Friedberg is actually a great moderator too
He really is
Honestly, I kind of disagree. I thought the first 10 or 15 minutes felt kind really slow and I stopped listening
@@saastrclips3007 Ah you missed out big time
World's chillest moderator
Might be the world’s best…..
The vibe among these 3 is so good. really enjoyed this podcast with friedberg moderating.
Friedberg asks such intelligent questions as a mod. LOVE IT!
David does a great job moderating.
World's chillest moderator
It is a credit to them all that they resolved their issues and came back stronger, it sets a great example. We would like to think they are in fact actually all friends and they seem to have demonstrated that is true. Authenticity has real value.
JCal really proved himself in the face of adversity.
JCals personality contrasts in a positive way with the others which makes the show more entertaining.
Could JCal be the secret sauce.
Friedberg moderating LFG
World chillest moderator
Too bad he supports the ongoing genocide in Palestine
No one like jcal
@@Ramnik72 I think it’s a completely different dynamic, but I agree that without JCAL this pod would become boring fast
Each one has their idiosyncrasy and all compliment each other thus enriching this podcast.
FRIEDBERG FRIEDAY!
World's chillest moderator
I would take him any Saturn day too.
Sacks for treasury secretary. Chamath for Secretary of State. Friedberg for Secretary of Commerce. Jcal for press secretary.
And in a weird twist of fate Jcal is the only one who can become president 😁
Hey that would work- Well, you guys? :)
Chamath is dictator
@@Midwest_PickerTHE* Dictator
Is it my imagination or is Sacks much more reasonable when JC isn't there to goad him?
no you are not wrong. a much chiller less political grifting pod. the JC vs Sacks thing is old and overplayed
I think Friedberg needs to be the moderator permanently
World's chillest moderator
@@Leeway4434 JCAL annoying Sacks is content though
Would be boring unfortunately
Jcal brings a tension and disruptive energy that honestly adds to the entertainment value. Too much smooth sailing can be stale after a while. But an occasional moderation by Friedburg is great. 👍
@@thunken “Sacks here’s some red meat for you.”
“What about January 6?”
😂😂😂
Friedberg nails it on the train time vs inference time infringement question.
If Tesla's AI learn how to drive from real life data on the roads seeing buildings, is that copyright data even though it's publicly viewable like a book or music? The owner of those buildings and roads own IP of the layout of their building structure. Chamath is not thinking this through properly.
No, he doesn’t because comparing people sometimes taking inspiration from other work isn’t the same as an AI literally knowing nothing else.
@@scoopbls so you’re arguing that copyright shouldn’t exist? Because it does exist, and not for maps.
also chamath made a dumb point on maybe they didnt pay but the advertisers in the radio paid.
well for TH-cam when ai collected the views went counted and the advertisers paid money there too.
chamath lost the argument logically
Agreed.
We’re going to have to focus on the outputs anyway, a model could reproduce a copyrighted work even without that work being in its training data. Focusing on training is unnecessary complexity.
Thanks for the update, keep up the good work.< Learned a lot from my market journey, especially the importance of living within one's means. With Flora Elkin’s guidance, my nest egg has grown to a 7-figure sum. My advice - get an analyst for better financial trade decisions and peace of mind
I've just looked up her full name on my browser and found her webpage without sweat, very much appreciate this
It's unexpected to come across her name here. She understands every beginner’s intention and fix you to a trading course that matches your capacity, she knows her stuff! Her advice has been invaluable to my trading journey. Definitely worth giving a shot!
Investing has proven to be an incredibly beneficial decision. My cryptocurrency profits continue to play a substantial role in growing my overall wealth, reducing my reliance on my salary
Nice to see this here, Flora Elkin's understanding of market indicators is impressive. She knows exactly when to enter and exit trades for maximum profit. her siignals are top notch
Over the years, I've been a part of numerous trading programs, sifting through a barrage of information. Yet, nothing has come close to the sheer clarity, depth, and precision of Flora's insights. It's akin to finding a diamond in a coal mine.
