I am 35 years old. When I was in my early 20's I stopped by your hanger and saw this bird during the restoration. Congratulations on your success and thank you for bringing back such a beautiful and historic warbird!
I believe the buyer provided and restored their own wings. You are correct about the original WW2 tail wheels used by FlugWerk, since a cache of tail wheels units were discovered in storage. Provenance can be important for historical aircraft. There is one BMW flying with the 100% original Fw190 owned by the Flying Heritage Collection and the sound is very nice.
BTW I have watched it 3 times today in full length, can´t get enough of this beauty. Remarkably nice behaviour for her 2nd testflight. She does look sweet indeed as well. Well done by all involved. Many happy landings, and may the owner have a lot of fun with her.
An interesting story from WWII. The Saturday Evening Post (or maybe LIFE) ran a full page ad for the P-38 Lightning showing a picture of the FW-190 captioned "Whose Afraid of the Old Focke-Wolf"........A tear out of this page was returned to Lockheed sometime later from one of the 8th AF fighter squadrons. Written across the face (in large letters) was the caption "I AM". It was signed by every pilot in the squadron. I don't think they used it again.
what a pleasure to see klaus doing what he is married to :-) an awesome pilot and one of the nicest guys i've ever met. greetings from old SAR Base Manching!
Outstanding; I was surprised by the flaps stall at 6:50... it rolls to the right, not to the left as i expected... and at 7:50 with lowered gear, it stalls to the left...
Thanks FiveCentsPlease. I didn't realize FlugWerke built some with original wings, although I heard they used original tail wheels in some at least. Now if we could just get a BMW 801 flyable, we'd have the sound perfect as well!
One of 21 replicas offered as kits, using a Russian/Chinese ASh-82 engine in place of the rare BMWs. The were sold as a kit for cost-saving reasons, with buyers completing final assembly. The example above is a hybrid of original parts and kit parts.
I meet Klaus Plaza when I made my glider-licence at Buckeburg-Airfield when I started flying: He towed me up with an Aeronca (D-EKIZ) lots of times. During this time he flew C-160 's at ETNW and owned a Boeing Stearman (Spirit Of St. Galesburg). Some years later he took me off in a P-51D owned by Scandinavian Historic Flight which was one of the best flights I ever have been in.... He is a very nice guy... :-)
It does not have the original engine, but uses the ASh-82 engines of Russian/Chinese design that are found on the FlugWerk replica Fw190 airframes. This Fw190 appears to be a hybrid of original parts combined with one of the FlugWerk replica Fw190 kits that were sold in Germany. Only one fully original Fw190 is currently flying and it uses the original BMW engine.
WWII flying aircrafts fleet increases moore. But many types still non flyable. I raise an toast to all those putting effort, time and money to these projects for all us to enjoy. Aviation history has many great constructions and types thuru time world wide. Im just for the moment very interested in RAF Hawker Typhon and Luftwaffe Henschel 129. Maybe one day such ground attackers will fly display. The future will show. Once again marveless see an Focke Wulf Fly again in peace. Thanks for the word
Great video of what appears to be an excellent restoration of one of the world's most historic warplanes. I'm sure Kurt Tank would have been pleased. I wonder what the pilot meant by saying this plane was nicer to fly that 'the other ones'? What other ones? The FlugWerk FW-190A8 series?
This one is also a FlugWerk, but I believed it incorporated original WW2 wings. I haven't heard much comparison between FlugWerk examples although since they are built from kits, the flying quality is probably related to the quality of final assembly.
just pointing out something here about the "b4" symbol. from the fw190-A3 to A9 variants they all used bmw801D engines which required C3 fuel. so imo it would be more accurate to say "C3" on the side.
What a beautiful FW 190. Does it have an original restored BMW 801 air-cooled radial engine installed or is it remanufactured ? Nonetheless, I would say the FW-190 was one of the greatest Fighter airplanes of WW2.
+J. M. Studios Not worth as much as a genuine WW2 restoration. The Flugwerk replicas differ from authentic WW2 examples in several ways (different construction.) But it is still a great replica from Flugwerk.
@@FiveCentsPlease This one would be in between, in price because it is at a percentage original, with flugwerk parts. I believe it is close to 50%original, the wings are, for a fact.
+Treu Reaper45 The Flugwerk Fw-190 replica kits were not sold with hard points for replica weapons. Although the buyer could possibly add dummy barrels depending on local laws.
Actually the 190 & 109 did face Corsairs,Hellcats, and Wildcats. The Royal Navy flew all three fighters. If the Bearcat did encounter the Fw 190A,F or G I would put money on the Bear. But the Dora or a Ta-152, that might be a different story. The Bear does still hold a few climb records. It is true though, the Bear was modeled after the Fw.
Great! Have a question: Downstream the wing-fuselage intersection, what is that flickering coming from observable at both sides of the fuselage (dominating l/h side)? Best see from 3:27 and later 8:20... Does not seem to be a camera-issue because it is appering only in a limited area. Hot Air from Engine-Exhaust? Separation (vortices)? Uhm, I forgot: Landing pattern is for whimps, istn' it? ;-)
Well if you mean this aircraft, the 190A-8 - the Bearcat without doubt. If you mean the best example of the 190, the 190D, it really depends on the altitude, above ~35k the 190 comes out on top, below that the Bearcat wins.
Impossible to answer. Many variables come into play. Also you have to remember German planes never faced US Navy planes. Had they faced them, Germans would have built a place to face it. An example of this is the Spitfire Mk IX which was indeed built to face the Fw 190 that was slaughtering the Spitfire Mk V variant until then.
+Marco Nasti actually German planes did face US Navy planes f4fs,Corsairs, F6F's from the British Fleet Air Arm's. one account 8th may 1944 Operation Tungsten (an attack on the Tirpitz)f4fs,Corsairs, F6F's escorting flight of Barracudas when bounced by Bf-109Gs & fw-190As in the battle 2 F6Fs were lost & 3 bf-109Gs were lost in short.
This should not be called a resto but the Flugwerk-Kit built to airworthyness. Give it an original BMW 801 and restore it to flight condition then you can call it a resto. An original serial number and Markings do not turn it into a Focke-Wulf.
Really nice video of a great WW2 war bird. I would have really liked to have seen that fighter. Good to see that they displayed the historically accurate swastika marking and didn't cave into the politically correct crowd that might want it removed. Yes, I know it is illegal in some countries to display that swastika.

