Autumn Walk in the New Forest

A walk in the ancient pasture woodland of the New Forest and a look at some holly pollarding, a traditional practice to provide food for deer and ponies in hard winters. Today it is also done to support the important lichens habitat and it does lengthen the life of the holly.

Lovely bit of country there, Peter. Very similar to the ancient woodland where I live, only mine is right on the edge of the town. What a place to escape the pressures of everyday life and re charge the soul!
