- F**k the patriarchy!! #BrightSummerNight presents The Mechanicals
Petra Quince, musician extraordinaire and activist almighty, gives us the rundown of her house, which is currently under siege by a party.
Inspired by William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, #BrightSummerNight is an exciting new take on the classic play - set at a Wellington house party over one night in the middle of summer.
Episode 4 is out on 5th August, with new BEHIND THE SCENES episodes, right here, every Tuesday.
This episode contains swearing and mentions of alcohol and drug use. It may be disturbing for some people.

You get to see how clever and careless Puck is, which is something I've always loved about Shakespeare's Puck. Fuck Yeah the Candle Wasters!!! Reinvigorating Shakespeare's greatness for us all!
i love petra, taylor, frankie and nicky already! i can't wait to see more of them.
also holy shit puck.
These tiny punks are precious and remind me a little bit of the main characters in the movie We Are The Best! I also want Petra's outfit.
AHH yes i love that movie thats exactly wat i was thinking bless
i love this so far
Oh! These small ones are so precious. They're still got all their hope and passion. I'm eager to see how their performance will shape up. Puck's definitely got a darker outlook on the world so it was nice to see a different side of them.
Oh my god, I loved this episode so much. Just cause like, when you're low key trying to change the world, it's so often written off as being self righteous, and no matter how much you genuinely care about "The Issues", a little part of yourself will be like, "Am I just doing this for the credit?" And this episode pretty much quelled that fear. Sure no one's watching, no one's keeping score, but in the end that isn't why you do it. You do it because you want to. This lot being sweet and innocent and doing what they're doing because why not, it reminded me why I get involved in things like this and it warmed my frozen heart.
"Trump exists"
"Worrying"
Truth.
God.... I'm loving this so much more than I thought I would and I didn't think that was possible.
This series is actual perfection. I'm already looking forward to re-watching the whole thing in one go once all episode come out.
IM SCREAMING I LOVE THE MECHANICALS AND I LOVE WHAT YOUVE DONE WITH THEM
I spilt the bottle and it's everywhere hahah, I love them
probably my favorite episode so far. I feel like the conversation between these four has happened in my own mind. Really looking forward to seeing this series develop. I think its wonderful so far! Also loved seeing the Garth Nix book on the shelf!
This just keeps getting better! Can't wait for the next one.
Favourite episode so far!
IF YOU'RE GONNA BE MEAN YOU CAN FIND YOUR CRACK SOMEWHERE ELSE
i love them
Aw man. This is so great. Love the little punks
yay! I love seeing Petra and co. :)
this is a really clever setting to adapt A Midsummer Night's Dream into, it works really slickly but, wow, it's so stressful, I'm so stressed.
Loving these guys already!
this is seriously one of my favorite episodes of the series
My favorites so far!!!
Taylor is my fave. So many zinger moments from such a quiet person - I love it!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that Puck really hates being called 'buddy'.

"Trump exists."
"Worrying."
TRUE
Ummmm.....huh....slightly confused.
Hey let's save the environment by wasting heaps of pieces of paper to put a few words and pictures on an entire page.
Yeah not a fan of them. Petra's okay but honestly these people are quite annoying. Hope they do get less annoying soon (someone who's very aware of social justice but the way they came across was irritating). Funny though!
