I went out today, it was terrible, got a few fish but my line kept freezing and same with the level wind on my reel, but I'm glad I went because I had to save a duck that was tangled up in someone's fishing line that they left in a tree
Man this is by far the video to help me find bass in the winter and trust me I’ve watched many. Brother thank you very much. Awesome channel! My absolute favorite channel. Keep up the good work.
Question Tyler, in small to mid size ponds, for a shore angler, usually not creek fed, lots of grass, would you have any tips for winter fishing in that kind of small lake or pond?
Great video! I’ll be heading out to Tennessee 1/1/21 to visit friends and do as much bass fishing as possible! I will definitely refer back to this video before I hit the lakes.., Tims Ford, Center Hill, & Chicamauga 🎣👍
BassFishingHQ Yes! I’ve just finished marking spots on Tims Ford with Navionics.... I’ll most likely be throwing small swimbaits, blade baits, jerkbaits, drop shot, Neko & finesse jigs.... 🎣👍
Great video. This video is spot on. I have noticed bass along staging areas and along the creek channel. However, sometimes getting them to bite has been difficult. What is recommended to use to catch them?
I am actually getting ready to do a Lure video that is all about cold water. However, a subtle crankbait, like a Rapala Shad Rap, is going to be my first option, if that doesn't work I will slow down with a T-Rig Tube or Jig and creep it down the creek channel banks!
Tyler I know this is like 4 years old, but I have a question. I live on a highland reservoir in Tennessee. What methods do we use here to catch winter bass. My club shuts down and I want to keep fishing. Thanks I hope you see this.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge in your videos. When you show bass moving from the backs of creeks into the main lake, how long is this taking them? One day? One week? Thanks
I think that really just depends on the weather and where you are located in the country. Up north it probably happens a lot quicker because the weather changes quicker. Some fish are gonna remain on the deeper creek channel swings throughout the winter
@@BassFishingHQ thanks again. Yeah I’m in Western NY so it’s getting cold and they’re definitely moving slower...and they may already be in their winter spots.
Perfect timing for me. I fish a reservoir that has mostly largemouth but does have a smaller population of small mouth. I intend to target the smallmouths in the coming winter months and hope this helps locating them in my home reservoir in Texas.
I really need to make a pond video around this. I grew up fishing the pond in my backyard and I can say that the best lure to use during the winter was a drop shot with a 1/4 oz weight and a small straight tail worm. Work it very slow and fish it in the deepest part of the pond. Especially if there is some cover like a burshpile in the deep water. Hope this helps
@@BassFishingHQ This helps me. My landlord asked me to catch the bass someone planted in her pond. They eat the little fish she planted and the frogs. Thanks for being so involved with your fans.
@@BassFishingHQ Would navionics take a suggestion from you? New Melones depth varies by hundreds of feet. It would be great to be able to input the water level and have the map reflect it.
What about bank fishing? We don't have sonar

Thanks for specifying "Winter"...many videos never mention water temps which is critical. Great job!
If my grandfather had taken me bass fishing when I was kid during the winter I highly doubt it would've of been a passion of mine for the next 30yrs.
Well I guess it just depends on how many fat bass you caught lol but you could be right
Man one of the best video out. Your videos are helping me to become a better angler.
Thank you. Someday, compile these into a course and sell the DVD.

Great video, thanks!
Tyler, love the video. Thanks!
Amazing video! Added to favorites. Do you have similar videos for other major fishing seasons? Pre spawn, spawn, post spawn, summer, fall?
Yes I do. I have a Fall and Post Spawn one. I plan on doing the full line up this year. Thanks for watching!
Very informative. Thank you.
Nice! Needed this, thank you!
Great video! I’ve really come to like bluff fishing the last few years. Even in the summer, they seem to always hold at least a few fish.
thx
Are you on Dale hallow lake in Tennessee.
thanks for an awesome educational and instruction video. Keep it up
Thank you Doug!
Good Video. Very details.
Glad it was helpful!

My landlord asked me to catch the bass that someone planted in her pond. I’d like to catch ‘em before summer algae clogs the pond again.

You should be able to find the same patterns on those lakes!

@@stevencaldwell838 that sounds perfect!
Very good info. I already put my boat to sleep for the winter 🐟. Keep the video’s coming 👍🎣
Thanks Ike, I am gonna try my best to keep them coming!
Great content Ty thanks
Would like to see a video on this topic for northern natural lakes.
I can plan on doing that in the future!
They have yet to install bluff walls on my below sea level north Texas lake.

I'm in the south and water temps always get below 50 degrees lol??

how do you find diagrams of lakes like you have in this video
webapp.navionics.com/
Click on that link and then you can find the lake you are looking for. Works best on a desktop. They also have an app

Where do they go in the cold water let’s think there in the cold water
Good informative video. Just lose the annoying music.
I am sorry you didn't like the music my friend. Thanks for watching though
Bass are cold blooded creatures so they go nowhere to '' warm up ''.
Or they’re hunting big bucks lol
Thanks for the content
