- artificial death in the west east
pyramids on deck shine
wet hair on her neck breathe
she shoot pussy through your chest you die
there was a artificial death in the west east
all pyramids on deck shine
wet hair on her neck breathe
g-o-d she shoot pussy through your chest you die
where you runnin now
I'm barely there I'm everywhere
heavy thin air sahara mascara smeared end of an era
tracks on Hera's peacock thighs china white skies ivory of my leper eyes
tone of sighs off nylon lips
where you runnin now
in fish net wet guise of gimp horizon slit bled like my wrist I suck it dry
which nipples mine read the signs still can't decide
at your own risk at your own risk
don't touch me bitch don't touch me bitch
where you runnin now
accustomed to these satin glitches drippin from my caskets inners
charmer play me out the basket last image I saw was splintered
my reflection wasn't in it in slow motion I give in
where you runnin now where you runnin now
hopeless premonitions
tomorrow didn't come some say its hiding but they're the ones who've hidden
euphoria followed by visions of peasants eating pigeons
where you runnin now where you runnin now
there was a artificial death in the west east
all pyramids on deck shine
wet hair on her neck breathe
g-o-d she shoot pussy through your chest you die
where you runnin now
watching me watching me watch them watch me
hole in this platinum ship of fools nomadic rule concept no rules
mobile shrine of this destitute wasteland mute
screaming at me winking at me like I love it
fucking wit me fuck it
my star gate in a vacuum monitors eye view
this valley is an urn this valley I'm wading through
where you runnin now
feel like I'm chasing after me feel like dead weight in a sea of vaseline
all that can't be seen watching me watching me watch them watch me
try not to dwell on my cell my empty shell shedding me
where you runnin now
artificial death in the west east
pyramids on deck shine
where you runnin now
no matter where I turn shut down shut down
everyones a runaway where you runnin now
there was a artificial death in the west east
all pyramids on deck shine
wet hair on her neck breathe
g-o-d she shoot pussy through your chest you die
watching me watching me watch them watch me

I love the sense of finality it has.
the artificial sense of finality
I feel like its time to die
More like the finality of life than the finality of an album
i feel like Ride is nearly crying when he spits "no matter where I turn... everyone's a runaway"... this line speaks to my bones...
i agree that line is super powerful and underrated. it has been immortalized in music which is cool.
@@PKSkyler nah people reference it quite a lot actually
@@PKSkyler its literally the most replayed part in the video dawg 💀
@@bigmac1560 well when i made that comment 3 yrs ago i was thinking of my experiences b4 2020 and ppl hadnt referenced it much then. I also am not very involved with DG fandom anymore.
this is easily one of the best closers to an album ever made
It just feels so climatic.
Better than Blood Creepin imo
The whole album builds to it and it's perfect.
@Apocaly pstick Hacker is definetly better.
This is actually the worst closer in death grips all albums of dg
my english isnt very good... but this song is a Fucking
Makes sense to me lol
Sums up DG pretty accurately.

I love their more subdued songs. Reminds me of some cyberpunk wasteland.
TetrisClock sounds like something that would go well with a certain cyberpunk anime...

I love how you can hear the threads of Government Plates in the instrumentals on this.
Thats my favorite part of this group. Stefon said himself in that pitchfork interview they don'r ever wanna move "side to side" making shit that sounds like the old stuff. Because its a trapping that would go against their core.
"We have concepts, but there are no 'characters' or 'persona's' in this group. We have no use for an alter-ego because we aren't on a masculine, tough guy trip. Or ego thing in the first place." - Flatlander
There are no 'characters'.
Its difficult to believe anything from a guy who is covered in tattoos and writes lyrics like "she shoots pussy through your chest you die" i still love it though
@@Ryan-xq3kl thats not flatlander
@@jacobm92 Yeah, but MC Ride is a Character. No doubt about it.
MC Ride is a concept you fools.
@@jacobm92 I think they're all Flatlander or something. I dunno anymore, I've read too much Death Grips "lore" and it all gets mixed up. I just call them Andy Morin and Zach Hill and Stefan Burnett at this point to avoid confusion