Did anyone laugh a little too hard when Friedberg said JCal had an “oral incident”?! 😂
They left a lot of jokes on the table on that one and totally missed the reference when one of them said “chomping at the bit”
@@doinitforthestreets hahaha yassss!
Talk about a " Freudian slip" 😂
💯
I live in South Korea and there aren't the same problems here in the big cities as there are in Western cities. I live in a medium-sized city and I have only heard of bicycle theft. Never seen nor heard of other crimes.
you dont have millions of africans and arabs in south korea.
Jeezzus. More like 'seedsof racism'
@@Meta4Monky yup. sometimes the truth is unfortunate.
@@SeedsofJoy hahaha, er yes they do. Just like Americans under the British, whenever you compress or mistreat a group, they resort to criminality. In the American case, fighting against the British Crown.
I'm sure if the native Americans had known their future beforehand, they would have ALL fought alongside the British against the French and Americans and history might have a different story.
Whether Americans, Latinos, Africans, Arabs, Palestinians, Dutch, Germans, Portuguese, Australians, Taiwanese, French and yes even Russians, all races have somehow found themselves dwelling in and possessing the lands of other races.
Roll on Erik Prince!!
The United States has a significantly larger population of Black or African American individuals than France.
According to the United States Census Bureau (2020 data), there are approximately 40.6 million Black or African American individuals living in the United States, making up about 12.4% of the total population.
In contrast, France has a much smaller population of Black individuals, estimated to be around 1.5-2 million people, which is roughly 2-3% of France's total population (based on various sources, including the French National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies).
So, the United States has a much larger population of Black individuals than France.
The fact that this pod came out yesterday and today Iran is using drone warfare today against Israel just shows how spot on this pod is.
The AI disclosure bill/Ed Sheeran discussion was awesome. Very modern and on-point debate
This is the reason I get through a shitty week, just to find these OGs on the weekend.
one of the better episodes, good quality content
wishing JCal a speedy recovery x
Yabadabadooo! 🦕🦴😅
Não, ok, sim.
Love Fridays. Look forward to this pod all week.
FRIEDBERG YESSSSS
@Leeway4434

55 ~ born in Newark . Grew up running to the city (NYC) for a late night gyro on 42nd St. Never a fear for safety.. Even with the hookers and before Giuliani .. life moved on and then as as a mother of sons, we explored the culture of NYC .. museums.. Times Square etc.
it’s surreal to think recently a person just walking through Times Square was shot dead in broad daylight
REALLY GREAT episode! Thanks gents!
We miss Jason, hope he comes back soon
Excellent podcast. Very orderly and measured.
Love the podcast but your take on using copyrighted IP is wrong. If AI is training on that data, rightsholders must be compensated. At the very least, they need to approach the big three music labels (Sony, Universal and Warner) and seek licensing agreements to do so. These works were created through many years of hard work and promotion that required the exhaustion of resources, time and energy. Google pays rightsholders through Content ID. TH-cam does not have the authority to license copyrighted music without authorization. If AI is training on YT videos, it’s highly unlikely it’s coming from copyrighted works. For the record, we are no fan of Adam Schiff, but on this issue he’s right, even if he’s doing it for personal reasons.
David Friedberg just went up in my books for having a fear and loathing in Las Vegas background. Hunter S was one of a kind.
David Sachs, it’s a shame you’re not in office. You’re brilliant.
Inflation -geopol conversations at All In is what I always tune in for ❤
Friedberg being the moderator LGTM
@Leeway4434
you missed one
Friedberg keeps a good conversation going. Really nice changeup guys, good talk and great listen.
enjoy the visuals yall incorporate, it puts insights/observations into perspective
This was such a great and productive conversation
The discussion about the creative process and AI might be the most interesting debate I've heard, good arguments on both sides.
great moderation by friedberg!
Great episode. Great topics and perfect moderation!
Damn i was at Google Next while Friedberg was there and had no idea
Paris was deteriorating even ~15 years back. Shocking for a super beautiful city. I stopped wearing all valuables 10 years back while travelling. I love ALLL these guys
Have been thinking about drones as the future of modern warfare, so it was fascinating to hear them discuss it at length.
