After watching the video several times and starting over several times, I went straight to the pattern. I used 2 strands of yarn and a size G hook. in the pattern where it says X's 2, that means increase in that stitch. I used the video as a reference, following the written pattern was easier, its important for the gauge to be correct 10cm = 17 stitches. My hat came out awesome!
Love every one of your videos. I havent picked up needles on over 15 years and you've got me running to walmart every couple of days. The way youvtake the time to show each step so clearly and articulately, really helps the old newbies haha. Great stuff, thanks :) (i also havent touched a pk of smokes in a week, which is why i started watxhing your videos!!)
Mandie, thank you so so much for writing me! Your comment means so much to me. I am so glad I was able to help you, and that is the best news about you quitting smoking! I am so very proud of you, keep up the good work, and keep in touch! :)
I know this is an older video now, but, looking at the ravalry pattern.. She uses an aran weight tweed wool. Aran is basically a medium 4, but the wool would hold the structure. I think your added comment of using 1 strand is valid.. Or drop to a size 3 yarn and use 2 strands of it.
Up to round 9, as a beginner it was frustrating not because of the pattern but my inexperience. Kept losing count so I made a chart that showed each stitch position. It looked like: row 7, which is 4 sets then an increase, 1-2 3-4 5-6 7-8 Inc 9-10 11-12 13-14 15-16 etc Baby steps but it made me understand that the chain stitches are all the even numbers. Look for the spaces between the single crochets even between the increase single crochets. This was hard for me initially but then the light bulb went off and I could see them. Yep I am so happy that I was persistent, got to learn. The chart does not take long and solved my problems. Oh make sure that you look for the real first space to start first stitch otherwise you will have too many stitches. I hope this helps.
Hehehe I made hats Ike this in the 1970's and 1980's and here it is back in vouge for a while, somI am making a few again, thanks for the happy remonders and glad to see reativity is stil aroind and thriving.
Cool. I just started learning crochet to make stuff for my first child. I started making a black and grey striped beanie for a 1 year old, but I continued the increasing rounds too far. I ended making a slightly oversized adult hat and then restarted the increase rounds to make a flat brim. Ended up being a versatile mistake, can be shaped to a fedora or a bucket hat. Crochet is a lot of fun.
If the hat is to big only go to 80 sts. that's to roll 11 and 12 instead of 90 sts roll 14. If it is to small you can increase with making a roll 15 to 100 sts ECT.
Aran weight yarn is slightly larger than worsted weight. In countries other than USA aran is worsted weight yarn. The reason your hat came out big is because you doubled your yarn. It is true if you used a size #6 yarn or doubled worsted weight it will hold it's shape better because the stitches are tighter but you'd need to use a smaller hook to get the gauge.
l love this stitch but I can't get it... your explanation after the first ten stitches escapes me...You said the next should be 20 but when I get around I am at like 12 or 13 stitches only... then my work starts to curl like a dolly??? Any suggestions?
This is great just pulled up the pattern last night and was going to start it today!! Do you think you could make the brim wider by adding one or 2 more increase rows to the brim? Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Thanks for a great tutorial :)
Awesome! I hope it works out for you! I think that would work! You might have to skip a few stitches so it doesn't make a wave. But what I love about crochet is that it's so easy to pull it out and start over! :) Let me know how it turns out!
In shaping the crown does row 1 only go from xpoint to xpoint in diagram 3 for rows 1-7? Using a slip stitch after the number of sc's and repeat till the next xpoint?
Hello. I am trying to read the pattern attached. What does mean: with MC and then they describe the yarn. Lol. Trying to understand since I am from Venezuela. :). Ty! :)
Hi i love this one very much and i watched this video so many time but i dont understand just after rows 5 how i have to do until rows 14. pls teach me
There's a lot to explain because they're all different, but you're just increasing each row by 10. Did you download the written pattern? it will tell you how to do it :)
In Ralvery it’s asking for me to purchase the pattern. It would be nice if you showed the entire thing because I waisted a lot of time working on what you showed but now I’m stuck….
Hai, I'd like to ask… Is this fedore hat model suitable for man ? Adult man … Please kindly your sugestion before I try this pattern Thanks in advance :)
I have always understood that a Fedora hat is uni-sex, for both man or woman. Only difference is that men wear the black, grey, or brown colors of masculine colors. And ladies (in general) wear the white or other feminine bright colors. Yes, its a hat for everyone 😊
I'm following the pattern exactly and I seem to be either short or over the amount of stitches at the end of each round. Do you have any ideas of why this is happening? I'm using an F hook and I'm doubling up my yarn, by the way.
It could be because you're doing an extra stitch at the end. Do you put a scrap yarn where you do your first sc, and then go around the hat to do a full circle, then you see the yarn and know where to end.
Suerte.
You have to follow along with the written pattern. I can't show every step or the video would be so long. I just made sure to show you what you need to know to be success at finishing the project
This is true but I got lost and didn’t think the whole pattern was flat! Where is written pattern? Your voice is so soothing, I hope you do other videos!

