I think you can tell pretty well in the video, but it's also of note that keyhole's off camber and the end of it's downhill. The crest at Madness definitely makes the car go a little light too. It's been a couple years since I've been there, but if the patch is still in the latter part of the turn before entering thunder valley, that was always a great reference as you were cresting that hill blind. It would guide you where you wanted to be. As far as where Tom talks about letting the car drift out a little in Keyhole and Carousel, there's a seam about mid-track that runs the length of those corners that makes a good reference for car placement and allowing you to be repeatable. Good info and it's a super fun track!

I am running Mid-Ohio this weekend with NASA and this was the perfect video to reacquaint me with the track. I also appreciate the reference points refresher and reasoning for why you run the line you showed in the video. Thanks Tom!

After watching this I just realized I need to sell my car and take up knitting. :))

On turn 7 there's a cement block about 75% to the left of the track that you can use as a marker since it's a blind turn

I don’t know if I’ll ever go to mid Ohio, but this walkthrough is phenomenal. Tomo ftw. May I throw in a request for Eagles Canyon Raceway? lol

Wow, some of those crest are just straight blind but those elevation changes look so fun to do. Might be a far drive but I'd drive the long hours out to this track. Although I'll have to rent out a U-Haul truck and trailer just in case I break the car.

Can anyone tell me what track timer app is being used here? I have Harry LapTimer…but I absolutely LOVE the predictive Lap time being shown - instead of just the delta. Anyone please help?
Also where was this camera mounted? Rear window???

So hypothetical question... would it be better for my first tack day at mid ohio to run my 400hp tune or 300hp file on a modified gti?
I have never done a track like this I have only done straight line races with my other vehicle.

Whatever makes you most comfortable. Personally, I'd start at 300 (especially if that is the "safe" tune) and focus on driving for multiple track days before worrying about adding more HP.

@@BoostedFilms I was thinking to start at the 300hp file just to feel it out. As for safe my engine is built for 600hp so pretty sure even the 400hp map would be okay.
I would be going with my buddies that have mazda speed 3, veloster N and a focus ST. I feel the 300hp map would still be competitive with them.

I'm disappointed in the lack of pedal dance in this video...
