I LOVE the call and response videos for DMs asking each other questions.

Interesting points. I've always adapted to my players' HOPES, like one time someone used Create Water to make it rain in a hallway and snap everyone out of a trance (was too creative for me to say no) or another where the two lady paladins in the group met a misogynistic paladin captain in a city and challenged him to a duel (I was originally just going to have him shoo them along). Capitalizing on their FEARS however seems even more potent.

Both are great options and there's a time and place for each!

Great video! You're right, player's imaginations are too valuable a resource to waste.. My challenge is adapting to new ideas or changes in plans -- in the moment. I don't think quickly on my feet. Any advice for the slow of mind?

      Yeah that's tough!
My advice is probably to do the things they talk about. If the players say "Man, I hope none of us slip and fall while walking down this rocky slope" now have everyone make some kind of check!
The easier thing is stuff that doesn't happen this session and you can save it for later. Like "I sure hope the bad guy doesn't do THIS" you just save that for later and have the bad guy do it!