Hi Christine,
I love this hat, it's soooo cute. Do u think it can be knitted rather than crocheted?
It is so cute! I think I'm going to try to make it again. You probably could..
In shaping the crown does row 1 only go from xpoint to xpoint in diagram 3 for rows 1-7? Using a slip stitch after the number of sc's and repeat till the next xpoint?
Have been looking for the written instructions but is no longer available on Ravelry, is it anywhere else?
Oh I am from New York US, so our measurements are in inches.
Hello. I am trying to read the pattern attached. What does mean: with MC and then they describe the yarn. Lol. Trying to understand since I am from Venezuela. :). Ty! :)
16:30 -- and now should I skip the next st? Because it is 2 ch there and if I skip, won't the brim go narrow? Or should I knit between these 2?
Do you have a pattern for a baby size?
these tutorials are very helpful thank you!

Wow que bonito, no me imagine que hubiera sombrero de crochet, te quedó muy bonito!! Gracias por compartir tus grandes virtudes!
What size is the finished hat?
Yeees! ty4this video. Now i can be classy as my classmates.
Your yarn was too big - I started a similar situation, but made contact with the designer and she helped me get the correct yarn.
What size is it?!
What size did she say to use?
And what did the designer tell you about the correct yarn 🧶. 🤔
I can not get the pattern. So where can I go to get it now?
In Ralvery it’s asking for me to purchase the pattern. It would be nice if you showed the entire thing because I waisted a lot of time working on what you showed but now I’m stuck….
Hey, so it used to be free. I guess the designer chose to change it. I'm sorry

Belíssimos,maginifico, lindíssimo.
Where do u get the instructions from?
I was wondering if you can felt this hat?
Yes, if you use wool that felts.
I found it on her blog more details!!
Hi Con you chat shutoff the Music. is very hard to here you. Thank you.
Yes, please!
The pattern isn't difficult, but the shaping is. It would have been nice if you showed how to do the shaping.
oh i saw a post on your blog that the hat turn out too big .. is that the one with the i hook or g hook ?
The i hook. I wouldn't double your yarn, that was my problem.
Hello my dear if its possible to show the scheme of crochet, im really confused %)) thank you alot
The pattern is not available any more. It is frustrating because I have already made rows 1 to 5.
Sooo talented.. just.. wow.
Great video. wow. :)
Use one strand for hat. 2 for brim.
Ok I will pick up the crochet hook again
My hat looks like a beanie. How do I make it look like a fadora hat??
If your crochet hook or knitting needles squeak or make a strange noise similar to that. It means the yarn is on too tight
What kind of yarn you used?? I so excite & bless... I am making right now!!!
Confusing can you do a video for a beginner?
Pena ñ ter a segunda parte
No sé inglés y después de la tercer ronda no entiendo como continuar ya que no muestra y los subtítulos están en inglés. Una pena !