....best "WW2 fighter" pilot in the cockpit ......Klaus Plasa 👍🙏🇩🇪
Within a half a minute of watching this, i added this vid to my favourites. Fantastic.

Incredible flight and the airborne video was excellent. They were built to fly and fly they did.
Oh what a Beauty, so ein wunderbares Flugbild. Danke für das Video
The best FW 190 clip ever..and released on oct.19...my birtday!...a lovely gift ...Thanks!
Thumbs up for no music!
Großartig! Dankeschön,tolles Video👍👍
This video is absolutely best FW 190 video ever.
Wonderful-I felt like I was along on the flight, even the stalls were great.
Great to see her in the air, very good video, congratulations to all involved!!!!
Thank you for keeping history alive!
I have loved watching it fly around the airport. Pure music.
''Wunderbar''..She's a beauty..love this aircraft //

Videos like this, are the Reasons, why I like the Butcher Bird Focke Wulf190 A4, A6 and the D9.
Kurt Tank's masterpiece

White one was rebuilt and I think is flying as it's mentioned on the description listed on you tube has bmw 801 radial engine
some gorgeous tail fin shots there, love it
I'd love to see a Ta-152H or FW-190 Dora flying with a tail cam.
Fantastic video, like being a fly on the tail!

Why not? So long as we are aware of the replica status.

Lovely video, the lovely fw-190 is my favorite germen aircraft off all time ☺
Looks and sounds amazing!
Beautiful vid. I fly a F190 RC plane and I love it. Nice to see the real thing in action.
WOW, what a video. Fantastic.
Nice! Congratulations. wonderful FW-190.
Beautiful restoration...excellent video !!!
Correct, it's a Flugwerk, although I think this buyer restored and used an original set of Fw190 wings.

perfect job, congratulations!
Wonderful video !! ******
Absolutely superb!
Works like a charm
Wow, Impressive plane and video too. Great quality. Thanks for posting. Greetings from Newfoundland Canada. I also fly a Fw-190 RC model airplane.
Wow this is a old post. I was thinking this is the first time one seen a 190 flying. So at 6:50 and 7:50 testing the 190 stall characteristics?
+Woody 5326 There is only one WW2 original Fw-190 that is flying. th-cam.com/video/qhAgU-GUc1Q/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful!
We need a headcam flight, and if ever possible demonstrating rollrate (which seems to be superb with this one), speed, climb etc. !!
Awesome!
Good going Klaus!!!!
Well flown Chap!
Incredible.
Where's my crew,,,,:38 oh there they are. Great job filming a sweet bird!

What airport was the video shot from? This absolute amazing the FW 190 was also stunning in performance and I think a beautiful aeroplane as well.
Nope, not on this one. It's a Flugwerk replica combined with original parts.

Beautiful restoration guys! is the colour scheme attributed to a particular Luftwaffe pilot?
The colors are very close to Hans Dortenmann but the number i believe is not.
Good lord I would be paranoid landing that thing... How much is it worth?

Thank you for your kind response. In the time it took you to write your pompous rebuttle you may have answered the question!
All that power! What a scary opponent!
Is it missing the wing mounted guns or is it a lighter armed variant?

Don't forget Hawker Sea Fury. The three of them, Bearcat,Sea Fury & TA-152 that would be a show.
Just how authentic is it?
Boy they were good looking aircraft _b
Were those flaps down the entire flight?
I liked that one very much ! ;-)
Lindo voo . Linda Maquina .
Tail cam cool!

Serial number on plane ' s tail is missing !

Nice to see a german flying a german plane.
Wunderschon und wunderbar, umlaus fehlen aufgrund English schrift.
Great video. I just want to see one 190 video demonstrating that roll rate =[
So i think its a Flugwerk 190 with an Ash Engine from China

RiotBadger Thx - oh, right, the 190 design specs probably included shooting down B-17s at altitude, not defending flattops from kamikazes
