2011 Sonata 2.0 turbo leaking on to turbo heat shield. I followed this video and finished with no issues in about 2.5 hours. The bolt under the fuel line was a pain. Thanks!!
Clean, clear and direct tutorial. I am headed towards 70. Glad I had tour assistance. Quite different from the old VW horizontally opposed engines where we used to have to set valves every 2-3 K miles.😅 Thank you.
Thank you (I like grabbing my tools from work before the weekend and this was very helpful) doing the valve cover gasket on my fiancés dads car this weekend a month ago he told me it looked hard “cause of the spring thingy” (fuel pump) and I watched a video then your video and so straight forward thank you
Thanks for the tutorial it helped me do the job, there was one screw that was hard to take off, and it was under the fuel line bit other than that it went smoothly.
Not sure if it's been addressed, but there is one 10 mm bolt for the valve cover that runs right under the metal fuel line and I'm not sure how to get to it. Does the fuel line have to come completely out?
@ahmedhashmi7855 Used one hand to pull the pipe (without permanently deforming it) up and to the right slightly, then got the socket on it, fine after that.
So i needed a valve cover replacement, mechanic fixed it but two days later my check engine came on and now they’re saying i have a motor issue. Never did before the first mechanic touched my car. Do you think it could just be something lose underneath my hood?
I just put a new valve cover gasket on my 2016 sonata and forgot to put silicone. Its now leaking from one of the spots you pointed out back side. If i remove the cover again to put silicone will the gasket be usable? Its probably been a month or since i put it on the car. Also why the silicone on those 2 spots? Thanks

Is that fuel pump o ring expensive? I'm checking for my 16 sonata, oem, comes out to 40$+...does that sound correct pr can I use regular o rings from autozone? Ty
Wow, I would never be able to do this and have the car run again. Now I sort of understand why it costs $1000. No I don't I'm sorry. Automotive repairs have gotten insane and the people who can least afford it who often experience it. But really well done video. Do you do work in Fort Collins? :-)

The link for the valve cover gasket set says it doesn't fit a 2014 sonata, is this incorrect?
@@RoccocoVs never rely on amazon's fitment guide. It fits.
Understood, thanks
This video is very to the point not like the other videos who have these guys taken apart things for no reason
Fantastic video without all the typical BS you see in others. Right to the point, clear, quick, and very precise. Thank you!!
Thanks dude i've come to TH-cam for other instructionals on this model car and honestly wish they were all like your format. Great job i thumbs it up.

Hello, I am not able to find the O ring you replaced on the fuel pump.

Loved this video. Straight to the point instructions. I completed this job in 2 hours this morning

Yeah he didn't bother showing All you had to remove to get to that single damn bolt. It's a bugger and he just edited right past it 👀
Excellent video! Nice clean format! Thanks for posting!
Good, simple demonstration. Curious though, why just sealant at those 2 points?
It's a sharp corner and also a mating surface
@@MrRangerZr1 Gotch, thanks!
So is it best to replace the entire cover? Since heat tends to warp plastic?
That rarely happens
Thanks for video much appreciated, however i didn't see your strategy for removing the valve cover bolt located directly under the fuel line ?
Just bend it a little bit or use a wobble extension

Having exactly the same issue. Did you figure it out
@ahmedhashmi7855 Used one hand to pull the pipe (without permanently deforming it) up and to the right slightly, then got the socket on it, fine after that.
You have to do exactly that, just pull it back ever so slightly
Do you have to unplug the battery?
No
So i needed a valve cover replacement, mechanic fixed it but two days later my check engine came on and now they’re saying i have a motor issue. Never did before the first mechanic touched my car. Do you think it could just be something lose underneath my hood?
Take it back to him clearly he didn't do something right
I was told by Hyundai to replace the fuel line because it’s a single use product once uninstalled it’s unusable. That true?
not true just replace the gaskets i showed in the video
Does it matter if the spark plugs are still on? I didnt see them removed in this video.
Spark plugs do not need to be removed

Yes gasket should be fine just take apart slowly. Silicone there is just extra insurance because of the timing case cover seem in those spots!
yes gasket should be reusable
@@MrRangerZr1 Does this solves the problem of expulsing white smoke by the exhaust on a Hyundai sonata 2016?
Excelente vídeo, va al punto ,y muy bien editado ,gracias.
To what torque rating do we bolt down the valve cover bolts ?
Once they stop tightening stop there, the cover is plastic.
They are 10 ft
First 7.4 then 10 ft

why did you make the engine shut off due to no fuel pressure? How does this help with replacing the gasket?
You have to take off the fuel line
I got a mechanic replace mine but car is having hard start. Did he do something wrong?
If the problem started after the repair he might of done something wrong take it back to him
Good video. Does that gasket fit 2014 Sonata 2.0T?
Yes
@@MrRangerZr1 Thanks. One more question. The link to the fuel pump seal isn't showing the seal. Do you have another one?
Nevermind I found it. Thanks
Back again. How did you get that bolt under the fuel line?
@@catdaddy7909
Can you share the link for the oring please
What were the symptoms the reasons you replaced it
Oil leak
What if the fuel line shoots gas out? Does the vehicle need to be empty on gas?
Watch the video, I show how to relieve the fuel pressure.
Is there a pattern to follow when tightening back the 10 valve cover bolts?
Star pattern
@@MrRangerZr1 shoot… I think I stripped the three front bolts.. not sure why but all others lined up, but these are just a bit off with engine block holes.. will continue tomorrow
@NikitaAnnenkov Will 1 year later 😅 any leaks? I stripped one bolt on my kia stinger, and i worried.
Where are the fuel injectors located on this engine? Are they underneath the intake manifold?
It's GDI, hidden under the intake manifold.
Is that fuel pump o ring expensive? I'm checking for my 16 sonata, oem, comes out to 40$+...does that sound correct pr can I use regular o rings from autozone? Ty
The set should come with the gasket, check the link in description.
@@MrRangerZr1 No it doesn't, it's not included.
Is it normal for there to be a rubber smell & smoke after replacement?
From residual oil yes, just clean it off
Excellent tutorial 💪💪
What's the name of the smaller gasket?
Fuel pump gasket, listed in description

It's not that difficult as you saw, give it a shot!
When I did this it took 2-3 minutes after I pulled the relay for it to stall down... is that normal?
I wouldnt worry about it it's just residual fuel
What's the avg price to get this done?
I would say more than $300
Hyundai charges 580
No silicon?
Watch the video again, you have to use sealant on some areas.
Why stall the car and not disconnect the battery?
To relieve the fuel pressure. Just disconnecting the battery won't do anything.
Masterclass Video
I ended up doing it and now i have oil coming out one of the middle top bolts for the cover
improper install gasket may have pinched
@@MrRangerZr1 any solution? I think it did get pinched :/

Thank you!!! Owe you a cold beer !!!!
Hyundai wantsd 1200 to do this on my moms car in her Santa Ge sport 2.0 non turbo... what!
Why remove the relay and let the car stall? Why do that step?
It's relieves the fuel pressure so it doesn't spray all over the place when you remove the fuel line
Thanks
Good video
Thanks 🙏🏽
