While not an exact dupe, the Juvia's Place Nubian Earth lipstick in "Clay" is very similar! I love it for the exact same reason you love that Melt lipstick. I think if you layer it with a lipliner, you'll be able to get something very close :) I'm part Uchinaanchu (indigenous Okinawan), and we have a similar kind of festival that honors our ancestors. It's usually around the end of August, but that's the time that I use to meditate on the cycle of life and death, honor and tradition, and thankfulness of my time here on earth. Samhain sounds lovely as well
That shade is so pretty! Thanks so much for sharing your customs and stories! August also feels like a time to honour life cycles as summer comes to an end. 🖤 Ooohhh I was obsessed with Spy Kids too! I’ve never been to a Renaissance fair but I feel like I have to go. It seems like so much fun. And omg that witch hat sounds divine 😍💕✨
@@evangelinemolly If you have any Renaissance faires in your area, I recommend that you go! I love being able to support local small business owners. :) I'm not sure if there are any large Okinawan gatherings in your area, but the Japanese version of our celebration is called Obon. Some Japanese Buddhist temples will hold Obon celebrations that are open to the public. Okinawans have a 3 day celebration that includes singing and dancing through the streets, lots of good food, and praying at family altars. If you ever have the chance to attend an Obon celebration, I recommend it! :)
Love all of the things. 90s Lilith Fair, went back to copper hair and am loving your tutorials and your voice is so calming! Halloween has always been my favorite! Lol The algorithm is working. Or is it the alchemy? So mote it be 🧚🧙🧞♂️🧝♀️🕸🌙🎃 milani mahogany mami lip stain is close!
I just rewatched Practical Magic last night so the timing is perfect. I never lost my love of Halloween, we dress up & make our courtyard spooky to handout candy. It's fun.
My witchy self will be wearing deep dark purples and blacks on eyes and lips and a pale lavender highlighter over a contour on the cheeks for my school costume (I am a school librarian). I will chill it a bit for Trick or Treaters. My vampy red-brown is Labyrinth City by Sephora or Mrs. Rosewood by Gucci. Love them both.
I’ve always been in love with the 90’s witch aesthetic. Whimsy Goth/Witchy 90’s is like my entire personality lol Though I have two jobs that require basically sweats every day. So I can’t really dress the way I WANT to per se. I also have been a body painter/makeup artist for many years. (Not professional, just fun) So my nieces and nephews kind of live for me dressing up with them. lol I’m so tired these days though. So I was thinking of just buying a witch hat and being done with it when I go trick or treating with them. The makeup itself is something I’d see myself wearing daily though if I had it my way 😅 Your style of makeup is so pretty, elegant and soft. It’s definitely what I’ve been leaning into more these days as my skin ages. I like a minimal look, but with a pop of color or glitter to give me some peace of mind lol I’m happy I found your channel :) I’m happy colorful looks can still be doable as we age. And I know. There is no rules to makeup. That’s something I’ve stood by forever. But when your eyelids are too wrinkly for like a bright yellow/green look or something. Just taking a tone back can give it a more romantic style to it. Thanks for the video!
I wish I had some kids in my family circle I could take trick or treating. It sounds fun!! Honestly just add a dark lip to the hat, super low effort, and you will be good to go! I definitely love a bit of elegant sparkle on aging lids. My 90 year old grandma does it and it looks so pretty when she blinks and you see that pop of shimmer 🩷✨
TOTAL 90s witch look… but also, I would wear this every day lol love it! I’ve been Halloween obsessed since I was a kid. My favorite costume as a kid was when I dressed up as Jem… but it was the late 80s so it was one of those plastic costumes with the creepy, crunchy plastic masks 😂 I can still smell it
I really like your ' wearable concept' . Evangeline I really want you to teach us on how to tackle extremely sparkly shadows like the ones released by Patrick ta and the lashes to complement those . Love you loads sweetie ❤❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite brand of fragrance is Penhaligons, which is an English brand, and I think you'd really like them! As a woman, I wear both their colognes and perfumes because they work for everyone depending on your scent preference! I highly recommend! I have five of their scents and I love them dearly!
Halloween is my birthday and I’ve always been obsessed with the vibes, especially growing up in the 90s! Witch and black cat costumes are usually my favorite 😊 loving your channel so much!
In Portugal we did not celebrate Halloween during my childhood years, we did celebrate Carnaval that when we played dress up. The day after Halloween its All Saints day, its a holiday and we usually pay a visit to our ancestors ❤ really loved the look! 90s are super nostalgic ❤
Getting into niche perfumes was one of the most amazing journeys for me these past few years. But it's definitely a rabbit hole :D The more you smell, the more you will be able to differenciate the notes - that I can promise. On another note (pun not intended), I have just recently stumbled upon your channel and have been really loving all the warm, cozy witchy vibes. If I was a real witch (which I am, duh!), I would probably be a cottage one - I would spend my days incorporating magick into baking, gardening and making candles. I can see myself wearing quirky clothes like auties from Practical Magic or like Luna Lovegood ;D
I have another batch of samples coming! And I totally know what you mean about how the more you smell, the more you can start to tell the difference. So glad you found my channel… I’m finding my people!!
@@evangelinemolly yes, you should! It’s one of my all time fav mac lipsticks (of the ones that haven’t been discontinued) it’s the perfect deep brick red!
That lipstick looks somewhat similar to L'avenue from Merit - it's described as a berry brown. I think paired with a lipliner that is a little more brown it would be pretty close to that Hemlock shade!
I do have L’avenue and you’re so right they have a very similar colour. Hemlock can definitely get a bit vampier but I like L’avenue for a more wearable lip with this energy!
i know its a different formula, but perhaps the kaleidos lip clay in cognac could work as a color dupe? i dont own that particular shade, but from what ive seen online it seems pretty similar!
I am obsessed with this lip, I need melt to come back with this, and you’re so right it’s so hard to come by a dark vampy red lipstick that doesn’t lean purple and I’ve done a lot of swatching, and there are similar reds but you either compromise in texture or colour, which is so frustrating 😩 my daily has become bohemian rhapsody from nars but it’s slightly darker, but I also like auroral amber by Gucci but the satin isn’t as long wearing as the matte, but the matte isn’t slightly darker and cooler..
I've loved Halloween since I was a child but being from the UK, it was never a huge thing here. There are way more people who decorate their houses now but trick or treating was really frowned upon when I was a kid so I had to take what I could get in terms of Halloween content, which wasn't much! There was a channel called Discovery Kids that would have a Halloween week and show spooky adjacent shows like Mystery Hunters and Truth or Scare that I would watch every year - but I mostly got my spooky fix from Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Goosebumps! I would have loved to have grown up with all the Halloween traditions!
I didn’t know it wasn’t that big in the UK. I suppose North Americans really took Halloween and ran with it. I remember when Are you afraid of the dark would come on… I would get so scared!! 😂
We don't really do Halloween here unfortunately (I love wearing costumes any chance I get though lol)but I enjoy the feeling of the weather cooling down, of nature getting ready for winter. I am finding that I like fall more and more each year, the cozy vibes, the roasted chestnuts, the sleepy dark mornings... Maybe the Velveteen formula in Jazz would be close actually since it’s even darker than the bullet!

Cinnabar is a bit lighter but defs in the same zone! Maybe with a a darker liner. I might even try that today!