Fuck I love this song.
There must be more than one of you, you're fucking everywhere. Where can I sign up?
Srsly man it's either a hive mind account or we have a lot of similar interests.
The one death grips song that actually made me cry.
Same bro
what about on gp
FrailDog On GP def made me cry
On GP is an excellent song but I don't ever listen to it because it fucks my entire mood op.
Smashtime and I’m over here sobbing every time I listen to Lock Your Doors because of the immense anger that I feel when listening to it
The lyrics to this song are seriously on par with T.S Elliot's "The Wasteland"
So dark, so sad, endlessly fascinating and all around utterly brilliant. My favorite line is probably "smeared mascara end of an era"
Burnett is one of my favorite writers. Him and Earl Sweatshirt are masters of organized chaos and cryptic but weirdly relatable and poignant lyrics. They both very underrated as writers.
same with "feel like I'm chasing after me feel like dead weight in a sea of vaseline
all that can't be seen watching me watching me watch them watch me
try not to dwell on my cell my empty shell shedding me"
You're worshipping the flair and effect of what you can't make any sense of. This is like what they do with David Lynch, and Lynch is another artist the pleb subhuman Left have co-opted and devoured
I honestly don't understand the meaning behind the words in this song and I haven't really taken the time to analyze them yet, but I have this strange feeling that these are some of the best lyrics Stefan has ever written.
One thing I can say for sure is that the synths and the beat on this track are fucking incredible.
Virile Lovers who just want to use you, drug addiction, people wasting their lives on technology. Various means of "Aritifical Death".
Stranger than this it the fact that I'm listening to this while reading JoJo just now. Not part 4 though.
Virile they are. at least for me, it's some of the most powerful poetry ever written. themes of identity dissolving, losing yourself to hedonism (ie sex/violence/drugs), extreme paranoia, and unbearable self hatred tied together by an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness and dread running throughout the lyrics/sound. death is talked about in a more grave, melancholic, and personal manner than they've ever covered it before. even up to now it feels even darker, more vulnerable and a lot more depressing than pretty much the rest of their discography (yes, including On GP). but everything is expressed so beautifully and it makes the song unbelievably heartwrenching. i connected with the subject matter more than i ever thought i could, which shows they truly did something special with it. im not a hedonistic or violent person obviously and i don't take any kind of substances, but the feelings in this song are expressed in such honest, powerful ways that i can't help but feel those things too while listening. just amazing
Smart Monkey This group is truly magical. Feels weird using that word to describe such an abrasive band but the fact these 3 ever met at all let alone started writing is such a gift. This group couldn't be anywhere near the same level if ANY member was different. It's hard to believe a band could achieve such a perfectly unique sound but fitting sound for such a tortured lyrics and vocal.
@@nightdruid540 On GP I think is more depressing just because it's clear that it's about suicide, in this you need to go deeper into the lyrics to see the depressing themes
This might come off as weak af but
The part at 0:56 ...
It gives me a strange sense of being and belonging. It sounds astral
Makes me feel like I have an actual future to look forward to haha
Yeah, I agree. This song is probably the calmest one on NLDW, and it feels like a nice break from all the screaming and pounding beats of the album (even though this song has a fair amount of screaming itself, haha.)
"this might come off as weak af"
You're 100% correct
You do
feels like you’re being sucked in...again
my favorite song you guys have ever done, its fun to want to punch holes in walls, but to step back and listen to Steffan's lyrical ability in full, and a masterfully crafted beat is fucking amazing you guys rock... and rule... all day long

Everyone's a runaway!"
"Where you running now!"
In the future, this should be one of the poems that you have to study in English classes at school, it's so cryptic and relevant to now
Fucking rage, pure rage inside me that it isn't. So many poems and pieces of writing can suck a DICK compared to the lyrics here.
If it's so cryptic how could you know it's relevant?
I'll just lay in bed and listen to this song. It just puts me in such a beyond state.
Beyond... alive
Fucking Shit Eater that's what got me to start using that word to describe things tbh
I'm barely there I'm everywhere is a great great line, very simple, but saying how in your own mind, you're everywhere in the universe, your universe, you can really see so many things, realities, lives, places but you are barely there
I always interpreted it as a take on the emptiness and disappointment of the information age. With the touch of a finger, we can communicate with people across the planet, we can see absolutely everything that is going on with facebook/youtube/etc, but we are not actually experiencing those things, we're just watching them happen on a device, ultimately left feeling empty and unfulfilled in terms of experience and interaction. We're everywhere but barely there.

@Noided Name noooo this the worst thing ever
Thank you kanye very cool
a song of persisting too long
The lyrics are flexible with a couple if not many interpretations. When a song is done this well it feels like it speaks to you personally, if you want to take the time to realize what it's meaning to you is.
Word.
Easily in my top ten favorite Death Grips songs.
"Watching me watching me watch them watch me" has to be among the absolute hardest and most ominous lyrics ever
Ridiculously underrated DG song imho
I don't care what me and my stupid sense of quality think, this *is* my favorite song, i always come back for it and it never truly leaves me, i don't think anything else ever spoke to me on the level this does, i love everything that shapes this.
this song makes my eyes tear up everytime
its beautiful
I feel like Bass Rattle Star Out the Sky is a massive apocalypse and this is the aftermath: desolate wasteland in every direction.
Death Grips are, hands down, the best Hip-Hop group currently.

