is proclaim gospel unto transformed lives leading a transformed culture.
