    _Kakusei Shikai_ (覚聖死界) = *"Awakening"* [literally, "Sacred Awakening: Death Zone"]
    ⬆️ Here, they take the _sei_ from _kakusei_ (覚醒, awakening) and replace it with 聖, also pronounced _sei_ (from 聖なる _seinaru,_ "holy/sacred/divine").
    _Kakusei Zesshikai_ (覚聖絶死界) = *"Death's Awakening"* [literally, "Sacred Awakening: Absolute Death Zone"]
    ⬆️ This is the "hyper bullet-time" mode with the constantly respawning revenge bullets.

      @@TheElectricUnderground Yeah, Japanese anime/manga writers and videogame developers love using this kind of wordplay, where they take a word that already exists in Japanese and swap out the _kanji_ characters to give the word a brand new extra meaning based on the context. Case in point, Queen Larsa, the final (and true final) boss of CAVE's _Mushihime-sama Futari._
      After Reco defeated Aki, Larsa's son and the True Last Boss of the first _Mushihime-sama,_ Larsa was completely blinded by rage and a thirst for vengeance. When Aki's brother Palm went to Reco's side (as the second playable character), the queen furiously turned on him, saying that she had plenty of other subjects to replace him! In _MushiFutari,_ Larsa is given the moniker of 鬼死母神 _Kishibojin._ The original term "kishibojin" (鬼子母神) means "a goddess of children," but CAVE replaced the 子 _shi_ meaning "child" with 死 _shi_ meaning "death." Now Queen Larsa has become a *Goddess of Juvenile Murder;* she was willing to kill her last surviving son just to avenge her firstborn (which makes no damn sense, but hey, that's CAVE for you)!!
      *This level of beautiful and clever wordplay just DOES NOT EXIST in English, and I'm SO JEALOUS...* 😠

    When my friend introduced me to Cave games, I imported all the ones that could be played on a NA 360. This is one of my favorites out of my 360 collection, possibly because I was better at this than the others. I have the Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets combo too, and while I’m trash at both, I absolutely love MMP.

    Your channel is a shmup sanctuary! I’m currently working on Mushi 1 and EspRaDe 1cc’s, they’re definitely manageabe after some training. I can’t wait to try Galuda 2 on Switch as soon as it releases, I just don’t understand why they’re skipping the first entry...

      Thanks so much! I would guess because Galuda 1 is a ps2 port (a fantastic one btw) and the ps2 is probably harder to move over to the switch and modern consoles then a 360 like galuda 2. That being said, we do need to see the ps2 galuda port on modern platforms, the arrange is awesome.

    If you clear EspGaluda 2 Arcade/360 Mode (continues ok) you unlock OMAKE = Bonus mode. IMO this is probably the single best tool for learning how to dodge complex patterns, as it lets you tackle any phase of the game in almost total Kakusei mode. All the patterns, at 50% speed. That is a big bonus.

    Mark, you absolute legend you! :) There are two reasons as to why I feel your channel on the topic of shmups is the absolute best. Reason one: you have this kind of "every skill level is welcome" vibe going on where you're including everyone and present the genre in a really good, clear, way even though you are a very good player and certainly could have gone the fully initiated hardcore way. I appreciate that! Reason two: You seem to have a way to always stay one step ahead of me as to what videos could be useful. Everytime I'm stumped over something you have a whole analysis video covering the game in question, Espgaluda 2 being my latest but far from first example. Perhaps it's partly because of your patreon voted topics that helps you focus on what's generally going to be asked, but even so you do a tremendous job gathering information and compiling it down to an understandable form. I'm learning so much from every one of your videos, it's great. Thank you!

    Espgaluda 2 is one of my favourite cave games. So underrated and for some reason people think its really difficult compared to other cave games ? I'm not sure why as I'd say Ketsui/DOJ are much harder.

    I don’t agree at all that Espgaluda is a beginner friendly game. The Alice stage plus the long final boss fight make this game more difficult than Deathsmiles, DaiFukkatsu or Mushi Original. Those are much more beginner friendly games than Espgaluda. I even found Progear easier to clear than Espgaluda. I’m not sure why people keep saying this. Espgaluda is a masterpiece though, the bullet time mechanic is genius, and the soundtrack rocks!

    Mushi Original: 15
    Espgaluda 16
    Futari Original 16
    Espgaluda II 22
    Then like at the top you have Futari Ultra at 44 and DOJ 2 ALL at 45.

    For instance.. Can I get an fpga mister for sdoj when it gets dumped?

I tested it once and I noticed no difference in the difficult compare to the other CAVE games like Dodonpachi/Ketsui or Mushihimesama (Maybe, I'm just too bad to notice it. I can't even notice any difference between DOJ White and Black Lable). Especially the final boss, when he started to absorb your hyper shot to heal himself, made me quit the first try of the game.

    Just to note : Galuda II on Xbox is NOT a good port of the game, everyone serious about the game (S-L, Palgork, etc) will tell you the same thing : wrong movement speed, wrong slowdowns, wrong gems given and so on. Very very far from arcade perfect

    • @TheElectricUnderground
      @TheElectricUnderground  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I didn't realize this, I hear the port recommended so often and I haven't really heard much about the slowdown issues or anything. That's a tough one then as it's probably not that well emulated in mame I imagine.

    • @Prickly_Angler
      @Prickly_Angler 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheElectricUnderground It all depends on what you're looking for, some people enjoy DP and DDP's 32 bit ports a lot despite the fact that they're very far from AC perfect. ESP Galuda II on Xbox is probably great, it has tons of content, the Yagawa Black Label, etc, but it's just not AC perfect. Cave SH3's games didn't have good emulation for a long time, but word is that is it has gotten A LOT better recently. Yami had some trouble with Pink Sweets's emulation and Plasmo told him fans had made patches for pretty much every Cave SH3 shmup. Don't know the details but from what I understood they all run pretty well nowadays (with correct slowdown and everything) with the right set-up :)
