  • This fourth video builds upon the first three - where I developed the DIY linear actuators for digging arm and power to the tracks - and adds a continuous rotation turntable to the excavator. The gear main gear wheel and turntable gear box are spare Heng Long RC tank items. An electric slip ring was used to allow the upper part to keep rotating without twisting up any wires. The video is quite detailed and includes the process I went through to develop the solution - as well as every step of the build to help you build your own & hopefully improve on what I did. Towards the end of the video a short running segment is included to test the elements completed so far.
As I mentioned in one of the previous videos, I have recently set up, but not yet used a Twitter account ( / rcmodders ) which I am interested to see if this is helpful to the channel - I would be interested to hear suggestions on this - as I have never really used social media.
This is where I got the slip ring : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-5mm-300...
This is where I got the turntable gear: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heng-Long-...
Any thoughts and ideas that you have for me would be most welcome in the comments box. If you like this video and want to see more as this model develops in the coming weeks, please like & subscribe. I have a whole bunch of Bruder models/toys waiting to be converted to radio control.🙂👍

I dont know if anyone said anything to you yet or not, but you need to put the track controls on a different switch that the boom controls so you can use both the tracks and boom at the same time. I run an excavator in real life and have to use the boom to help get myself unstuck all the time. Keep up the good work though. Love what you are doing

In its latest form I’m using a flysky i6 tx. With tracks on the top corner wheels and sticks for the boom and cab turn etc. Much better.

Hi RD Modders. I Came across this series of mods to add automated RC lifting and rotating parts on this vehicle and think it's great. Your video is clear, concise and no loud music in the background so we can hear your voice clearly - thanks for that. I've bought a 1/32 crane which I will mount on the deck of an RC push tug that I will make from plans. The crane has a similar layout to your model although smaller but I'm copying your ideas and searching smaller motors, threaded rods etc. So just to say keep up the good engineering work.

Thank you. I certainly don’t have the monopoly on “good ideas” when it comes to these mods. There are lots of solutions possible, depending on the resources available at the time. Believe it or not, I’m trying to keep these builds as simple as possible! 😄👍

Actually, that fact really is clearly apparent.

Thank you! I'm sure that these videos would be much shorter and easier to make if I just built the models first, but I'm trying to provide something that people can follow & hopefully have a go at this sort of thing themselves. 😀👍

In the end I designed and printed my own. I will get round to publishing all the revised parts for this at some point.

Beautiful work bud it is coming along very nicely it’s a work of art.. I will be building this as well.. have you seen the bruder Volvo a60 I have been wanting to get my hands on one for a conversion but they aren’t offering them for sale over here in the states..I might need a middle man to get one too me 😁😉👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Thumbs up as always keep up the awesome descriptive videos...

Thank you! This ones a real labour of love and the challenges keep coming .... I think that it will be worth the effort in the end, I’m looking forward to digging with the non-return-to-centre actuators - as this always frustrated me with the Hobby Engine one a bit, as it felt counter-intuitive to operate and I couldn’t find a good way round it using programming on any of my transmitters.
Yes, I have noticed the big Volvo dumper. Funnily enough I ordered one from Amazon a few days before the release, only to find out that delivery would be delayed - 1st Nov I think they said. I think that this will be a great conversion, not too difficult, apart from possibly the steering - I think I would prefer return-to-centre proportional for this (I don’t really like the control for the Hobby Engine wheel loader, even with micro switch end stops) - so could either end up with a really powerful servo or even a Firgelli / Actuonix linear servo (borrowed from the Hobby Engine excavator?) for this.
I’m still waiting to find out what was in your mystery box over at your channel 🙂👍

could you make the gearbox for the turret self tentioning using a spring or rubber? that's if the mesh causes problems later down the line

    • @RCModders
      @RCModders  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you. I'll keep an eye on the meshing of the gears - so far there is no sign of any trouble! 👍😀

Was just recently turned on to your channel from rc sparks or TH-cam gold.. my original idea was like what you hav done but if you watch my video I used a slip ring that they use on windmills I guess and a servo with a chain an sprockets to link it all together so I’m able to get infinity rotation witch is what I wanted because I kept hitting the stopper in the original toy I had that I broke an used the electronics to make mine

Welcome to the channel, I hope you like what you find here 😀! The slip ring was a revelation to me & made this possible. One of my subscribers pointed these out to me & made the solution possible! 😀👍