Are you trying to get a piece of that defense budget? Or are you just trying to predict when skynet kicks off
Thank You ALL for All your hard works !!
Thank you Nick . Thank you SCEO, Get well soon jcal
Never mistake freedom for safety and orderly conduct.
Exactly
Would you mind discussing ranked choice voting on the Pod? I think it would address Jason's concerns in E172 about RFK Jr. being an election spoiler.
15:58 I loved that they referenced the commoditization of the cloud; the same thing is happening with Snowflake and Databricks. It's less of one vs the other for many companies I have worked with. It's usually a, we use Snowflake where it makes sense and databricks where we believe it works best.
Just skimmed your channel, would you be interested in exploring Rockset? I’m a former employee, could connect you with some folks there if you’re interested.
Another great session...! You guys are amazing!
Great episode. Stable, dignified commentary.
Love Friedberg moderating….. appreciate the humility, deep questions and amount of content covered because you get a consolidation of the 3 best minds. Fantastic episode!
Great show! Thanks all. 👍
Great show guys, thank you. Would be great to have you all watch the Google Cloud presentation and do a section on it after their Gemini debacle.
Guys $7,500 is really squeezing early stage founders. Can you pls bring the "non-vip" pricing back, so the Seed/Pre-Seed founders can attend as well?
Loved the drone discussion
Your analysis on inflation has given me a new perspective. Bravo 👏
in what way?
@@kierand9410 Opec countries’ response and its effect on price>inflation. Other Biden admn policies that are eventually turning out to be inflationary in nature…
One of many who really appreciate the amazing content and insight you put out to all of us entrepreneurs
My background: EW (Jamming), Large & Small UAV (drones), Weapons test and development, DOD acquisition, 20 years USAF with 7 years with USN. Drones make airpower persistent. Formerly, airpower was mainly fleeting (sudden 500 knot attacks). Persistent airpower is occupation from the sky. Lethal drones are cheap because the targeting is precise. Result is persistent, lethal, low cost combat power. US small drones have not been as good as Chinese drones regarding jamming (according to Ukrainians). Jamming is effective, but can be countered, and is never 100% (more like 25%) effective. Cheap high power lasers seem able to counter drones (right kind of cost/lethality vs drone). USN and US Army are fielding lasers. One answer to lasers & jamming defenses are saturation attacks. Saturation works because drones are cheap and they overwhelm defenses. Laser retarget and fire times still too long.
What’s happening in Ukraine: ground forces need to mass to attack. Drones make that impossible. Tanks/troop carriers/troops in the open are quickly destroyed. Both Ru and Uk sides have adapted. Russia uses drones, cruise missiles, hypersonic missiles, and glide bombs. The bombs are very large and destroy prepared ground defenses (trenches, strong points). The glide bombs make the cost of manning trenches too high. This is why Ukraine is demanding more Patriots to push back the aircraft dropping the bombs. Very scary: Russians have fielded and successfully used AI swarming drones. Ukrainians are losing the war because of Russian saturation.
Future war: micro drones will make human survival perilous. Larger drop drone-ships can carry murder bots deep into enemy territory, drop murder bots, which then kill military/political people. Critical factories can likewise be targeted. There are no known defenses to this type of attack when they are autonomous and/or AI controlled. Note that the Russians are using many different types of drones/missiles/bombs. The Ukrainians are ingenious in their use of drones. In fact, Uk drones have defeated the Black Sea Fleet comprehensively. Prewar, very few saw that coming. EMP weapons are currently ‘a miracle happens here’ kind of event. The threat is so extreme that EMP is likely getting funding.
Minor players are now dangerous: Houthis are most current example. As I type, Iran has drones in the air headed to Israel. These are mostly larger aircraft, will be detected on radar, and most/all will be killed. However, Iran must know their own weaknesses, will have learned from the Russians, and Israel must expect surprises. This Iranian attack may be symbolic. Or, it could be an attriting attack to reduce Israeli defenses. Israel is a premier electronic warfare user. They may be able to prevent/defeat a drone war. It will be close. The Israelis have not switched to a war time economy so they do not have wartime quantities of defensive material (missiles, jammers, etc). They can be overwhelmed but fortunately, Iran and Hezbollah don’t have wartime stocks of drones.
