I sorta wish Diamond had the DC license for stuff beyond statues and props, such a dope figure.

The Tic Tac-shaped effects are pulse bolts. They were one of the trademark weapons of the Silver Centurion.
Right, they were a long range weapon as they gained impact as they traveled. "The further they go, the harder they hit!"

And it does definitely contend with high end Ironman figures. The only thing holding it back is the lack of more dynamic articulation. It would otherwise equal the best of the best Ironman figs. Bonus points for actually giving us a Uni-Beam effect!
I just love that Diamond gave us a mullet Tony Stark head sculpt. Makes me want to make a smaller mold of it for the Marvel Legends Modular Iron Man.

If Marvel legends had glossy paint and accessories it would totally kick selects ass especially on articulation. $20 vs $35
@@homedude832 Nah, I feel like the sculpt on this one has more comic appropriate proportions. The Select version feels more like a comicbook drawing come to life if you get what I mean.

@@homedude832 Well, hear me out...Do you prefer a figure that is spot on to it's comicbook counterpart with adequate articulation or a figure that is an alright representation with superior articulation?
I also have to be honest, but a lot of Marvel Legends are a bit boring to me in regards to articulation because they reuse parts so much that there's almost nothing new to offer other than sculpt and paint. Alot of the things this figure can do, I didn't even know until Unparalleled pointed them out.
The closed hands FX part are for Silver Iron Mans "Pulse Bolts" attack blast he used in the comix.
I'm sure it's probably too big, but would've liked to see how the Tony Stark head looks on the ML Modular armor.

You can have double jointed elbow if you are willing to have no movement at all on the bottom. Marvel Select is limited to 16 points of articulation by their licensing contract.
Just ordered it. If MS keeps this up I might have to have a dedicated shelf for MSs
2years later and in my opinion they have kept up with the figures haha

This is an unparalleled figure for sure. Even though you cover a wide variety of lines, the diamond select reviews are great. I’m sure I’ve bought a few of their figures bc of an unparalleled video.

I love the shiny paint too! It looks like automotive paint. The new riri Williams legends figure has that amazing plastic that looks like paint too. (I haven’t been able to find modular Iron man yet)
Awesome review Wade. I love this Iron Man, my favorite armor gets its just due. Never thought of using the backpack as wings, makes sense.
The only thing I'd like to have added are some Negator Packs to go inside the backpack. He used them in The Armor Wars story to fry any armor that was using his stolen technology.
That pulse beam effect is sweet! The unibeam should have been as long as the repulsor beam. That mullet head sculpt is kick butt! That is a weapons manufacturer there.

I don't normally dig DST but this one wow. One of my fave armors and they did it all kinds of justice here! Marvel legends absolutely dropped the ball on this one. Great job Wade.
All the newer legends iron mans are on the same buck maybe with a little extra sculpting…like how are people excited about them? That’s why I like diamond and McFarlane, just about every figure is a new experience and the articulation is always different.
This! And the thing that gets me with Legends is that many of the sculpts don't necessarily reflect comic book proportions well, so the likeness doesn't translate as if it came straight off of a panel. With DC Multiverse and Marvel Select, they tend to get that part right more often than not. That leaves articulation, and the only reason most Legends have that down is because of the overdone reuse of parts. There's often nothing to explore in a Legends figure.
Great review, as always. I wasn't really interested in this figure since I have the Legends version, but you've got me giving it a second look. That red finish looks great, I really like the bulkiness, and those blast effects are pretty dope.
I was undecided on which one to grab for the longest. Once I saw all that this came with, I knew this was the one to get. Honestly, I'd sell that ML if I had it...this one is superior in all but articulation

Its because is so hard to rotate the shoulders... I heat it and it didnt work for me...that is the problem with this figure
FYI: for all those little nicks and scrapes this figure is most definitely going to get, Tamiya X-27 (Clear Red) works very well to cover those up

I suspect a full comparison video is coming for this with its Legends counterpart, and that's why we didn't see it, here.
The silver on the Legends is nicer.
But the red/accessories are better on the Select. All the same, relatively uniform scale across a collection trumps a lot of advantages, so I have to ultimately side with Hasbro.
The accessories kill it for me, great job brodie

At last a HQ review on this guy! With exception of the elbows, the rest of articulation to me is pretty good. A strong contendant for figure of the year IMO.

@@UnparalleledUniverse It's a BAF you should definitely look into getting! It's a great mold, and goes great with any Iron Man display you might have. Hard to come by though. You should try and get your hands on one.

IM has classically been depicted as at least 6'6" in armor, so I think the scale with Hasbro or Mezco is perfect.
He looks like he’s 7ft compared to Marvel Legends, but maybe with Mezco he could fit?

God damn, how many times do I have to tell u people, diamond select is superior to legends. They keep proving themselves, and before anyone disagrees, think about these figures, endgame thanos, endgame gauntlet hulk, endgame iron man, ragnarok hulk, far from home Spidey, ps4 Spidey, immortal hulk, venom, carnage, rhino, taskmaster, amazing Spider-Man movie lizard, that new school thanos, teen groot, falcon captain America, planet hulk, hulkbuster, colossus, juggernaut, avenging captain America, etc, etc.
Marvel select underrated af
Straight up. The only thing Legends have over Select is articulation and the vast amount of characters they've covered. Selects often feel as though they should be premium figures, especially this particular Ironman. This one feels like a $60-$100 figure, only really lacking double joints at elbows and knees.
