I like to imagine that if Buddy Holly had survived into the 90s and Weezer still wrote this song, he would’ve joined them on stage to play it at an awards show.
This was like year 6 of his midlife crisis lol My take-away: Pat is actually a great guitarist, maybe the best in the band The drummer in this video blows
@2:09 Scott plays the 3rd of the Db chord, which is F, which is the relative minor of the song. That note gives the song a sad flavor. He only does it on the last chorus but the recorded album version, the bass plays that note every chorus
I remember being in middle school (1195 or 1996) when this song came out. weezer was good back then and seeing this song performed now shows me how Weezer has gotten so much better over the years b/c this performance is amazing.
this is how pop music should sound, no bullshit lipsyncing, a kickass show, heavy guitars, they write their own songs and give it their all, not for money, but because they love doing it, i fucking love weezer
they have a tour drummer but their drummer still played guitars and Cuomo focused on singing, talk about being efficient as a band. Now that is a real group no man left behind albeit I don't know the story behind but still awesome to see all of them.
What an amazing performance, love it! Maybe he should play the lead guitar and Pat should play the drums You know what's weird? They never play Pinkerton but that's like their best album
this is epic ♥, and for those of you how are saying that they suck live..well..you are just wrong [from my point of view] :)..actually, many people say they are the best live singing band... this song sound a bit harsh ...but it's clear that this was like the last song that they sang on that concert, and they were kinda tired... anyway, I think they are great :)
I know this was fucking 11 years ago but hey, I'm stizzoned and this was a vibe. as for the sucking live part... how many albums have they made? how many millions of records sales? Successful in the industry is successful. They reached overplayed on the radio status for some. Don't think they are good live? Pick up an instrument and show them how it's done. I mean, what's stopping you? I hope naysayers taking up the challenge can take the same criticism if they shit the bed live. To be clear, this comment was made with a jovial sense of humor. (text sucks at giving inflections.) Much love.
B-Rye Except this was literally one of the only songs he wasn't playing on, and it wasn't because he wanted to be 'more mobile'. It was because his guitar failed.
Love their energy, great crowd too!! You guys should be proud. me on garage band playing the drums as fast as i can and hitting literally everything at once 3:32
Thats how they get you. When rivers is off guitar it sounds empty even though they're actually trying to male the song sound like it original powerful, not palm muted way. But if Rivers is on that extra guitar and palm mutes the verses, making it boring and empty. Were never getting another good performance of Buddy Holly like in '94.
I'm gonna be a pooper but the fun and good vibes of this show, while noble, don't compare to the original spirit of Weezer in the 90s. I understand you can't keep that kind of thing going forever, but the goal of my life is to be able to capture that true authenticity and ingenuity in all stages, and not just cheap replicas. Still a big shout-out to one of my favorite bands of all time.
@Smoshfans112 Only live he doesn't play guitar (sometimes). He started that recently so that he can put on more of a show and "interact with the fans". On the Memories Tour, he's playing guitar for the full playing of the Blue and Pinkerton albums, but doesn't play during the greatest hits set.
What's with these homies, dissing my girl? Why do they gotta front? What did we ever do to these guys That made them so violent? Woo-hoo But you know I'm yours Woo-hoo And I know you're mine Woo-hoo (And that's for all time) Ooh-wee-hoo, I look just like Buddy Holly Oh-oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore I don't care what they say about us anyway I don't care about that Don't you ever fear, I'm always near I know that you need help Your tongue is twisted, your eyes are slit You need a guardian Woo-hoo And you know I'm yours Woo-hoo And I know you're mine Woo-hoo (And that's for all time) Ooh-wee-hoo, I look just like Buddy Holly Oh-oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore I don't care what they say about us anyway I don't care about that I don't care about that Bang, bang, a knock on the door Another big bang and you're down on the floor Oh no! What do we do? Don't look now, but I lost my shoe I can't run, and I can't kick What's the matter babe, are you feeling sick? What's the matter, what's the matter, what's the matter you? What's the matter babe, are you feeling blue? Ooh-wee-hoo, I look just like Buddy Holly Oh-oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore I don't care what they say about us anyway I don't care about that I don't care about that I don't care about that I don't care about that
me on garage band playing the drums as fast as i can and hitting literally everything at once 3:32 I would have loved to be here the crowd is going nuts! This the first concert where i have seen different races together lol pretty cool though
I like to imagine that if Buddy Holly had survived into the 90s and Weezer still wrote this song, he would’ve joined them on stage to play it at an awards show.
Such a wholesome thought
The odds of buddy surviving on a plane during a blizzard is pretty low with a young pilot
He would prob hit those high notes and hick ups when they say “wooo hooo we look like buddy holly”
Wee ooh I am buddy holly
“Oo wee oo were playin with buddy holly”
0:53
That magic cymbal hit was incredible
Shocking video editing
Buddy Holly: Still a better love story than Twilight
Hostel is a better love story than twilight..
Buddy Holly: Still a better love story than Sid & Nancy.
It's weird to see Rivers without a guitar in his hands. It seems like he doesn't know what to do with his hands.
Yeah. He Grabbed His Ax Again for the New Album.
He just holds onto the mic. Mexican fender, get it? OK no.
Just like tom delonge
ikr, if you play guitar while singing and you get used to it, if you ever sing without a guitar your hands wouldn't know what to do
This was like year 6 of his midlife crisis lol
My take-away: Pat is actually a great guitarist, maybe the best in the band
The drummer in this video blows
Love their energy, great crowd too!! You guys should be proud.
One of the best songs ever to have as an earworm
Wee ooo I look just like Johnny Knoxville
you are the boss m8
oh oh and I'm gonna fucken' die
nah idiot... he looks like revenge of the nerds
xD
HAHAHA
@2:09 Scott plays the 3rd of the Db chord, which is F, which is the relative minor of the song. That note gives the song a sad flavor. He only does it on the last chorus but the recorded album version, the bass plays that note every chorus
Yeah, I have no idea why they changed it. Even Matt Sharp used to play the “wrong” note back when he was in the band
@Allister11bum
This is such a fun gig overall. Rivers actually is uncomfortable and having fun. Strange combination but fits to him like a glove.
Maybe he should play the lead guitar and Pat should play the drums

