Do they have approval from NRC???? Does anybody have this information? How do I get this information? They were denied in 2020, resubmitted,.. what's going on?
The question is whether the NRC will ever let these reactor see the light of day without requiring so many redundant safest systems that the cost goes through the roof. NRC supported NuScale only because they knew it would be so expensive that no one would build it.
@@feralNYC44 Their first application was rejected and they have since resubmitted. Assuming this one is not rejected, they would normally get a license in about 10 years, but since Congress passed the Advanced Act it will probably take 15-20.
@@chapter4travels just learned from GPT: Likely Timeline: If the NRC's Review is Streamlined: With the support of the ADVANCE Act and depending on the efficiency of Oklo's revised submission, a more expedited timeline of around 18 to 36 months is possible. If the Process Faces Delays: If additional information is required or further complications arise, the timeline could extend closer to the typical 3 to 5 years.
@@feralNYC44 This assumes the NRC will comply with the Advance Act. You have to remember the NRC is a militant, anti-nuclear organization that will probably take this opportunity to make the process longer and more expensive out of spite. Who can stop them?
They have not resubmitted. They plan to do pre application submission in late 2024 so soon. And actual application submission in first half of 2025. Once they submit it will be 2 to 3 yrs before they get approval from the NRC
Good questions by J.D, good answers by Jacob.
