It always amazes me how every single reactor to this series always guesses things completely wrong in their own unique way. Kinda the best part of watching these.
It’s not really a reactor thing. It’s how anyone watching any series is. Fans, casual viewers, etc. I’m sure you must’ve made some pretty wildly wrong guesses too when you first watched FMA, right? xD Not that your initial comment was an insult to Carlie and Ange or anything, just that we all get things right or wrong when getting into any story.
Exactly!! Which is why the ones that magically "guess" every minute detail of the villain's final master plan, like 10 episodes into the show are so infuriating... 1. We know you're lying 2. You've just ruined the reaction for yourself and everyone watching 3. You're unlikely to find another show this good in a while, so why would deny yourself the journey?
That's why, despite Izumi being clear waifu material, I respectfully keep her off of any waifu list I may or may not have - purely out of respect for her and her husband, who are absolutely perfect together (And definitely not out of fear that Izumi, while maybe expressing some degree of flattery, would proceed to beat me into a bloody paste 😅)
I laughed at the "the other episode was a bit filler" because not only is fmab one of the few animes without a single filler episode, but the rushvalley episode comes back a lot later on and is very important XD
Actually, the homoculus being failed creation of human transmutation was explored in the first anime adaptation. Kind of heartbreaking when Izumi was confronted with the child she never had... As for Ed and Al mother, they mentioned in episode 2 that an epidemic came to their home and took her life. As for their father...I can't say more for obvious reasons x) But he's a favorite of mine :)
Actually, it's deferent in the two versions. They are completely different universes. The CANNON homoculus are made by people with the stone being their heart. So it's funny she just randomly discovered the plot for FMA when watching FMAB.
I love how you're so easily falling in the mistake of judging everything from a single shot, like "Ok, that dad is a prick", "But she forbade them from using alchemy", "Nooo, leave the rabbit!!" and "Oh, stupid dog/fox", xD. These moments are priceless.
just clarification, as it was portrayed in this episode, Izumi (the teacher) had already seen the truth before she met the boys, so she had already lost her kid when they met

I love your reactions to my favorite anime series. Trust me all your questions and more will be answered. Brotherhood and the first FMA animated series are completely different series. When the first animated series aired the manga was not finished yet. So animators had to take the story and had to go a completely different direction with the story. Then the manga completed and FMA Brotherhood was made and follows the manga. The character development is much more thorough and the story is much more complete.
I think the 2003 versions of Sloth and Wrath were early ideas the mangaka had but eventually discarded, especially after Father and his Seven Sins were developed.
FMA: Brotherhood is one of the strongest written anime I have ever seen, and also one of the only anime other than DBZ that I feel should be watched with English VA.
A minor correction, but I don't think neither Ed or Al have met Gluttony yet. Ed was the only brother to have met Lust, but only for a short duration of time. Plus Edward was having more confrontation with Envy than with her during that scene at the Fifth Laboratory. Ed tried to draw pictures of the both of them, so at least now Al is aware of Lust, but hasn't actually met her yet. And so far in the series they dont know anything about them, nor do I think they know them by name.