Prediction: the Ukrainian F-16 force will be killed on the ground by Russian drones. The Ukrainians know this and will be desperate to prevent it. They have a nearly impossible task. As we used to say in the Navy, the bad guys can make it rain more than we can hold up our umbrella (regarding cruise missile attacks against our carriers during the Cold War.).
Conclusion: We’re witnessing an evolving revolution in weapons and tactics. Ru, Uk best in the world at operations. US/China/NATO/Israel/Iran watching. Very dangerous when previous military calculus is invalidated and new one is being formed.
Finally Friday !!!! Happy weekend everyone.
Great episode gentlemen! Get well soon J-Cal.
Great job David!
whats the website Chamath mention around 28 min mark? Explanation in 3 chart ? cant find the url of the website
So funny, I replayed it 5 times to catch it…still can’t find the url
Their approach is grounded in solid, time-tested principles.
Friedberg is 100% right with his copyright rant
If Tesla's AI learn how to drive from real life data on the roads seeing buildings, is that copyright data even though it's publicly viewable like a book or music? The owner of those buildings and roads own IP of the layout of their building structure. Chamath is not thinking this through properly.
@@scoopbls There is no IP related revenue that anyone is making before or after Tesla drives through it. This is not the correct framing. Correct framing: Take the revenue of top 500 artists in all languages in all music industries, find out the change in revenue for AI trained on models that exclude those artists vs those that include them.
@@scoopbls Owner of the roads? You mean the state? That's the worst example you could have gave lol.
I absolutely love this podcast! I feel like I should be paying to get this information. Thanks y'all for trying to make the world a better place. 🙏
Love you boys! So fun.
Great discussions on three important topics: inlation, ai copyrights, and next-gen military defense.
Fantastic episode 👍🏽
Thank you for the show!
You guys hit the nail on the head for the future of warfare. EW, lasers, and drone swarms are as big of an innovation as gunpowder.

love friedberg moderating!

Everyone at a GCP conference uses multiple clouds.. I wonder why.. almost like no one in their right mind would put all their eggs in a long-term Google service.
well gcp been around for almost a decade now so that should be proof of commitment and longevity.. not another stadia
Yes, AI learns how to create just like how humans do. Big difference: a single AI model could totally replace the need for human made music as it scales. Humans can maybe make 1 song per day if they’re really productive.
Laws should be written and changed as needed to serve humans, not follow an abstract principle that was developed far before AI was even possible.
Ive listened since the first episode😊
Neural Nets are compression algo. Consiousness is byproduct of decompression process. Copyright was a temp threshold set at a certain level of decompression quality(hello to deterministic reality). Now that threshold has moved. It is ok.
Duke & Dr Gonzo, love it😎
JCal, speedy recovery 😢
Jcal "oral accident" uncovered new David's talent in moderating 😂
Friedberg is the only one that talks and acts like a great CEO, businessman and communicator. Not saying the others aren’t smart, but he definitely comes off as the most professional and articulate. The side effect is that he is less extreme and that sometimes translates to less entertaining and I guess he has to be far more calculated and less sensational with his takes, at least at times.
Friedberg is a phenomenal moderator!
What is the rights marketplace startup Sachs mentioned in the episode?
i was in Kaiserlautern in Rhineland-Palatinate 2 weeks ago. You know the city where most of the US Force are here in Germany. And it was a totaly other city as 2-3 years ago. Pre covid it was a great city, there where multiple cultures, but i was great. The city live was full vibrant, shops where plentiful and different. It was a great city. 2 Week age when i visited the same city it was scary, desolate, grafity everywhere, social standards where so low. It was a dirty town. A city i once loved, repelled me. It is not a SF phenomenon. It spreads.
Very sorry to hear that. Spent time there with USAF and admired it.
