- "The Happy Reindeer" was a Christmas hit ( no.37 on Billboard Hot 100 Chart) in 1959 and credited by a fictional group of Santa Claus' reindeers, named Dancer, Prancer, and Nervous.
I found this a very cute antique animation a couple years ago. But the audio was a slightly out-of-sync, so I edited it a little bit to get a better sync.
I remember this airing on Captain Kangaroo in the mid 60's. Thanks for the wonderful flashback!
sorry that I didn't see your comment before posting. Captain Kangaroo is where I saw this, too, only for me, it was the '70s.
That's where I heard it as well. I also heard Miss Frog and group "lip syncing to Susan Christie's tune "I Love Onions". I'd so love to find that clip.
I remember seeing this when it premiered in 1959. They also ran it for Christmas, 1960 for a week or so. It was an early evening (circa 6-7pm) kiddie show in L.A., but I don't recall the name of the show or which cartoons or shorts they ran. They sounded like the Chipmunks.
Probably one of my favorite Christmas songs..simpler times at 6 years old..1959..and believed..❤
The reindeer look like George Jetson's fursona, ngl! 😂
Neither the record label nor the picture sleeve indicate it, but Russ Regan was the producer of this record.
Captain Kangaroo used to show this into the 1970's!
My mother always would sing this! Remember it from Captain Kangaroo also!
I actually have this 45, the group of course a rip off of the chipmunks but very cute!
Funny song and video!
Merry Holidays? Shouldn't it say Merry Christmas, or Happy Holidays?
Can you find the BLOOPER in this?...hint: wrong letter..
During the first verse, the screen graphic contains the line "Christmas day is HERE," but lyrically "Christmas day is NEAR" is what's sung.
I have a reindeer stuffed animal that sings this!
Who's the company that created this film?
Pantomime Pictures. Backgrounds and design by Harry Hess (a former UPA animator).
I have this song downloaded from Amazon MP3.com
COLORIZED CONFIRMED
They should make an animation using the same song, but with minions.
What was the song on the flip side of this record?
"Dancer's Waltz," which is an instrumental.
This song is so creepy
This song is so fucking creepy.
