AMC had the worst designers of any company. The gremlin, pacer and marlin yukk yukk yukk. Rambler was a good reliable economy car but they couldnt leave it alone.
Fords idiocy with the Pinto went even further. I spent quite a bit of time driving various cars of that era and the Pinto was a really pretty good econo box. Reliable, reasonably quiet interior, decent fuel mileage If it had not been for Fords unwillingness to spend what worked out to be 11 dollars per car the pinto would have been left competing against the hideous rust bucket Vega and various poor grade imports rebadged by Dodge. The Pinto station wagon could have even been a reasonable first US effort as a small family car. I am not trying to claim that the Pinto was a Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry but it was competitive and had most of what would have allowed Ford to be the US small car builder.
What kills me about the Vega IS GM owned OPEL of Germany. Opel had decades of small car manufacturing. They could have easily provided engines (design). Generally, there is resistance to foreign body styles & interiors. I will not subscribe that this was just GM Engineers. This was REDUCED program testing & administive decisions (Management). It seems AFTER Covair, GM's heart just wasn't in it.
Dodge Omni is not an American designed car, it was a re badged Talbot Horizon, a European car, sold in the States as the Dodge Omnii, Chrysler owned Talbot
I don't know anyone who hated the Stag. Certainly doesn't belong on this list, though it did have quality control problems.

The truth about the pinto is it was one of the first cars to be partially built outside of the country and the labor union didn't like that.
Lots of bad information in this video The reason why they use thin metal is not to save money so much as to reduce weight. For instance
The Vega would start burning oil at 30.000 miles but bolt in a small block and then it was a fast light car they were a good looking car
Don't people know how do design cars? That Pacer... looks like a pregnant pigeon.
Do does Jay Leno know you’re using his image on your thumbnail sounds kind of shady and unrespectable to me since he’s not even in the video
The mustang II was ahead of it's time, made a ton of money and was the reason for the fox body.
Is the Dodge Omni a rebranded Talbot Horizon? It looks very similar.
Yes it was
Vega, once you pee in the bed, it's hard to live down the reputation.

Yes in Australia the Holden Commodore was basically an Opel Commodore built locally and upgraded for our driving conditions
fine video for sure ! but why do Americans keep saying saying 3.point zero ,4 point zero etc instead of 3 litres and 4 llitres ?
Datsun one, two,zero,zero =AI

The Chevy Vegas engine was not sleeved.
The Mustang 2 was BORING.....
Giddamit! Do your research!
You could do this in half the time if you didn't repeat-repeat....
Worst TH-cam item
