Thank you so much for this video. My goal today was to piece a block that measures 6.5 inches. Im not a quilter or piecer, but I can follow directions. However, no one has ever taught me the fundamentals you teach in this video. I guess everyone assumes you just know the fundamentals. Thank you for teaching me. Success! I now have a block that measures 6.5 square with very little trimming.
After making a LOT of quilts, I still have trouble getting all the seams to align through the whole quilt. There are always a few here and there that are off. My cutting is solid, I think, and I was measuring those seams so I didn't know what I was doing wrong. Now I know! This video is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm going to practice on a mini quilt and see if I can improve my accuracy. Thank you so much!
Thank you for all this great info I am a beginner quilter but am still doing small projects. Like table runners, place mats, etc. yout information has greatly helped me.
Such Great advice, especially about the sewing the square on the rectangle and where to sew it as well as the pinning of the seams for accuracy. Always new ways to learn and improve!!
I found that Magic Sizing does a great job after piecing in getting seams flatter. I happen to be an el cheapo...accordingly, I make my own starch and use a high volume sprayer. It gives a very fine mist, putting the product down evenly without making it wet.
Great video. Thank you Gudrun for taking the time to share these tips. Good reminders for long time sewers and excellent for beginners. I have your Aurora quilt kit and can’t wait to start it and will keep in mind all of your tips. Lucy L.
If I press my Jelly Roll and I don’t use all of the strips, next time I presume that I will have to do all the pressing plus All Press?? I am a newbie! Can we sew a full baby quilt before changing the needle?? My computer sewing machine has a number to settle to 1/4 of a inches. Can I trust that settle???
i noticed that at 4:41 the circular markings on the ruler almost completely covered the line that the fabric is on. this is kinda ironic because she's talking about ruler and mat lines conflicting with each other.
Thank you for the tips! I struggle to get my blocks to come out accurately even tho each individual component is exactly the right size when I start to assemble it. Wondering what size needles you use?
Thank you so much, I am a new quilter and really appreciate people like you who unselfishly share their knowledge.
Sage advice by a seasoned pro. Excellent no nonsense tutorial ….❤
Great information. As a new quilter I now know why I have the problems that I do. Thanks for this video!

When using the stripology ruler, do you put the ruler on the zero and trim and then leave it there and count the spots or 2 1/2 or whatever?
yes

What brand is your mat? I've not seen one before that has no lines.
It’s the back side of an Olfa Mat.
Thank you very informative, the quilt behind you makes it look like you've got horns lol
Thank you. I never get to good to learn.

I wonder why the video is out of focus.
I need more pressing instructions, she went too fast...