+AnArmchair Exactly what I was about to comment. LOL
Go back to shitty dancing Carlton
Rivers without guitar is epic! He seem's to have so much more energy which gets the crowd going. Love him dancing around the stage
me on garage band playing the drums as fast as i can and hitting literally everything at once 3:32
LMAO
I remember being in middle school (1195 or 1996) when this song came out. weezer was good back then and seeing this song performed now shows me how Weezer has gotten so much better over the years b/c this performance is amazing.
1195? never knew this song came out before any of us even existed.
@@ianschwartz08 🫥
You went to middle school with William Wallace?
How’s the mongol empire
Dayum 1195? Sorry for my intrusion
That camera zoom in on the axe logo at 3:39 was rock n roll to the max!!!
this is how pop music should sound, no bullshit lipsyncing, a kickass show, heavy guitars, they write their own songs and give it their all, not for money, but because they love doing it, i fucking love weezer
exactly
Weezer would be a Nintendo DS if they were a video game
I think rivers was being autotuned at this show... His voice seem very robotic for some reason
It’s not pop though… it’s rock
Real musicians. Real Music. Miss that Era.
Finally! That group of dads that always talked before picking up their children at school formed a band!
IM SO SORRY
i claim this "IM SO SORRY" vibe
I would have loved to be here the crowd is going nuts!
If I squint my eyes a little, he does look just like Buddy Holly!
por Dios me encantaba esta canción en los 90s, siempre me gustó el rock desde los 10 años
they have a tour drummer but their drummer still played guitars and Cuomo focused on singing, talk about being efficient as a band. Now that is a real group no man left behind albeit I don't know the story behind but still awesome to see all of them.
Just about as perfect a song as a song gets
This has got to be in the top 10 videos on TH-cam. Banging.
What I wouldn't give to see Weezer live... They are awesome!
What an amazing performance, love it!
Maybe he should play the lead guitar and Pat should play the drums
You know what's weird? They never play Pinkerton but that's like their best album
Stop copying comments
You know what's weird? They never play Pinkerton but that's like their best album

So freakin' good!
that is sickest drum set I've ever seen.
And I don't even play drums... but I want them.
Look at how much fun everyone’s having
this concert was the fkn bomb
So much negative energy on here, I had so much fun just watching this video. What a performance.
Buena rola la verdad, en este video se sintió diferente
so weird seeing him without a guitar
I love it
Best performance ever
i love that weezer’s aesthetic is just look like the most average 30 something office worker
He looks so awkward without a guitar.
+Liam Daniel but he's still fucking awesome
hes an awk fellow to say the least
His guitar failed I'm pretty sure.
IAmTheBestMang lol no it didn’t. He had no guitar for the entire show, and there’s already 2 guitar tracks playing
Braedenyo gotti
Man with them all beating on the drums like that, they can ALMOST simulate what it's like to be neil pert.
I like Rivers without the guitar. His voice blasts out. Look how the fans are so enthusiastic when he's solo voice!

Awesome!
the whole band does a drum solo fuckingawesome. 😁
exellent ! wwweeeeeezzzerrrrr
Was that the real drummer on the other guitar?
Yes
Indeed. Pat took over Rivers' guitar responsibilities when Rivers decided to become "more mobile" on stage.
That's not true for this show, because Rivers was playing guitar at this show. His guitar failed.
IAmTheBestMang
I didn't say he stopped playing guitar completely. He still plays on a few songs.
B-Rye
Except this was literally one of the only songs he wasn't playing on, and it wasn't because he wanted to be 'more mobile'. It was because his guitar failed.

But if Rivers is on that extra guitar and palm mutes the verses, making it boring and empty. Were never getting another good performance of Buddy Holly like in '94.
What's wrong with palm muting?
The NOOOOOH on 2.34 gives me chills every time I hear this!! =W= !!
Very cool. Drums rule!
2:07 the best thing to ever exist just a couple of notes
Bro Rivers really looks like Buddy Holly

you can really hear how much after affects go into the original song after this
See kids, gigs without mobile phones = great fun!
A little bit of blast beats during the all out band drum solo.