***** I can name 30 lyricists who put Raekwon to shame.
***** El-P, Slug, Eyedea, Sage Francis, Brother Ali, Cise Starr, Illogic, Masta Ace, Aesop Rock, J-Live, Shad K, Aceyalone, eLZhi, One.Be.Lo, Gift of Gab, Life MC, Del The Funky Homosapien, Kool Keith, OLD Lupe Fiasco, Dalek, Tame One, Tonedeff, Qwel, Vakill, Cage, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Chino XL, Common, Royce da 5'9", Black Thought, Reks, Redman, Possessed, Ras Kass, MF DOOM, Pharoahe Monch, Andre 3000, P.O.S., Kool G Rap, Killer Mike, Immortal Technique, Diabolic, Finale, Jay Electronica, Evidence, CunninLynguists, Crooked I, ect.
It's not as subjective as you'd like to think.
As far as lyricism, syllables, rhyme structure, schemes, bars, and just overall linguistics, these guys have Raekwon beat.
I'm not saying every single one of their albums are superior to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., but I am saying that Raekwon cannot body that many people. He was undoubtedly good for his time, but Hip-Hop has evolved from simple mafioso rap.
Also, Black Hippie is overrated.
Watching me, watching me, watch them watch me. This whole album is the most amazing paranoia infused album I've ever heard. Cyberpunk in the truest sense of the word.
Love how Government Plates and Trash are a total 180° of this song's meaning. Like, "Jk, the Internet is a fucking hellhole."
death grips is right internet is a hellhole
what may seem like a contradiction is just a multi-faceted opinion
Is that really contrary to what this album is saying? That’s very much the vibe I got from the whole project, that on the internet everyone is watching you at all times: “watching me watch them watch me”, “trapped inside my TV where everyone but me can see”, “call me crazy but I swear my line’s been tapped”. I very much get the sense that this album is largely about paranoia in the age of the internet, where you’re always tracked and even literally watched at times.
Running has been a death grips concepts for a while. guillotine, blood creeping, get got, hacker. He is literally running in the music video for the first song off exmilitary. This was said to be an end of a trilogy, where you running now?
"charmer play me out the basket last image I saw was splintered
my reflection wasn't in it in slow motion I give in"
*w o a h*
This like for an ending to a cult appreciated Dystopian Sci fi movie in the mid 80s
I'm always nervous showing people what kind of music I listened to, especially death grips, but majority of the time when I get someone to listen to this band they love it. They're so fun
*This album is a masterpiece.*

honestly though it's underrated
I think this is my favorite DG song. I usually don’t have a favorite song from many bands but I’ve listened to literally all of their work but I just can’t stop coming back to this one song every now and then.
The line "everyone's a runaway" makes me sad for some reason.
because it is
"I'm barely there, I'm everywhere.."
Listening in 2018 and realizing this is one of their best songs. But I say that about any DG song on different days,
I am still surprised each time I find a DG song that I haven't heard before. Death grips is actually the best group there is
If death grips does any one thing the best its opening and closing tracks
currently making an orchestral remix of this song
Just looked it up and listened to it and your other remixes. Awesome stuff.

I actually wish this was a bit less vulgar so I could show this to more people honestly, it's amazing.
+Chris DiBella But thats the beauty. Its no filter its what they want to express and they do it. Anyone who is offended or dislikes it , GOOD you dont deserve this blessing
The "hidden shock in the West" mashup is probably my favourite mashup right now. Especially because it has deathgrips first of all, but also machine girl, a super obscure artist that i love to the moon and back.

Possibly the most chill death grips song.
Such an amazingly unique and interesting closure.

This may be their best album, I love every single song here so much
Love the synth
"Tomorrow didn't come, some say it's hiding but they're the ones who've hidden"
This album was a fucking experience
I like the variation of the first verse at 3:49
I think this song is about a dude looking for the one who killed a highly coveted prostitute..the only woman he ever loved. To everyone else, it looked like she hung herself in the shower, but he knows better.
So now he's fucked up on drugs, searching the city, interrogating EVERYONE trying to find out what all the local pimps know about her killer. And no one is giving him any answers.
"There was an artificial death in the West East" - Artificial death in this case means a murder made to look like a suicide. West East is referring to California in East L.A.
"Pyramids on deck shine" - All the pimps (Pyramids) in town. They shine, meaning they're talking about it to each other.
"Wet hair on her neck breath" - Her hair is wet from the shower. Basically, he neck tells the story of how she died, and it's NOT that she killed herself.
"G-O-D She shoot pussy through your chest, you die" - She was a God Tier whore, with pussy that would make you fall in love with her instantly.
"Where you runnin now?" - He's trying to find the killer, and he suspects the killer's on the run.
"No matter where I turn, shut down, shut down" - No one's giving him any information he can use to find her killer.
"Watching me watching me watch them watch me" - This is just general drug-induced paranoia. He's starting the wonder if HE is the killer, and that everyone he's asking knows this and is just enjoying watching him lose his shit.
The rest of the lyrics are just his delusions, fantasies, hallucinations, and memories all rolled into one living nightmare.
brilliance. Pure brilliance.
no its about being used and betrayed by a toxic person and the pain and loss of identity that comes with it
They nailed the detroit / chicago vibes on this record so fucking hard. Sounds like something Juan Atkins could've produced

Ok, first listen:
NLDW is weird. It starts off weird, but nice, and the weirdness keeps going throughout the whole album. What really changes though is that “but nice”. In my eyes, this album only gets stronger as it goes on, with “No Love” fittingly being the turning point from a comfortable B tier to amazing. I don’t have time to formulate my thoughts, but I do really like this album. Can’t wait to get to Government Plates.
