- On April 8th I visited Giorgi Ushikishvili at the National Folklore School in Tbilisi Georgia. He was practicing with a male choir and they sang a few songs for me. This was one of them. If you know the name of this song please write it below. This is being sung in the Kakheti regional style. This music reaches a very deep place indeed.

Tsintskaro. Kate Bush used it in her song "Hello Earth," and Werner Herzog used it even earlier in his film "Nosferatu, Phantom der Nacht." A heavenly music, sung by Hamlet Gonashvili, among others.
Indeed, ethereal transcendent music.
First heard Zinskaro (aka Tsintskaro) in a haunting scene from Werner Herzog's 1979 film Nosferatu ... I've been listening to as many versions as possible ever since ... one of my favourite pieces of music ... in fact thinking of including it in my funeral ... Giorgi Ushikishvili & choir rendition is excellent.

That must be a German spelling, since it would pronounce mostly the same way. The spelling I have used, Tsintskaro, is the official Georgian to Latin transliteration of წინწყარო.
@@GravityFromAbove makes perfect sense since Werner Herzog is a German filmmaker. Must say that the version used in the film sounds really special to me. I tried to find more music by the Vocal Ensemble Gordela but have not succeeded.

The song is called - TSINTSKARO - წინწყარო
The first letter წ is ts in English not c. The c would be for a Slavic language. It is an older transliteration that is not common anymore in English spellings. I have spelled it correctly. Thanks for wondering though.

@@marinemari4003 Madloba. I sometimes see the older spelling too. And there are others odd choices, X is now kh. That k in წინწყარო should probably be a q'. But we can all agree how lamazi the the music is!

Thank you. It is an ancient sound. Maybe there are Bulgarian women's choirs that also have such an ancient sound. Also Orthodox chants in Bulgaria. And of course in Georgia. If you want to learn more about Georgian music I made a video on it on my other channel.
