Just a little overview of bolts used on Vintage Chicago Schwinn Stingrays and most models. *Rear chaingaurd screw Pan head self taping 10-32x3/8 *front chainguard & fender screw Screws- 1/4" 20 x 1/2" long Washers- 1/4", star
On the front chain guard bolt and nut which way did Chicago mount the head of the bolt? Right side or left side? Or was it just the person who put it in that day deciding which direction it should go?
@Steve-bf2go I think pretty much all chainguards I've taken off, the head and lock washer was facing the front of the chainguard (right) and the nut on backside. I checked my chainguard pile and the lockwasher marks are on the front. And all my bikes were the same way. So safe to say. That was the factory way.
Just picked up a set of Park tools. Ready for some wrenching on the Schwinn bolts!
